Jacksonville Jaguars vs Cincinnati Bengals Predictions October 4, 2026

Game time: October 4, 2026 at 1:00 PM ET

Venue: Paycor Stadium — Cincinnati, OH

Article updated Oct 1, 3:47 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Jacksonville will beat Cincinnati, Jaguars 27, Bengals 24, with Trevor Lawrence’s efficient passing providing the strongest matchup reason against a secondary managing several injuries. That is a low-confidence forecast for the October 4 game, and Jacksonville +2.5 (-104) offers too little cushion to turn the lean into an actionable wager. The official recommendation is Pass, including the 51.5-point total.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Cincinnati Bengals prediction and best bet

Jacksonville gets the pick because its passing profile presents a specific challenge for Cincinnati. Lawrence has seven touchdown passes against two interceptions through three games, while the Jaguars rank fifth in offensive success rate. Those numbers make a competitive offensive performance a reasonable expectation against a secondary with multiple players on the injury report.

The forecast is Jaguars 27, Bengals 24. The best betting decision is Pass. Cincinnati’s safety availability could improve before kickoff, and Jacksonville has injury concerns of its own. Taking 2.5 points has appeal, but an outright prediction built on a slight matchup lean is not enough to establish value at Jacksonville +2.5 (-104).

Odds, game time and how to watch

Game: Jacksonville Jaguars at Cincinnati Bengals, 2026 NFL season, Sunday, October 4. Time: The Bengals’ viewing guide lists 1 p.m. EST.

Jacksonville record: 2-1 after beating New England 35-6.

SportsJaw total: Over 51.5 (-105); Under 51.5 (-112). These prices set the terms for the separate spread and total evaluations below.

Jacksonville Jaguars outlook

Jacksonville averages 27.0 points per game, 10th in the NFL, and 5.5 yards per play, 11th. Its 49.7% offensive success rate ranks fifth. Together, those measures support an offense with more going for it than the lopsided New England result alone. The efficiency figures are encouraging, although three games remain a small sample for projecting another opponent.

Lawrence’s 107.8 passer rating ranks eighth among qualified passers, and his 7.6 yards per attempt ranks 10th. His seven touchdowns and two interceptions strengthen the case for trusting Jacksonville to produce points. The most relevant stylistic detail is that 37% of his attempts travel 10 to 20 air yards, the highest share among qualified passers. That gives Cincinnati’s defensive backs a particular area to prepare for.

Wednesday’s injury report adds uncertainty to that outlook. Receiver Jakobi Meyers was limited with a thumb injury, and running back LeQuint Allen Jr. was limited with a hip injury. Cornerback Montaric Brown and defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton were also limited, with hamstring and back injuries, respectively. Cornerback Jarrian Jones participated fully with a hip injury. These are practice designations, so the forecast should not treat those players as confirmed absences.

Cincinnati Bengals outlook

Cincinnati’s central concern is how its secondary will look by Sunday. Safety Jordan Battle was limited Wednesday with a hamstring injury, Bryan Cook was limited with an ankle injury, and Kyle Dugger did not participate because of a quadricep injury. Coach Zac Taylor said Cook and Dugger had not been ruled out after Wednesday’s walkthrough. Their potential availability is meaningful counterevidence to a strong Jacksonville position.

Other absences are firmer. Slot cornerback Jalen Davis went on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, and Ja'Sir Taylor is ineligible to return from injured reserve until after the Jacksonville game. Those restrictions leave Cincinnati with fewer options, but they do not tell us how effectively the remaining defenders will play. Lawrence’s intermediate passing preference makes the personnel situation relevant without guaranteeing a defensive breakdown.

Defensive tackle B.J. Hill missed Wednesday’s practice with an Achilles injury. Guard Dalton Risner also did not participate because of a knee injury, while rookie receiver Colbie Young was ruled out with a knee injury. Risner’s practice absence should not be grouped with Young’s confirmed absence. Cincinnati remains the home favorite at -143, but its price alone is no substitute for an assessment of its offensive production.

Key matchup factors

The decisive question is whether Jacksonville can turn its passing efficiency into enough scoring to overcome a narrow favorite. Cincinnati’s safety health affects that assessment: a healthier group would weaken the clearest reason for leaning toward the Jaguars. Meyers’ thumb injury also matters to Jacksonville’s own passing outlook.

The strongest SportsJaw blended consensus preference is Over 51.5 at 68%, updated October 1 at 07:41 UTC, up one percentage point from September 30. Its equivalent sample contains 408 Over selections and 192 Under selections, combining modeled sportsbook participation with SportsJaw participation. Those figures are not observed sportsbook ticket totals or a 68% probability that the game goes Over.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Cincinnati Bengals spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Jacksonville +2.5 (-104) and Cincinnati -2.5 (-115). Jacksonville’s efficiency and Cincinnati’s secondary injuries favor the underdog in the forecast, but the size of that advantage remains uncertain. Taking 2.5 points would still lose if Cincinnati won by a field goal.

The Jaguars’ own injury report and the possibility that Cook and Dugger play keep this from becoming a clear spread recommendation. Cincinnati’s favorite status also supplies no independent reason to lay the points. The forecast favors Jacksonville; neither spread price earns an official wager.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Cincinnati Bengals total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 51.5 (-105) and Under 51.5 (-112). Jacksonville’s scoring average and Cincinnati’s secondary concerns make the Over plausible, and the blended consensus leans that way. However, Jacksonville’s production tells only part of the scoring story.

The projected 51 points sit just half a point below the line, too close to justify an Under from the score alone. Cincinnati’s offensive baseline and both defenses’ likely game-day personnel remain important gaps in the scoring assessment. Popularity is not a reason to back the Over or automatically oppose it.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Cincinnati Bengals projected score

Game forecast: Jacksonville Jaguars 27, Cincinnati Bengals 24. Lawrence’s efficiency and willingness to work the intermediate range give Jacksonville the most specific positive matchup case. The Jaguars’ broader offensive numbers reinforce that lean without requiring another result as decisive as the New England win.

The strongest counterargument is that Cincinnati could get its questionable safeties onto the field, narrowing the anticipated passing advantage. Jacksonville’s own limitations in Wednesday’s practice add uncertainty, and the fuller statistical picture of its offense should not be mistaken for proof of superiority in every phase. Confidence is low. The single official SportsJaw betting recommendation is Pass, with both the spread and total left alone.
