Temple’s rushing production and defensive struggles pull the analysis in different directions, leaving a pass at Army -3 and a total of 49.
The Army Black Knights visit the Temple Owls on Friday, September 25, in the 2026 college football season. Temple enters after a 49-48 overtime loss at Toledo on September 19 that dropped the Owls to 1-2.
Temple gained 425 total yards, including 261 on the ground. Samuel Brown’s Temple debut supplied much of that production: 109 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries, plus three receptions for 27 yards and another touchdown.
The defensive results complicate that encouraging offensive picture. Toledo amassed 536 total yards, with 429 passing yards and four passing touchdowns. Temple held a 42-28 lead with 1:11 remaining, but two Toledo touchdowns and an onside-kick recovery erased the advantage. After both teams scored touchdowns in overtime, Temple’s unsuccessful two-point pass ended the game.
SportsJaw lists Army at -155 on the moneyline and -3 (-112) on the spread. Temple is +130 on the moneyline and +3 (-108). The total is 49, with over 49 (-110) and under 49 (-110).
Temple’s rushing output gives a reason to examine the home underdog, while its defensive performance raises concern. Neither establishes how this game should unfold without a comparable assessment of Army’s offense and defense. The Toledo result alone also cannot justify an over: one high-scoring overtime game offers too little basis for projecting this matchup’s scoring.
The September 21 Covers injury report lists Army receiver Noah Dolbin and Temple receivers Reis Stocksdale and Coen Logan as questionable, with their availability for this matchup unresolved. Temple receiver Ramier Hardy also carries a questionable designation, but his September 17 entry does not confirm his status for Army.
Those uncertainties leave too little support for choosing a winner, projecting a score or recommending either total direction. Betting lean: Pass.
