Carolina Hurricanes vs Chicago Blackhawks Predictions October 10, 2026

Game time: October 10, 2026 at 7:00 PM ET

Venue: United Center — Chicago, IL

Article updated Oct 9, 10:31 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

The Carolina Hurricanes will beat the Chicago Blackhawks, Hurricanes 4, Blackhawks 2, in our October 10 forecast. Carolina's sustained power-play production and contributions from several scorers give it the stronger recent offensive case. Confidence is low, however, and the supplied prices offer no compelling wager: pass on Hurricanes -1.5 (-113) and the 6.5 total.

Carolina Hurricanes vs Chicago Blackhawks prediction and best bet

Carolina is the pick, with its recent scoring providing the clearest reason to favor the visitors. The Hurricanes beat Vancouver 7-2 on October 8 for their third consecutive victory. Chicago lost 4-1 to the Islanders that same day. Those performances favor Carolina, although results against different opponents are an imperfect guide to this matchup.

The best bet is Pass. Carolina's recent production supports an outright forecast more comfortably than a bet requiring a two-goal victory. A 4-2 projection gives the Hurricanes a cover and puts the game below 6.5, but neither outcome has enough supporting evidence to justify its price.

Odds, game time and how to watch

Date and matchup: Carolina Hurricanes at Chicago Blackhawks, October 10, 2026, in the 2026-27 NHL season.

Venue: United Center. Chicago's official October 8 recap identifies this game as the start of its season-long seven-game homestand.

SportsJaw moneyline: Carolina -208; Chicago +208.

SportsJaw puck line: Carolina -1.5 (-113); Chicago +1.5 (-138).

SportsJaw total: Over 6.5 (-108); Under 6.5 (-138).

Recent form: Carolina has won three consecutive games. Chicago returns home following its October 8 road loss to the Islanders.

Carolina Hurricanes outlook

Logan Stankoven supplied the standout individual performance against Vancouver, recording his first NHL hat trick and reaching 100 career NHL points. Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 18 of 20 shots. The offensive result and Kochetkov's performance both contributed to the five-goal victory, but that appearance alone is no reason to assign him Saturday's start.

Carolina also has production extending beyond that one game. Through October 8, Sebastian Aho had four goals and four assists during a four-game point streak. Andrei Svechnikov had three goals and three assists across his own four-game streak, while Jackson Blake had five assists during a four-game point streak.

Those contributions make Carolina the more persuasive offensive choice here. They offer several recent examples of players creating goals, though they should not be treated as a guarantee that another seven-goal performance is coming.

Chicago Blackhawks outlook

Frank Nazar provides Chicago's strongest recent scoring response. His goal with 2:34 remaining against the Islanders was his second in consecutive games. Through that contest, he had two goals and one assist this season. His production is encouraging, even though Chicago's latest team result was a difficult offensive night.

Patrick Kane and Sam Rinzel assisted on Nazar's goal, and Rinzel had points in consecutive games. Arvid Soderblom made 15 saves and became the 12th goaltender to reach 3,000 saves for the Blackhawks.

The seven-game homestand gives Chicago a change of setting. That matters to the context of the forecast, but the length of the homestand is no measure of how well the Blackhawks will defend Carolina. Chicago's case for a closer game rests more usefully on Nazar continuing to contribute.

Key matchup factors

Carolina's power play is the strongest specific factor favoring the Hurricanes. It converted all three opportunities against Vancouver and had scored in four consecutive games. Its seven power-play goals ranked second in the league when the official recap was published on October 9.

That form makes Chicago's discipline potentially important: penalties would give a productive unit additional opportunities. It is a conditional advantage, however, rather than evidence of a proven mismatch against Chicago's penalty kill.

Carolina also begins a weekend back-to-back with this game, according to its official recap. That schedule adds context without establishing a goaltending choice or a fatigue disadvantage for Saturday.

Carolina Hurricanes vs Chicago Blackhawks spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Carolina Hurricanes -1.5 (-113). The forecast favors a two-goal win, exactly the minimum winning margin needed to cover. That leaves little room for Chicago to improve on its latest offensive performance before the projected cover becomes a one-goal Carolina victory.

Chicago Blackhawks +1.5 (-138) is also a Pass. Receiving the goal and a half is useful, but Carolina's scoring form is a substantial counterargument at that price. The recent results favor the Hurricanes without making either puck-line option a compelling wager.

Carolina Hurricanes vs Chicago Blackhawks total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on 6.5, both Over 6.5 (-108) and Under 6.5 (-138). Carolina's seven-goal performance and power-play streak create a plausible route to the Over. Chicago's one-goal showing points toward a less productive contribution from the home side.

The projected six goals sit below the line, but that modest gap is not enough to justify Under 6.5 (-138). Two recent games against different opponents leave substantial uncertainty around the scoring range. Neither total price offers a persuasive advantage.

Carolina Hurricanes vs Chicago Blackhawks projected score

Game forecast: Hurricanes 4, Blackhawks 2. Carolina's sustained scoring contributions and power-play form earn the selection. The strongest counterargument is that this forecast draws heavily on a short stretch, while Nazar's consecutive scoring games give Chicago a route to make the contest tighter.

Confidence: low. Carolina is the projected winner, but the evidence is stronger on recent offensive form than on Saturday's likely margin or total. The single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
