Towson Tigers vs Monmouth, N.J. Hawks Predictions October 3, 2026

Game time: October 3, 2026 at 1:00 PM ET

Venue: Kessler Stadium — West Long Branch, NJ

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Monmouth will beat Towson 31-24, with its pass protection and Frankie Weaver’s efficient performance at Dartmouth providing the strongest matchup advantage. The Hawks have allowed just two sacks through five games, but all three victories have come by one possession. Neither Monmouth -10.5 (-127) nor the 56.5 total at -125 offers a strong enough edge for an actionable wager.

Towson Tigers vs Monmouth, N.J. Hawks prediction and best bet

Monmouth is the pick to win, and Pass is the official betting recommendation. The Hawks bring a 3-2 record and a 2-0 CAA start into this matchup. Weaver’s accuracy at Dartmouth, supported by protection that has surrendered only two sacks all season, gives Monmouth a credible route to sustained offense.

Towson’s latest loss showed why picking the winner and laying the points require different judgments. The Tigers outgained Delaware State but committed four turnovers in a five-point defeat. Cleaner execution could make them competitive here. Monmouth’s three narrow victories also argue against expecting comfortable separation. A seven-point projected margin reflects that tension without making Towson +10.5 an automatic bet.

Towson Tigers outlook

Towson’s Sept. 26 loss at Delaware State was not an offensive shutout. The Tigers gained 369 yards to the Hornets’ 298 and scored 28 points. Andrew Indorf completed 25 of 32 passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns, although his two interceptions were part of a damaging four-turnover afternoon.

Aaron Enterline supplied the biggest receiving plays, catching five passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns. His 75-yard first-quarter score illustrates the quick-strike possibility Monmouth must respect. Kemarrion Battles added a career-best 94 rushing yards on 18 carries and another 13 yards receiving, giving Towson production beyond its passing game.

The Tigers also surrendered possession on downs twice, while Delaware State committed one turnover. Towson then allowed a 95-yard drive for the winning touchdown with 42 seconds remaining in the 33-28 defeat. Those are separate concerns: finishing offensive possessions and protecting a late lead.

There were individual defensive contributions, including TJ Sands’ seven tackles, tackle for loss and forced fumble, plus two Myles Johnson pass breakups. The forecast gives Towson credit for its offensive potential, but another afternoon of wasted possessions would put substantial pressure on that defense.

Monmouth, N.J. Hawks outlook

Monmouth’s 31-28 win at Dartmouth on Sept. 26 featured an efficient passing performance from Weaver. He completed 33 of 42 attempts for 313 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. Christian Harrison caught nine passes for 79 yards and a touchdown, while Tra Neal added three receptions for 55 yards and another score.

The Hawks also have two productive rushing options. Through five games, Elijah Jennings has 349 yards and two touchdowns on 74 carries. Kenny Smith Jr. has 333 yards and three touchdowns on 81 attempts, including a career-high 93 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries against Dartmouth.

That backfield contributed to a decisive closing possession: Monmouth ran 10 straight times for 44 yards before Sky Sholder’s winning field goal. The sequence offers a concrete example of how the Hawks could manage a close finish, although repeating it against Towson is no certainty.

Protection is another strength. Monmouth has allowed two sacks through five games and recorded 2.40 sacks per game defensively. The limiting factor is the margin of its success. All three victories were decided by one possession, leaving a meaningful gap between trusting the Hawks to win and backing them to cover a double-digit spread.

Key matchup factors

Possession quality matters more here than the difference in records alone. Towson’s yardage advantage last week shows it can generate offense; the turnovers explain why that production deserves caution. Monmouth’s protection gives Weaver a favorable foundation, but Towson’s recent giveaways should not be treated as guaranteed extra possessions for the Hawks.

There is also a distinction between moving the ball and creating a large margin. Monmouth has converted 39 of 75 third-down opportunities, supporting the expectation of sustained drives. Yet its wins have remained close. Towson leads the series 9-3, is 6-0 at Kessler Stadium, and the road team has won four straight meetings. That history tempers the home-field argument without outweighing current performance.

Towson Tigers vs Monmouth, N.J. Hawks spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Monmouth -10.5 (-127) and Towson +10.5 (-127). The projected seven-point Monmouth victory would favor Towson against the spread, but a forecast margin alone is insufficient reason to pay -127.

Towson’s four turnovers last week show how quickly a competitive offensive performance can unravel. Conversely, Monmouth’s three one-possession wins make laying 10.5 points uncomfortable. The Hawks have the stronger case to win outright, while the Tigers have a plausible route to staying within the number. Neither side earns an official spread wager at these prices.

Towson Tigers vs Monmouth, N.J. Hawks total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 56.5 (-125) and Under 56.5 (-125). Monmouth 31, Towson 24 produces 55 points, just 1.5 below the line. That modest difference leaves little room for scoring variation at the supplied price.

Both teams scored at least 28 points last week, and their quarterbacks combined for five touchdown passes. Those performances make an Over plausible. Monmouth’s ability to finish with repeated rushing attempts offers a possible restraint on late possessions. The scoring outlook remains too finely balanced to select either direction at 56.5.

Towson Tigers vs Monmouth, N.J. Hawks projected score

Game forecast: Monmouth 31, Towson 24. Weaver’s recent accuracy, Monmouth’s pass protection and its two productive running backs give the Hawks the stronger offensive foundation for this matchup. Expect enough successful possessions to secure the win, with Towson’s receiving production keeping the projected margin to one touchdown.

The strongest counterargument is that Towson just outgained an opponent despite losing, while Monmouth has yet to turn a victory into a margin beyond one possession. Better ball security could change the Tigers’ result. Confidence is low because the expected advantage is fragile. Both spread options and both total directions remain a Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
