Stetson Hatters vs St. Thomas - Minnesota Predictions October 10, 2026

Game time: October 10, 2026 at 2:00 PM ET

Venue: O'Shaughnessy Stadium — Saint Paul, MN

Article updated Oct 7, 12:23 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

St. Thomas - Minnesota will beat Stetson, with a projected score of St. Thomas 34, Stetson 17. The Tommies' balanced offensive production last week gives them the edge over a Stetson attack that struggled to run. Five St. Thomas turnovers in that same game temper confidence, however, and neither the supplied spread nor total offers a compelling wager. The official SportsJaw recommendation is Pass.

Stetson Hatters vs St. Thomas - Minnesota prediction and best bet

St. Thomas is the pick to win this Pioneer Football League matchup, but covering a 22.5-point spread is a tougher assignment. Its recent ability to generate yards both running and passing supports the home team. Stetson's productive passing performance offers a credible counterargument to expecting a runaway.

The best betting decision is Pass. The forecast favors St. Thomas by 17 points, which points toward Stetson against the spread, but neither team's latest performance makes that margin dependable. The projected total also sits close enough to 48.5 to leave both markets without a persuasive edge.

Odds, game time and how to watch

Game time: Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. CT.

Venue: O'Shaughnessy Stadium in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Broadcast: Midco Sports Plus. Radio: 1500 ESPN and The Varsity Network.

Records: St. Thomas is 4-2 overall and 1-1 in PFL play. Stetson is 1-4 overall. Its conference record is disputed: St. Thomas' October 5 preview lists 0-2, while Stetson's October 3 recap lists 0-1 after describing the Marist game as its league opener.

SportsJaw odds: Stetson +22.5 (-125); St. Thomas -22.5 (-135). Moneyline: Stetson +1,100; St. Thomas -4,000. Total: Over 48.5 (-114), Under 48.5 (-116).

Stetson Hatters outlook

Stetson's October 3 loss to Marist showed the difference between moving the ball and scoring. The Hatters produced 335 passing yards, 19 first downs and 10 third-down conversions in 21 attempts, yet finished with 14 points in a 28-14 defeat. That performance encourages some optimism about sustaining possessions, with less assurance about finishing them.

Thomas von Grote completed 32 of 49 passes for 273 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Wyatt Rogers contributed nine receptions for 103 yards, Landon Farco caught 10 passes for 71 yards, and Shawne Jones supplied both receiving touchdowns among his four catches for 32 yards.

The ground game was the clear weakness: minus-1 net rushing yard on 15 attempts. Stetson held possession for 31:04 to Marist's 28:56, so time with the ball alone was no solution. A more useful contribution from the run would ease the burden on the passing game.

St. Thomas - Minnesota outlook

St. Thomas enters after a 55-21 defeat at Presbyterian on October 3. Its 203 rushing yards and 207 passing yards suggest an offense with more options than the final margin implies. The five turnovers, comprising three interceptions and two lost fumbles, are the strongest reason to distrust a comfortable rebound.

Anthony Policare completed 11 of 24 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns, while leading the team with 60 rushing yards. Pierce McCrary caught six passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. Gabriel Abel also scored a touchdown, extending his scoring streak to four games.

Ty Nielson recorded a career-high 12 tackles and an interception. That individual contribution came during a difficult team result, however. Allowing 55 points leaves a substantial question about how effectively St. Thomas can contain Stetson's passing attack; offensive balance alone will not answer it.

Key matchup factors

The contrast in recent rushing production shapes the forecast, but those performances came against different opponents. Treating that contrast as a guaranteed head-to-head advantage would overstate it. The narrower conclusion is that St. Thomas recently demonstrated a second way to move the ball that Stetson lacked.

Possession quality matters more here than possession time. Stetson needs its passing gains to produce more points, while St. Thomas needs productive drives to end without giveaways. Those are separate problems, and improvement by either offense could change the margin considerably.

Stetson's route to an upset runs through sustained passing success and more St. Thomas mistakes. The home team's route is to keep both parts of its offense involved while protecting possessions. The latter is the forecast, with limited confidence after the Tommies' latest loss.

Stetson Hatters vs St. Thomas - Minnesota spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on St. Thomas -22.5 (-135) and Stetson +22.5 (-125). The projected 17-point margin favors the Hatters relative to the line, but a projected cover is not automatically a worthwhile wager.

Backing Stetson requires trusting an offense that scored only twice against Marist despite substantial passing production. Backing St. Thomas requires a victory by at least 23 points for a winning spread ticket. Its recent giveaways and points allowed make that an ambitious demand. Neither side merits paying the supplied price.

Stetson Hatters vs St. Thomas - Minnesota total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 48.5 (-114) and Under 48.5 (-116). The forecast totals 51 points, a modest inclination toward the Over without enough conviction for a bet.

Stetson's passing output creates scoring potential, but its 14-point finish warns against translating yards directly into points. St. Thomas' turnovers add uncertainty rather than a reliable argument for either direction: giveaways can end promising possessions or create opportunities for the opponent. A cleaner game could alter both teams' scoring chances, with no clear net effect on this total.

Stetson Hatters vs St. Thomas - Minnesota projected score

Game forecast: St. Thomas - Minnesota 34, Stetson Hatters 17. The Tommies' recent balance and stronger overall record support the winner selection. Their turnover trouble and Stetson's passing production are the strongest counterarguments to the projected margin.

Confidence is low. St. Thomas is the predicted winner, but the evidence is too uneven to justify either a large favorite wager or a narrow total lean. Both market recommendations remain Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting recommendation is Pass.
