Stanford Cardinal vs Louisville Cardinals Predictions October 31, 2026

Louisville will beat Stanford, with a projected score of Louisville 31, Stanford 17. Stanford’s 14-game road losing streak, combined with Louisville’s extra rest after a bye, gives the Cardinals the stronger winning case. Stanford’s improving offense complicates the margin, however, and neither Louisville -22.5 nor the 61.5 total offers a sufficiently clear betting edge. The official wager is Pass.

Stanford Cardinal vs Louisville Cardinals prediction and best bet

Louisville is the pick to win this October 31 matchup, but laying 22.5 points asks considerably more of the Cardinals. They enter after consecutive victories and a Week 8 bye. Stanford also has won two straight, including a 31-28 victory over NC State, yet still carries a road losing streak that stretches across 14 games.

The distinction matters: Stanford’s road history strengthens the Louisville forecast without settling the margin. Davis Warren and Micah Ford give the Cardinal a credible route to sustained offense, and their recent production deserves weight alongside that losing streak. The forecast is Louisville 31, Stanford 17, with low confidence. Neither market earns a bet; the official SportsJaw selection is Pass.

Stanford Cardinal outlook

Stanford’s offense has produced strikingly different results in wins and losses. Its four victories brought averages of 34.0 points and 485.5 offensive yards; its four defeats yielded 5.8 points and 233.8 yards. Those are outcome splits, not home-road averages. They illustrate the offense’s range without explaining how much of the difference belongs to location or opponent.

Warren supplies reasons to take the recent improvement seriously. Through eight games, he averaged 241.6 passing yards and had 11 passing touchdowns. Against NC State, he completed 22 of 37 attempts for 303 yards and four touchdowns. Stanford’s preview also placed him among 13 FBS quarterbacks with at least 200 attempts and no more than two interceptions.

Ford rushed for 150 yards and gained 208 yards from scrimmage against NC State. That was his second consecutive game reaching both 150 rushing yards and 200 scrimmage yards. His 329 rushing yards over the preceding two weeks led the nation.

Caden High’s eight-game totals were 30 receptions, 440 yards and four touchdowns, including nine catches for 103 yards and a touchdown against NC State. This combination gives Stanford multiple scoring avenues. Reproducing that balance on the road is the central challenge.

Louisville Cardinals outlook

Louisville’s bye is useful context because its recent personnel concerns extend beyond one player. The Courier Journal reported that running back Keyjuan Brown, defensive lineman AJ Green, cornerback DJ Waller and starting offensive lineman Anwar O’Neal had each missed at least one game during the season. Extra rest is favorable, although it should not be mistaken for confirmation that every player has recovered.

Brown returned in the October 17 win at Syracuse after missing one game. He carried 13 times for 50 yards and scored two touchdowns. That performance puts a recent productive outing behind him, but it is a modest rushing sample rather than proof that Louisville can dictate this game on the ground.

Quarterback Lincoln Kienholz had continued playing despite an apparent lower-leg injury, according to the same report. His condition adds uncertainty to an aggressive margin forecast even though he had not missed game time.

The defense offers a more concrete recent positive. Louisville recorded a season-high five sacks at Syracuse, with Tyler Thompson contributing two sacks and five tackles. Pressure could interrupt Warren’s rhythm, particularly if Louisville first limits Ford. Repeating that disruption against Stanford is an important part of the Cardinals’ winning case.

Key matchup factors

Ford’s influence extends beyond his own yardage. If he keeps Stanford moving on the ground, Louisville may have fewer opportunities to attack obvious passing situations. If the Cardinals contain him, their recent pass-rush production becomes more relevant. That interaction is more useful to the forecast than treating the Syracuse sack total as a guaranteed repeat.

Rest and uncertainty also pull in different directions. Louisville had a bye to recover, but Kienholz’s reported injury remains a reason for restraint. Stanford’s winning streak supports its offensive countercase, while the 14 straight road defeats favor Louisville. Neither streak tells us precisely how many points should separate these teams.

Stanford Cardinal vs Louisville Cardinals spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Stanford Cardinal +22.5 (-106) and Louisville Cardinals -22.5 (-111). The projected 14-point Louisville victory falls inside Stanford’s allowance, making the underdog the closer fit to the score forecast.

That numerical fit alone is insufficient for a wager. Stanford’s recent offensive success is encouraging, but its very low scoring average in defeats leaves a substantial downside. Conversely, Louisville’s rest advantage and Stanford’s road skid are stronger arguments for winning than for a victory by at least 23 points. There is too much uncertainty around the margin to select either side.

Stanford Cardinal vs Louisville Cardinals total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 61.5 (-110) and Under 61.5 (-110). Louisville 31, Stanford 17 produces 48 combined points, so Under is the direction suggested by the forecast.

The scoring case is less firm than that gap makes it appear. Stanford’s win-loss averages describe a wide range of outcomes, while its latest offensive performances supply a credible higher-scoring alternative. Louisville’s five sacks at Syracuse suggest disruption, but one game cannot define its expected defensive performance here. Without a stronger scoring baseline for Louisville, the projected total remains too fragile for an official wager.

Stanford Cardinal vs Louisville Cardinals projected score

Game forecast: Louisville 31, Stanford 17. Louisville gets the nod because Stanford’s prolonged road struggles meet a host coming off consecutive wins and extra rest. The Cardinals’ pressure against Syracuse offers a plausible way to slow Warren, provided Ford does not keep Stanford ahead of the defensive response.

The strongest counterargument is Stanford’s balanced recent production. Warren, Ford and High all contributed substantially against NC State, giving the Cardinal more than one way to challenge this forecast. Kienholz’s reported lower-leg issue adds another uncertainty. Confidence is low, but Louisville remains the projected winner. The spread and total are separate passes, and Pass is the single official SportsJaw wager.
