Liberty Flames vs New Mexico St. Aggies prediction, odds and best bet for Nov. 7

Game time: November 7, 2026 at 8:00 PM ET

Venue: Aggie Memorial Stadium — Las Cruces, NM

Article updated Nov 6, 12:42 AM EST

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Liberty will beat New Mexico State, with a projected score of Liberty Flames 27, New Mexico State Aggies 13. The Flames’ conference-leading rushing defense gives them the strongest matchup advantage against James Jones and the Aggies. That supports picking Liberty to win, but neither the supplied 16.5-point spread nor the 46.5 total offers a convincing wager. The official SportsJaw recommendation is Pass.

Liberty Flames vs New Mexico St. Aggies prediction and best bet

Liberty’s advantage begins with its ability to run the ball and defend the run. The Flames lead Conference USA in both categories, giving them a credible route to controlling the matchup against New Mexico State’s productive rushing attack.

The best betting decision is Pass. Liberty is the stronger winner selection, but the Aggies’ defensive disruption complicates laying 16.5 points. A lower-scoring forecast is reasonable, too, without making Under 46.5 (-110) an automatic purchase. The projected result and the threshold for risking money serve different purposes.

Liberty Flames outlook

Liberty’s November 5 game preview reports 212.3 rushing yards per game on offense and 105.1 allowed on defense, both first in CUSA. The Flames are 7-0 when they outrush their opponent. That record reinforces the importance of the ground game without promising the same outcome Saturday.

No opposing player has reached 100 rushing yards against Liberty this season. Jones presents a meaningful test of that streak, and containing him would put more responsibility on the rest of New Mexico State’s offense.

The Flames have outscored opponents 80-27 in fourth quarters. Kicker Chase Reeves is also 11-for-11 on field goals in his first Liberty season. Those results support confidence in their ability to finish, although field goals in place of touchdowns could leave a substantial spread uncovered.

New Mexico St. Aggies outlook

New Mexico State’s November 2 preview lists Jones with 889 rushing yards on 139 carries through eight games. His 111.1 yards per game lead CUSA, and he has five 100-yard performances. The Aggies average 156.8 rushing yards per game, third in the conference.

Their October 28 loss to Jacksonville State shows why rushing production alone is insufficient. Jones gained 112 yards and TJ Washington Jr. added a career-high 70, yet New Mexico State lost 24-0. The Aggies need those gains to become scoring drives against Liberty.

Defensively, New Mexico State allows 136.0 rushing yards per game, third in CUSA, and leads the league with 6.4 tackles for loss per game. Sone Aupiu has 8.5 tackles for loss and Gabe Peterson has 8.0. That ability to disrupt plays gives the home team a plausible way to interrupt Liberty’s preferred attack.

Key matchup factors

The central question is how much Liberty can reduce Jones’ impact. A successful afternoon against him would strengthen the Flames’ path to victory. Conversely, sustained production from Jones could make the game considerably tighter than Liberty’s status as a large favorite suggests.

Turnovers introduce another source of uncertainty. New Mexico State reports eight interceptions, first in CUSA, and a forced turnover in 23 of its last 24 games dating to 2024. A takeaway could help the underdog stay close, but a short field could also increase scoring. Defensive disruption is not exclusively an argument for the Under.

As of November 6 at 05:32 UTC, external consensus and the blended consensus both favor Liberty -16.5 at 69% and Over 46.5 at 73%. The total’s modeled equivalent sample is 438 Over selections out of 600, an estimate rather than observed tickets or a SportsJaw member-pick count. Over support increased one percentage point from November 5. These percentages describe selection preference, not win probability.

Liberty Flames vs New Mexico St. Aggies spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Liberty -16.5 (-112) and New Mexico State +16.5 (-105). The projected 14-point margin falls on the Aggies’ side, but the cushion is too modest to treat that forecast as a strong betting advantage.

New Mexico State’s official preview says the Aggies held late fourth-quarter leads in the previous two meetings despite losing both. That is a useful counterargument to expecting a comfortable Liberty cover. Still, Liberty’s current rushing profile and fourth-quarter results make the underdog vulnerable to a late margin increase. The consensus favors the opposite spread side from our projected result.

Liberty Flames vs New Mexico St. Aggies total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 46.5 (-109) and Under 46.5 (-110). The 40-point projection favors a lower-scoring outcome, with both teams’ run defenses contributing to that judgment. Neither rushing-defense ranking tells us how many possessions or scoring opportunities this particular game will produce.

Bleacher Nation’s Data Skrive analysis recommends Under 46.5 and picks Liberty to win. Those are another analyst’s selections. Its Under position opposes the 73% Over consensus. Our forecast also falls below the total, but Liberty’s rushing production and the possibility of turnover-created scoring chances leave enough uncertainty to withhold an official total wager.

Liberty Flames vs New Mexico St. Aggies Projected Score & Betting Picks

Game forecast: Liberty Flames 27, New Mexico State Aggies 13. Confidence is medium in the winner selection. Liberty’s balance on the ground provides the clearest advantage; New Mexico State’s disruptive defense and Jones’ production are the strongest counterarguments.

The forecast favors Liberty to win and New Mexico State to finish within the spread, with scoring below 46.5. Those projected outcomes carry more uncertainty than the winner selection. Both market recommendations remain Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
