Washington Commanders
Washington began the year 2-0 after comeback wins over the Cardinals and Broncos, however, last week’s game against Buffalo proved to be too much for the Commanders resulting in a 37-3 loss. The Commanders gained only 230 yards on offense, went 1-9 on third down, allowed nine sacks and turned the ball over five times in a first game against a strong defense. For the offense, quarterback Sam Howell's tenure as a starter is in its first full season. The Commanders averaged 8.1 yards per carry last week and have 5.0 average yards per carry this season, which is currently ranked 3rd. Logan Thomas appears to be set to clear concussion protocols and, therefore, all offensive starters should be suiting up for this week’s Eagles game. The Commanders defense finished seventh in scoring last season, however, have allowed at least 30 points in their past two weeks. Last Sunday was the first game without a sack, but they still recorded a takeaway. Their run defense has been struggling, allowing 5.0 yards per rush in the past two weeks and receiving little to no air testing due to the trailing of the Commanders in most of their games. Even the back seven of their defense is allowing 7.0 yards per pass attempt. In conclusion, Washington is bleeding 5.4 yards per snap and this needs to change before the Eagles game. Washington began the season 2-0, but lost to Buffalo 37-3 last week. Offense currently averages 5.0 yards per carry (ranked 3rd), and all offensive starters will be suiting up against the Eagles. Defense has allowed 30+ points in two of the past three weeks, and are bleeding 5.4 yards per snap. Washington is ranked 20th overall, 7th in offense, 18th in defense, and is 2-1 (1-2 ATS).
