Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns vs Louisiana Tech Bulldogs Predictions October 10, 2026

Game time: October 10, 2026 at 7:30 PM ET

Venue: Joe Aillet Stadium — Ruston, LA

Article updated Oct 5, 12:55 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Louisiana Tech will beat Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech 27, Louisiana-Lafayette 24, in the Oct. 10 forecast. Dylone Brooks’ scoring ability as both a runner and receiver gives the Bulldogs a slight edge at home after their 503-yard performance against Army. That edge is fragile against Louisiana’s productive ground game, leaving both the supplied spread and total as a Pass.

Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns vs Louisiana Tech Bulldogs prediction and best bet

Louisiana Tech gets the pick because its latest offensive performance offered a compelling combination of balance and long touchdowns. Against Army on Oct. 3, the Bulldogs gained 244 yards rushing and 259 passing while averaging 8.8 yards per play. Brooks supplied scoring plays through both routes.

Louisiana-Lafayette presents a substantial counterargument. Its win over Arkansas State featured a commanding rushing advantage and sustained second-half possession. This is a low-confidence choice between two teams coming off close victories. The official betting decision is Pass: neither Louisiana Tech -2.5 (-112) nor either side of 48.5 (-110) offers a persuasive edge from those performances alone.

Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns outlook

Louisiana’s 23-20 victory over Arkansas State showed how its offense can control a game without scoring in bunches. The Cajuns finished with 435 total yards against 293 for Arkansas State, including a 251-87 advantage on the ground. That rushing performance is the strongest part of their case in Ruston.

Lunch Winfield completed 18 of 21 passes for 184 yards and contributed 69 rushing yards and a touchdown. JJ Garner led the team with 78 rushing yards and another touchdown on seven carries. Their production gives Louisiana a plausible path to keep Tech defending both the quarterback and running back.

Louisiana scored on each of its four second-half possessions and held the ball for 21:14 after halftime. Tony Sterner converted all three field-goal attempts, including the deciding 37-yarder as time expired. The result also illustrates the limits of yardage dominance: Louisiana still needed the final kick to win.

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs outlook

Brooks was the standout in Tech’s 31-29 win over Army. He gained 119 rushing yards on seven carries and 81 receiving yards on two catches. A 72-yard rushing touchdown and a 74-yard receiving touchdown made him dangerous in two distinct parts of the offense.

Trey Kukuk completed 16 of 22 passes for 185 yards, ran for 40 yards and scored a rushing touchdown. Jalen Mickens recorded a career-high eight receptions, while Eli Finley caught four passes for 79 yards. Those contributions give the forecast more substance than Brooks’ two scoring plays alone.

The defensive finish deserves caution. Tech surrendered 29 points despite winning, so its offensive success did not produce a comfortable margin. Jadon Mayfield and Kolbe Fields each made 13 tackles, and Jordan McRae intercepted Army quarterback Cale Hellums. Those individual contributions should not be mistaken for proof of a defensive advantage here.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether Louisiana can make possession matter more than Tech’s explosive scoring. Longer Cajuns drives would reduce the Bulldogs’ opportunities, but Brooks demonstrated that Tech can score without a lengthy march. That tension makes the pace and scoring outlook particularly uncertain.

These performances also came against different opponents. Louisiana’s rushing defense against Arkansas State is encouraging, but it is no guarantee against Tech’s offense. Likewise, the Bulldogs’ production against Army is a reason to favor them narrowly, not an expectation that they will repeat the same efficiency.

Tech enters with eight consecutive series victories. Louisiana’s official recap identifies this as the 86th meeting and the first conference matchup since 1995. That history adds context; the forecast rests on the current teams’ recent play.

Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns vs Louisiana Tech Bulldogs spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Louisiana Tech -2.5 (-112) and Louisiana-Lafayette +2.5 (-108). A three-point Bulldogs victory would cover the favorite’s spread, but the forecast sits only half a point beyond that threshold.

Louisiana’s rushing production and efficient quarterback play make the projected margin fragile. Tech’s long touchdowns justify choosing a winner, but one recent game from each offense is too narrow a foundation for paying the supplied price on either side.

Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns vs Louisiana Tech Bulldogs total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 48.5 (-110) and Under 48.5 (-110). The projected 51 points lean above the total, but that small difference is not enough to make the Over an official wager.

The latest games offer competing signals: Tech and Army combined for 60 points, while Louisiana and Arkansas State combined for 43. Louisiana’s lengthy possessions could restrain scoring opportunities, while Tech’s long-play threat could accelerate them. Neither outcome deserves a firm betting commitment.

Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns vs Louisiana Tech Bulldogs projected score

Game forecast: Louisiana Tech 27, Louisiana-Lafayette 24. Brooks’ ability to score as a runner and receiver tips a close projection toward the Bulldogs. Louisiana’s ground game and second-half control against Arkansas State remain the strongest reasons that pick could miss.

Confidence is low. The forecast selects Louisiana Tech to win, while the spread and total remain separate Pass recommendations. The single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
