Wake Forest will beat Stanford, with a projected score of Wake Forest 31, Stanford 20. The Demon Deacons’ combination of passing production and rushing balance in their win at Louisville supplies the strongest reason to favor them on October 3. Neither Wake Forest -11.5 (-110) nor the 51.5 total offers a convincing betting edge, so the official SportsJaw recommendation is Pass.

Stanford Cardinal vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons prediction and best bet

Wake Forest gets the pick after generating 402 yards in a 30-27 road victory over No. 16 Louisville on September 26. Gio Lopez and Carlos Hernandez supplied the biggest passing threat, while 177 rushing yards gave the offense another way to move the ball. That combination makes a home victory a reasonable forecast.

The best bet is Pass. Winning and covering are separate questions at Wake Forest -11.5 (-110), and the projected 11-point margin falls short of a favorite cover. It also leaves only a half-point between the projected 51 combined points and the total. Those thin differences are too fragile to turn this low-confidence forecast into either an underdog or Under wager.

Stanford Cardinal outlook

Stanford’s defensive priority should be limiting Hernandez without giving Wake Forest an easy alternative on the ground. Hernandez accounted for 194 of the Demon Deacons’ 225 passing yards at Louisville. That concentration suggests a clear place to direct coverage attention, although committing extra defenders to one receiver creates its own tradeoffs.

The Cardinal also need to keep negative plays from dictating their possessions. Wake Forest recorded four sacks and nine tackles for loss in its latest game. Those figures identify a threat Stanford must address; they are not a measurement of how Stanford’s protection will perform in this matchup.

For the underdog, sustained possessions and fewer explosive gains allowed would be a sensible route to keeping the margin manageable. That is a proposed game plan, not an established Stanford strength. Current Cardinal offensive production, defensive results and personnel updates are missing from the supporting reporting, leaving a much thinner basis for evaluating their execution. The +11.5 cushion is meaningful, but choosing Stanford against the spread would require more than simply placing the projected margin just inside that number.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons outlook

Wake Forest’s September 26 performance gives the forecast its clearest foundation. Lopez completed 12 of 19 passes for 225 yards and one touchdown against Louisville. The team’s recap credited him with 1,112 passing yards through four games, third in the ACC at that point.

Hernandez caught nine passes for 194 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown. His 516 receiving yards through four games led the conference, according to that recap. His production gives Wake Forest a compelling focal point, although the Louisville distribution also raises a useful question: how would the offense respond if Stanford forced more throws elsewhere?

Ty Clark III offers one answer on the ground. He carried 21 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns as Wake Forest finished with 177 rushing yards. That contribution supports a scoring forecast built on more than another long touchdown reception.

The defensive disruption was substantial too. Gabe Kirschke registered two sacks, and Langston Hardy had two tackles for loss and a sack. Still, Louisville scored 27 points, and Dallas Afalava needed to block a 54-yard field-goal attempt with 18 seconds remaining to preserve the win. Wake Forest earned an impressive result, but its narrow finish is a reason to temper expectations of comfortable separation.

Key matchup factors

The central tactical question is how Stanford allocates defenders between Hernandez and the running game. Extra coverage attention could reduce the chances of another explosive reception, but Clark’s workload and production give Wake Forest a plausible response. The forecast favors the offense’s options without assuming that Louisville’s results will repeat.

Drive disruption matters just as much to the margin. Sacks can leave an underdog chasing difficult conversions, while avoiding them can keep the favorite from accumulating extra opportunities. Wake Forest demonstrated that disruptive potential last week. The missing Stanford comparison keeps the confidence low: there is a concrete case for picking the Demon Deacons, but a less complete case for estimating the size of their advantage.

Stanford Cardinal vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons spread prediction

Pass on the spread: Wake Forest -11.5 (-110) and Stanford +11.5 (-110). The favorite needs a victory by at least 12 points to cover. Wake Forest 31, Stanford 20 would instead produce a Stanford cover by half a point.

That arithmetic is not enough to recommend the Cardinal. The forecast is particularly sensitive to incomplete information about Stanford, and a small scoring adjustment would flip the projected cover. Wake Forest’s productive offense supports the winner selection, while the close Louisville finish argues against treating a double-digit victory as routine.

Stanford Cardinal vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons total prediction

Pass on Over 51.5 (-115) and Under 51.5 (-105). The projected 51 points sit half a point below the total, giving the Under only a nominal lean.

Wake Forest’s 30-point outing and long touchdown reception make a higher-scoring outcome plausible. Its sacks could also stall possessions, which pulls the scoring case in the other direction. Without a grounded assessment of Stanford’s offense, assigning those competing possibilities enough weight to justify either price would be speculative. Under costs less than Over at the supplied prices, but that difference alone does not make it a worthwhile bet.

Stanford Cardinal vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons projected score

The game forecast is Wake Forest 31, Stanford 20, with low confidence. Wake Forest’s passing production, credible rushing contribution and recent defensive pressure provide the reasons to select the home team. The score is an editorial estimate of how those strengths might translate against Stanford.

The strongest counterargument is that the Louisville victory remained vulnerable to a tying field goal in the closing seconds. Add the limited Stanford performance detail, and a decisive margin becomes harder to trust. Wake Forest remains the projected winner, but neither spread side nor either total direction earns a recommendation at the supplied lines. The single official SportsJaw wager is Pass.
