New Jersey Devils vs New York Islanders prediction, odds and best bet for Nov. 7, 2026

Game time: November 7, 2026 at 7:00 PM ET

Venue: UBS Arena — Elmont, NY

Article updated Nov 6, 11:44 PM EST

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

The New Jersey Devils will beat the New York Islanders, Devils 3, Islanders 2, in our Nov. 7 forecast. New Jersey’s seven wins in eight games provide the strongest reason to favor the visitors. The close outside projections temper that advantage, however, and the supplied prices offer no compelling wager. SportsJaw’s official betting recommendation is Pass, with low confidence in the game forecast.

New Jersey Devils vs New York Islanders prediction and best bet

New Jersey is the pick to win, but neither puck-line side nor the total earns an official bet. The Devils’ recent results give them the stronger case, while the accepted outside forecasts suggest a narrow advantage rather than a comfortable victory.

bayesRatings assigns New Jersey a 57% win probability and projects Devils 3.1, Islanders 2.7. Covers’ computer projects Devils 3.24, Islanders 2.74. Those are other analysts’ estimates, and their agreement is useful context, not independent proof that New Jersey is underpriced.

At -145, the Devils need to win approximately 59.2% of the time to break even on a moneyline bet. The bayesRatings estimate falls below that threshold. Our forecast also favors New Jersey, but selecting the likely winner is different from finding a favorable price. The official recommendation is Pass.

Odds, game time and how to watch

Game time: Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, at 7 p.m. ET. This is a 2026-27 NHL matchup with New Jersey visiting New York.

Venue: UBS Arena.

Records and streaks: The Devils are 11-5-0 and have won three straight. The Islanders are 7-6-2, according to New Jersey’s official game preview.

21+. Gambling problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. Picks are opinions, not guarantees. Past results do not predict future outcomes.

Goalie projections: bayesRatings uses Connor Hellebuyck for New Jersey and Ilya Sorokin for New York as probable starters in its forecast. Those selections are model inputs, not official lineup announcements.

SportsJaw odds: New Jersey Devils -1.5 (+174); New York Islanders +1.5 (-200). Moneyline: New Jersey Devils -145; New York Islanders +128. Total: Over 6 (-102); Under 6 (-114).

New Jersey Devils outlook

The Devils’ official preview reports a 7-1-0 record over their last eight games. That sustained run carries more weight in this forecast than any single result, although their latest victory offers a clear warning about expecting a smooth finish.

On Nov. 5, New Jersey beat St. Louis 5-4 in overtime after surrendering a 4-1 third-period lead. St. Louis scored three times in 3:08 before Jesper Bratt delivered the overtime breakaway winner. New Jersey recovered, but that game illustrates why a winning forecast need not come with a two-goal-margin prediction.

The official preview also reports Hellebuyck is 4-0 since arriving in an Oct. 23 trade. That is encouraging team-reported context. It should not be treated as confirmation that he will start against the Islanders.

New York Islanders outlook

New York’s 7-6-2 record leaves room for a competitive home performance without making the Islanders our preferred winner. The most useful counterweight to New Jersey’s form is the modest separation in the outside forecasts: neither bayesRatings nor Covers’ computer projects a margin of even one full goal.

That keeps an Islanders victory within the plausible range of outcomes. bayesRatings gives New York a 43% chance, a meaningful possibility even while favoring the visitors. We are not assigning the Islanders a goaltending advantage simply because Sorokin appears in that model’s probable lineup.

For this forecast, New York’s route is to keep the score close enough that one decisive chance can reverse the expected result. That is an editorial scenario, not a claim that the Islanders have demonstrated a particular defensive or special-teams edge.

Key matchup factors

Covers analyst Phil Naessens backs the Devils moneyline, citing his assessment of their five-on-five expected-goal share above 58%. That is his analytical rationale. Our own factual case rests on the recent results documented by the official preview.

The distinction matters at the betting window: Naessens favors a New Jersey moneyline wager, while bayesRatings’ 57% estimate falls short of the break-even rate at SportsJaw’s -145. They agree on the likely winner without supplying the same case for a bet.

SportsJaw’s blended moneyline consensus favors New Jersey at 64%, updated Nov. 7 at 4:30 a.m. UTC. Its estimated combined sample represents 384 Devils selections and 216 Islanders selections, totaling 600 modeled equivalent selections. These are not observed sportsbook tickets. The selection share is also separate from a win probability or our forecast confidence.

New Jersey Devils vs New York Islanders spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on New Jersey Devils -1.5 (+177) and New York Islanders +1.5 (-205). Our one-goal projection does not justify backing New Jersey to win by at least two, and the outside projected margins are similarly narrow.

The Islanders’ cushion fits the score forecast, but -205 requires a high rate of successful covers. A projected close game alone is not enough to justify that cost. Neither cited model supplies a puck-line cover probability here, leaving no persuasive price advantage on either side.

New Jersey Devils vs New York Islanders total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 6 (-102) and Under 6 (-114). bayesRatings projects 5.8 combined goals; Covers’ computer projects 5.98. Both sit close to the supplied total, where exactly six goals would produce a push.

Our 3-2 forecast points toward the Under, but a single projected score does not measure how often the game finishes below six. New Jersey’s recent 5-4 result adds a caution against treating a low-scoring outcome as secure, without proving that the Over offers value.

New Jersey Devils vs New York Islanders Projected Score & Betting Picks

Game forecast: New Jersey Devils 3, New York Islanders 2. The Devils’ seven wins in eight games drive the selection, supported directionally by the outside projections.

The strongest counterargument is how little separation those projections show. New York has a credible upset chance, and the goalie forecasts remain provisional. Confidence is low. SportsJaw’s single official betting lean is Pass, with both the puck line and total also passed at the supplied prices.
