Eastern Washington Eagles vs UC Davis Aggies Predictions October 3, 2026

Game time: October 3, 2026 at 10:30 PM ET

Venue: UC Davis Health Stadium — Davis, CA

Article updated Oct 1, 3:24 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

UC Davis will beat Eastern Washington 34-28, with Jordan Fisher’s rushing production offering the strongest matchup advantage against an Eagles defense that just surrendered 289 yards on the ground. The Aggies’ own defensive concerns make this a low-confidence forecast. At UC Davis -12.5 (-111) and a total of 60.5, neither market offers a convincing wager. The official recommendation is Pass.

Eastern Washington Eagles vs UC Davis Aggies prediction and best bet

UC Davis has a workable route to victory through Fisher and a passing attack featuring Samuel Gbatu Jr. Fisher gained 102 rushing yards against Montana on September 26, while Eastern Washington struggled badly with Cal Poly’s running game that same day. That matchup favors the Aggies, though their 62-22 loss to Montana makes a runaway victory difficult to project.

The best betting decision is Pass. Eastern Washington’s passing production and ability to force turnovers argue against laying 12.5 points. Taking the Eagles at +12.5 (-156) requires more conviction than their recent performance inspires. The projected 62 combined points also leave only a narrow gap above the 60.5 total.

Eastern Washington Eagles outlook

Eastern Washington’s 31-27 loss to Cal Poly showed both its ability to compete and the problems that make an upset difficult to predict. The Eagles led 27-21 in the third quarter before Cal Poly scored the final 10 points. Staying close was not the issue; protecting an advantage was.

Nate Bell completed 23 of 37 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions. That performance supplies a credible passing component for the forecast without suggesting a clean offensive game. Cal Poly recorded five sacks, and Eastern Washington finished with only 87 rushing yards. Kevin Allen III contributed 49 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

The larger concern is a defense that allowed 289 rushing yards on 41 attempts and was outgained 428-340. Those numbers make Fisher a particularly relevant threat. Eastern Washington’s answer could come through takeaways: it forced two interceptions and recovered a fumble against Cal Poly.

Ambrose Marsh and Jaylon Jenkins each collected their second interception of the season in that game. Eastern Washington has six interceptions in 2026 and at least one in 13 of its past 16 games. That record gives the Eagles a plausible way to disrupt UC Davis, although three takeaways were insufficient to beat Cal Poly.

UC Davis Aggies outlook

UC Davis enters with serious questions after losing 62-22 to Montana at home. The Aggies trailed 31-8 at halftime, and a muffed first-quarter punt led to a Montana touchdown drive. Both the score and that special-teams mistake deserve weight when considering whether UC Davis can justify a double-digit handicap.

Fisher nevertheless supplied useful production, rushing 19 times for 102 yards and a touchdown. Against Eastern Washington, the appeal is specific: his latest outing meets a defense that just conceded substantial rushing yardage. A productive ground game could help the Aggies avoid relying entirely on their passing attack.

Gbatu provides another reason to favor UC Davis. He caught six passes for 103 yards against Montana and reached 100 receiving yards in four of the Aggies’ first five games. He also recorded at least five catches in every one of those games. His repeated involvement is stronger evidence of a dependable receiving option than a single productive afternoon would be.

Treynor Cleeland completed 18 of 33 passes for 194 yards and one touchdown against Montana. UC Davis needs more effective scoring from that combination of rushing and receiving production. Fisher and Gbatu support a rebound forecast, but neither erases the uncertainty created by allowing 62 points.

Key matchup factors

The most consequential question is whether Eastern Washington can improve against the run without giving Gbatu favorable opportunities. Fisher’s production makes the ground game the starting point for the UC Davis forecast, while Gbatu’s repeated receiving output offers a second route to sustaining offense.

Turnovers could change that balance. Eastern Washington has a documented interception threat, and UC Davis’s recent punt mistake illustrates how quickly possession can become points for an opponent. Those possibilities keep the forecast close.

Series history offers a counterpoint: Eastern Washington leads 11-1 and is 5-0 in Davis. UC Davis won the latest meeting, 48-38 in 2024. Neither history nor that score should outweigh the current matchup.

Eastern Washington Eagles vs UC Davis Aggies spread prediction

Pass on UC Davis -12.5 (-111) and Eastern Washington +12.5 (-156). A six-point projected victory favors the Eagles relative to the handicap, but a score estimate alone is not enough to make their price attractive.

Eastern Washington’s run defense and protection problems leave room for a wider defeat if turnovers fail to help. UC Davis’s latest defensive performance creates the opposite concern for favorite bettors. The Aggies are the winner pick, but laying 12.5 points asks for a level of separation this forecast does not anticipate.

Eastern Washington Eagles vs UC Davis Aggies total prediction

Pass on Over 60.5 (-114) and Under 60.5 (-116). The projected 62 points give the Over a slight numerical lean, with Fisher’s matchup and Eastern Washington’s passing production contributing to the scoring case.

There are meaningful obstacles, too. Eastern Washington allowed five sacks against Cal Poly, while UC Davis scored only 22 points against Montana despite productive games from Fisher and Gbatu. Turnovers might shorten scoring drives or end promising possessions. That uncertainty is too large to treat a 1.5-point difference between the projection and total as a betting edge.

Eastern Washington Eagles vs UC Davis Aggies projected score

The game forecast is UC Davis 34, Eastern Washington 28, with low confidence. Fisher supplies the clearest matchup advantage, and Gbatu’s consistent receiving involvement gives the Aggies another reason to be favored in the prediction.

The strongest counterargument remains the 62 points UC Davis allowed against Montana. Eastern Washington also brings enough recent passing production and takeaway history to threaten the result, particularly if the Aggies make another costly special-teams mistake.

Expect UC Davis to win a competitive game, with substantial uncertainty around the margin and scoring pace. Both the spread and total recommendations remain Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
