East Tennessee St. Buccaneers vs The Citadel Bulldogs Predictions October 10, 2026

Game time: October 10, 2026 at 2:00 PM ET

Venue: Johnson Hagood Stadium — Charleston, SC

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

East Tennessee St. Buccaneers will beat The Citadel Bulldogs 27-20 in our forecast for Oct. 10, with ETSU’s defensive performance against Chattanooga providing the strongest reason to favor the visitors. The Citadel’s productive rushing attack makes a comfortable winning margin less convincing. Neither ETSU -10.5 (-113) nor the 49.5 total offers a strong enough betting edge; the official wager is Pass.

East Tennessee St. Buccaneers vs The Citadel Bulldogs prediction and best bet

ETSU gets the pick because its latest performance offers a credible route to controlling this matchup: limit the opponent’s offense, build a lead and sustain possessions. That combination favors the Buccaneers in our forecast, although their 14-point output against Chattanooga leaves room for a close finish.

The Citadel brings a meaningful offensive challenge after scoring 34 points against South Carolina State. Picking ETSU to win is easier than backing an 11-point victory. The official SportsJaw wager is Pass, with low confidence in the projected margin.

Odds, game time and how to watch

Game: East Tennessee St. Buccaneers at The Citadel Bulldogs, Oct. 10, 2026, in college football.

Broadcast: ESPN+.

Records: Following their Oct. 3 games, ETSU was 4-2 overall and 2-0 in Southern Conference play. The Citadel was 2-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

SportsJaw spread: East Tennessee St. -10.5 (-113); The Citadel +10.5 (-113).

SportsJaw total: Over 49.5 (-114); Under 49.5 (-116). Moneyline: East Tennessee St. -500; The Citadel +340.

East Tennessee St. Buccaneers outlook

ETSU beat Chattanooga 14-3 on Oct. 3, gaining 345 yards while surrendering 183. Its 20-10 advantage in first downs suggests the control extended beyond the final score. The Buccaneers also possessed the ball for 12:09 of the fourth quarter while protecting their lead.

Mason Mims completed 15 of 25 passes for 186 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Jason Albritton contributed 95 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. TJ Peyton added 57 yards on 15 carries and caught a 20-yard touchdown pass.

Those contributions give the forecast a plausible offensive foundation without requiring a huge passing day. Still, ETSU turned its yardage advantage into only 14 points. Better scoring production would make the projected road win more secure.

Jarvis Johnson recorded 13 tackles, including two for loss. His involvement is relevant to a matchup in which containing The Citadel’s rushing threats figures to be central to ETSU’s chances.

The Citadel Bulldogs outlook

The Citadel won 34-31 at South Carolina State on Oct. 3, producing 439 yards on 55 plays. Its offense generated 235 net rushing yards on 39 attempts, averaging 6.0 yards per carry, alongside 204 passing yards.

Gavin Garcia supplied 160 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries, plus an 8-yard touchdown reception. Quentin Hayes added 63 net rushing yards and completed 8 of 13 passes for 148 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Damir Abdullah caught three passes for 84 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown. That performance illustrates the passing threat ETSU must consider while defending the run. The Bulldogs also scored on all five red-zone opportunities and made both field-goal attempts.

The narrow victory offers less reassurance about preventing points. South Carolina State scored 31, so The Citadel’s offensive success alone is not enough to project another win.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether ETSU can force The Citadel away from efficient rushing gains. If Garcia and Hayes consistently create manageable situations, the Bulldogs could sustain drives and put pressure on an ETSU offense that scored modestly last week.

Conversely, an early ETSU lead could make its possession game especially valuable. Long drives would reduce The Citadel’s opportunities to answer, but fewer possessions could also make a double-digit cover harder.

These recent performances came against different opponents. They help identify possible paths through this game, but neither result should be treated as a direct measurement of how the teams will perform against each other.

East Tennessee St. Buccaneers vs The Citadel Bulldogs spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on East Tennessee St. Buccaneers -10.5 (-113) and The Citadel Bulldogs +10.5 (-113).

The projected seven-point margin falls on The Citadel’s side of the spread. Its recent rushing production makes a competitive game plausible, while ETSU’s defensive control gives the favorite a reasonable chance to separate.

That tension keeps this market off the betting card. A single strong offensive showing is a fragile foundation for backing the Bulldogs, and ETSU’s latest scoring output makes laying 10.5 uncomfortable. The forecast favors a close result without enough conviction to recommend either side.

East Tennessee St. Buccaneers vs The Citadel Bulldogs total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 49.5 (-114) and Under 49.5 (-116).

The projection totals 47 points, placing it below 49.5. ETSU’s recent defensive performance and ability to consume time support that direction. However, The Citadel’s rushing efficiency and scoring success offer a credible route to a higher total.

The previous games finished with 17 and 65 combined points, respectively. Simply splitting those outcomes would overlook the different opponents and game conditions. With only a 2.5-point gap between this forecast and the supplied total, Under 49.5 (-116) is not an official recommendation.

East Tennessee St. Buccaneers vs The Citadel Bulldogs projected score

Game forecast: East Tennessee St. Buccaneers 27, The Citadel Bulldogs 20. ETSU’s latest defensive showing is the strongest reason to select the visitors, with sustained possessions offering a practical way to protect a lead.

The strongest counterargument is The Citadel’s productive ground game, complemented by a demonstrated long passing score. Confidence is low because repeating either team’s previous performance against a different opponent is uncertain. Both the spread and total remain passes. The single official SportsJaw wager is Pass.
