Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions prediction: Lions 30, Packers 27

Game time: October 25, 2026 at 4:25 PM ET

Venue: Ford Field — Detroit, MI

Article updated Oct 25, 7:52 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

The Detroit Lions will beat the Green Bay Packers 30-27, with their offense the strongest reason to favor the home team. Detroit averages 32.8 points against a defense missing Zaire Franklin, Edgerrin Cooper and Micah Parsons. Green Bay’s recent scoring makes Over 55 (-110) an actionable, modest edge at the supplied price. The spread is a Pass.

Green Bay Packers vs Detroit Lions prediction and best bet

Detroit gets the winner pick because its offensive production meets a particularly difficult injury situation for Green Bay. The Lions enter this matchup tied with Buffalo for the NFL lead in scoring and fourth in yards per game. Losing two linebackers and Parsons leaves the Packers with a challenging assignment against that offense.

The best bet is Over 55 (-110). Green Bay has reached at least 27 points in four of its previous five games, giving the scoring case support beyond Detroit’s production. The forecast is Lions 30, Packers 27, with medium confidence. That suggests a competitive game, but the case for betting the spread is weaker than the case for points.

Green Bay Packers outlook

Jordan Love gives Green Bay a credible route to matching Detroit’s scoring. In six starts against the Lions, he has thrown for 1,415 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions, with a 101.6 passer rating. His three Ford Field starts include 708 passing yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions. Those are encouraging matchup results, although three road starts remain a limited sample.

Christian Watson has contributed 25 receptions, 478 yards and three touchdowns across seven games against Detroit. More recently, the Packers have scored 31, 27, 31, 14 and 29 points in their previous five games. The 14-point result is a reminder that their production can fall well short of what this total requires.

The running game is the clear weakness: Green Bay ranks last in both yards per rush, at 2.9, and rushing yards per game, at 59.8. That makes Love especially important to the forecast. Guard Aaron Banks is questionable with knee and toe injuries, while receiver Bo Melton is questionable with a back injury.

Defensively, Franklin is out with a shin injury, Cooper’s Week 5 Achilles tear ended his season, and Parsons will miss this game while rehabilitating a torn ACL. Those absences weigh heavily against an outright Packers pick.

Detroit Lions outlook

Detroit’s 32.8 points and 393.8 yards per game give the Lions the strongest current offensive profile in the supplied evidence. The scoring average supports a projection around 30 points without requiring an exceptional performance. Green Bay’s defensive absences strengthen that assessment, though injuries alone cannot tell us how many additional points Detroit will score.

Franklin’s absence follows the loss of Cooper. Isaiah McDuffie and Ty’Ron Hopper had platooned beside Franklin since Cooper’s injury, so Green Bay now faces another adjustment at linebacker. That is a favorable circumstance for Detroit, even without assuming a particular play-calling approach or individual player matchup.

The Lions’ practice report offers some encouragement. Brian Branch, managing an Achilles injury, and center Cade Mays, dealing with a wrist injury, were listed as full participants Wednesday through Friday. Rock Ya-Sin went from limited participation Wednesday and Thursday to full participation Friday with a hamstring injury. Wednesday’s entries were estimates because Detroit did not practice.

Detroit also ranks third in opponent average kickoff starting field position, at the 28-yard line, and eighth in opponent punt-return average, at 8.0 yards. Those coverage results could help limit Green Bay’s starting opportunities. They also temper the Over case: favorable offensive conditions do not mean every possession will produce points.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether Green Bay’s passing production can compensate for its weak rushing output while Detroit tests a defense missing three significant players. Love’s history gives the Packers a plausible answer, but the Lions’ current scoring average carries more weight in the winner forecast than a small set of past meetings.

At the October 25 update, 11:37 UTC, the blended total consensus favored Over 55 at 70%, while SportsJaw members favored Under at 100%. The combined equivalent sample was 421 Over selections and 180 Under selections. Those counts mix a modeled sportsbook sample with SportsJaw participation; they are not observed sportsbook tickets or a 70% probability of winning.

Green Bay Packers vs Detroit Lions spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Green Bay +3.5 (-102) and Detroit -3.5 (-110). The projected three-point Detroit win falls on Green Bay’s side of the spread, but that half-point cushion is too narrow to carry the wager by itself.

The previous eight meetings in Detroit were decided by one possession, with an aggregate score of 207-207. That supports expecting competition, but a one-possession result can still cover Detroit’s spread. Green Bay’s passing history argues against laying the points; its defensive injuries argue against confidently taking them. Neither side offers a sufficiently convincing price advantage.

Green Bay Packers vs Detroit Lions total prediction

Total recommendation: Over 55 (-110), the single official wager. Detroit’s scoring average and Green Bay’s four games of at least 27 points in its past five supply separate reasons to expect offense. The Packers have also scored at least 28 in each of their previous three Ford Field appearances.

The projected 57 points leave only a modest cushion. Green Bay’s rushing difficulties and recent 14-point outing are meaningful risks, and Detroit’s coverage units could make scoring drives harder. Still, the combination of recent scoring and Green Bay’s defensive losses makes the Over the stronger wager.

Green Bay Packers vs Detroit Lions Projected Score & Betting Picks

Game forecast: Detroit Lions 30, Green Bay Packers 27. Detroit’s offensive rankings and the Packers’ missing defenders give the Lions the edge. Green Bay’s recent scoring and Love’s productive Detroit appearances keep the forecast close rather than pointing to a comfortable home win.

The strongest counterargument is that Love can outperform this projection and turn a narrow defeat into a Packers victory. Conversely, Green Bay’s rushing weakness could undermine its contribution to the total. Confidence is medium, reflecting a supported but ordinary edge with credible risks. The spread remains a Pass at Green Bay +3.5 (-102) and Detroit -3.5 (-110). Over 55 (-110) is the official SportsJaw wager.
