How Our Predictions Work
SportsJaw game previews and betting predictions are prepared by the SportsJaw Editorial Team. Our analysis combines team and player statistics, current betting-market data, injury and availability reporting, recent performance, matchup context and other relevant information available when an article is updated.
How we evaluate a matchup
We compare each team's strengths, weaknesses and recent results, then consider how those factors interact in the specific matchup. Current spreads, moneylines and totals provide market context, but a line by itself is not treated as proof of an injury, lineup change or betting advantage.
Technology-assisted analysis
SportsJaw uses technology-assisted research and analysis to organize data, identify relevant trends and support the editorial process. Published previews are presented as SportsJaw analysis and are reviewed for clarity, relevance and consistency with the information available at the displayed update time.
Projected scores and betting predictions
A projected score represents one reasonable game outcome based on the available information; it is not a guarantee. A betting prediction reflects the listed line and price at publication or update time. Odds, injury designations, starting lineups and player availability can change before the game begins.
The prediction card compares that projected score with the current market. For spreads, the projected winning margin is adjusted by the selected team's current spread. For totals, the two projected scores are added and compared with the current total. An edge under four points is a Slight Lean, four to under seven is a Moderate Lean, and seven or more is a Strong Lean. An exact match is No Lean. Missing or inconsistent current lines are shown as unavailable. These labels describe the size of the projected point edge; they are not calibrated win probabilities or guarantees.
Calculated leans are separate from the SportsJaw editorial pick. The card can show a score-based lean while the researched SportsJaw pick remains Pass. We preserve the article's published selection and flag it when its quoted line no longer matches the current market rather than silently changing its price.
