William & Mary Tribe vs North Carolina Central Predictions October 10, 2026

Game time: October 10, 2026 at 1:00 PM ET

Venue: O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium — Durham, NC

Article updated Oct 7, 12:01 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

North Carolina Central will beat William & Mary 31-27 in our forecast for Oct. 10, 2026. The Eagles’ rushing threats offer the strongest matchup advantage against a Tribe defense that surrendered 203 rushing yards last week. Confidence is low, however, and neither North Carolina Central -3.5 (-128) nor the 58.5 total offers a compelling betting edge. The official SportsJaw recommendation is Pass.

William & Mary Tribe vs North Carolina Central prediction and best bet

North Carolina Central gets the pick because its recent offensive performance offers the more persuasive starting point. The Eagles scored 31 points in a seven-point loss to No. 18/24 Campbell on Oct. 3. William & Mary scored 14 against Holy Cross and struggled on both sides of the running game.

Those results favor the Eagles in this college football matchup, but they came against different opponents. Treating them as a precise measure of the gap between these teams would be a stretch. The forecast is a narrow North Carolina Central win, with Pass as the best betting decision.

Odds, game time and how to watch

Game time: Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at 1 p.m. ET.

Venue: O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. North Carolina Central is hosting William & Mary for Homecoming.

Broadcast: ESPN+.

Records: Both teams are 2-4. William & Mary is 1-3 in Patriot League play. North Carolina Central has lost three consecutive games and is playing its final nonconference game.

SportsJaw spread and moneyline: William & Mary +3.5 (+100) and +168; North Carolina Central -3.5 (-128) and -220.

SportsJaw total: Over 58.5 (-114); Under 58.5 (-116).

William & Mary Tribe outlook

William & Mary’s 41-14 loss to Holy Cross included some productive passing. Winston Watkins completed 15 of 29 attempts for 210 yards and two touchdowns. Khylil Johnson contributed two catches for 82 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown. The official recap reported his season average at 24.5 yards per reception.

Kai Austin added four catches for 58 yards and a touchdown. Those receiving performances give the Tribe a plausible route to scoring without first establishing a strong running game. The concern is whether protection will allow enough opportunities: Holy Cross sacked Watkins five times.

The Tribe finished with 31 rushing yards and was outgained 389-251 overall. Andrew King returned after missing the previous game with a lower-body injury, according to The Flat Hat’s Oct. 6 report. That return is encouraging, but the rushing performance still left William & Mary heavily dependent on its passing production.

North Carolina Central outlook

North Carolina Central’s 38-31 loss to Campbell featured several ways to reach the end zone. Zion Dobson rushed for 80 yards, including a 63-yard touchdown. Quarterback Nelson Layne scored on runs of 16 and three yards, giving the Eagles another rushing threat for William & Mary to account for.

Dobson’s long touchdown supplied most of his yardage, so that performance should not be mistaken for proof of consistent rushing efficiency. It does show the potential payoff if the Tribe leaves an opening.

Chance Peterson caught 10 passes for 84 yards. Cobey Thompkins completed all four attempts for 70 yards and a touchdown in limited action. His perfect completion rate is encouraging within that small sample, but it is no reason to assume similar production over a larger workload. The Eagles also conceded 38 points, an obvious caution against expecting a comfortable win.

Key matchup factors

The most useful matchup question is whether William & Mary can improve its run defense enough to make North Carolina Central rely more heavily on passing. Layne’s scoring runs add a different threat alongside Dobson. Their production makes the ground game the clearest reason to favor the Eagles.

Protection is the second pressure point. William & Mary’s receivers can deliver substantial gains, but another difficult day for Watkins in the pocket could limit that upside. The five sacks against Holy Cross identify a concern for the Tribe; they do not prove North Carolina Central will generate the same pressure.

William & Mary Tribe vs North Carolina Central spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on North Carolina Central -3.5 (-128) and William & Mary +3.5 (+100).

The projected four-point victory would cover North Carolina Central’s spread, but only narrowly. A low-confidence score forecast is too fragile to justify paying -128 on that distinction, especially with the Eagles coming off three straight defeats.

William & Mary’s explosive receiving plays make the underdog worth considering, but its recent protection and rushing problems weaken the case for taking +3.5 even at +100. Picking the Eagles to win and declining both spread prices is the appropriate separation between the forecast and the wager.

William & Mary Tribe vs North Carolina Central total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 58.5 (-114) and Under 58.5 (-116).

The Over case rests on North Carolina Central’s scoring potential against the Tribe’s run defense and William & Mary’s ability to answer through the air. The Under case centers on the possibility that sacks and limited rushing production stall the Tribe’s possessions.

Our projection totals 58 points, just below the line. That half-point difference is not a meaningful cushion given the uncertainty around both offenses. Neither total direction earns an official recommendation.

William & Mary Tribe vs North Carolina Central projected score

Game forecast: North Carolina Central 31, William & Mary 27. The Eagles’ rushing options tip the prediction toward the home team. The strongest counterargument is William & Mary’s downfield scoring ability against a team that just allowed 38 points.

Confidence: low. The matchup suggests a slight Eagles advantage, with enough uncertainty to keep both betting markets off the card. The single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
