Temple Owls vs Navy Midshipmen Betting Picks & Predictions

Game time: November 7, 2026 at 3:30 PM ET

Venue: Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium — Annapolis, MD

Navy will beat Temple, projected at Navy 24, Temple 20, with Jackson Gutierrez’s four consecutive 100-yard rushing games providing the strongest reason to favor the Midshipmen. Navy’s second-half collapse against Notre Dame makes this a low-confidence forecast, however. Neither Navy -7.5 (-107) nor the 53.5 total offers a sufficiently convincing edge. The official SportsJaw wager is Pass.

Temple Owls vs Navy Midshipmen prediction and best bet

Navy gets the nod because Gutierrez brings a sustained individual contribution into a matchup between two 2-6 teams. His 110 rushing yards against Notre Dame extended a four-game streak of reaching the century mark. Temple, meanwhile, scored nine points and threw three interceptions in its loss at East Carolina.

The distinction is between picking Navy to win and trusting it to separate. The Midshipmen managed only 56 yards after halftime against Notre Dame, a warning against treating their rushing production as a guarantee of consistent scoring. Expect a closer finish than the supplied spread suggests, but keep the official wager at Pass. Neither side has a compelling enough case at its price.

Temple Owls outlook

Temple’s 17-9 loss at East Carolina combined modest offensive production with costly ball-security problems. The Owls finished with 249 total yards, split between 121 rushing and 128 passing, and threw three interceptions. Avoiding another turnover-heavy afternoon is central to their chances of turning this road game into a competitive fourth quarter.

Ajani Sheppard supplied production in both phases. He completed 11 of 20 passes for 118 yards and ran 15 times for 69 yards. His rushing contribution gives Temple another route to moving the ball, although those numbers alone say little about how effectively the Owls will handle Navy’s defense. Temple needs its passing possessions to contribute more reliably than they did against East Carolina.

There are also personnel concerns. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that tight end Peter Clarke was carted off with an apparent left-leg injury. Coach K.C. Keeler said his season could be over, leaving his outlook uncertain rather than confirming a season-ending absence.

The same report said defensive lineman Kevin Hornbeak Jr. was serving a two-game suspension and was expected to miss the Navy game after sitting out against East Carolina. His expected absence matters when assessing Temple’s options against a quarterback coming off 28 rushing attempts.

Navy Midshipmen outlook

Navy’s 35-13 neutral-site loss to Notre Dame offered reasons both to favor the Midshipmen here and to temper that preference. Navy led 13-7 at halftime before losing control of the game. Its first-half work shows a route to building a lead; its finish is the strongest warning against projecting a comfortable victory.

Gutierrez carried 28 times for 110 yards and a touchdown. Navy collectively rushed for 212 yards on 48 attempts, accounting for most of its 245 total yards. The quarterback’s fourth consecutive 100-yard rushing game is more persuasive than a single productive outing, and it makes him the central figure in this forecast.

The passing contribution was only 33 yards. If Temple slows the rushing attack, that recent performance offers limited reassurance that Navy can compensate through the air. It remains a concern rather than proof that Temple will force the same imbalance.

Navy held possession for 32:40, including 23:33 before halftime, yet finished with just 56 second-half yards. Possession helped build the early advantage without preserving it. Against Temple, the key is converting sustained drives into enough points to withstand a response, rather than relying on time with the ball as a substitute for scoring.

Key matchup factors

The matchup turns on whether Navy can sustain its ground production and whether Temple can finish possessions without interceptions. Gutierrez’s recent rushing streak gives Navy the clearer recurring individual strength. Hornbeak’s expected absence adds a personnel concern for Temple, although the size of that impact remains uncertain.

There is a meaningful distinction between the opponents in those latest games, too. Temple’s output against East Carolina and Navy’s output against Notre Dame are separate snapshots, not a direct measure of how these teams compare. Navy’s halftime lead supports its upside, while the subsequent offensive collapse keeps the overall edge modest. The forecast favors Navy without assuming Temple will repeat its three-interception performance.

Temple Owls vs Navy Midshipmen spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Navy -7.5 (-107) and Temple +7.5 (-109). The projected four-point Navy win falls on Temple’s side of the spread, but that margin is too uncertain to make the Owls an official selection.

Navy’s uneven production makes laying more than a touchdown uncomfortable. Temple’s recent interceptions and personnel concerns also make taking the points less attractive than the projected score might imply. A cleaner Temple performance could produce a close finish; another succession of lost possessions could widen the gap quickly. Neither outcome deserves enough weight for a spread wager.

Temple Owls vs Navy Midshipmen total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 53.5 (-110) and Under 53.5 (-110). The projected 44 points lean toward the Under, with Temple’s nine-point outing and Navy’s limited second-half production supplying reasons for restraint on scoring.

Navy’s rushing volume also suggests a possible possession-heavy game, but one week’s results cannot reliably set the scoring expectation for this matchup. Turnovers could shorten scoring drives, and Navy’s first-half lead against Notre Dame shows that its offense can produce despite a low passing total. The Under is the directional lean, not an actionable recommendation.

Temple Owls vs Navy Midshipmen Projected Score & Betting Picks

Projected score: Navy 24, Temple 20. Gutierrez’s sustained rushing output gives the Midshipmen the best reason to expect a win, while Temple must improve on an offensive performance marked by three interceptions. Navy gets the forecast without being credited with a defensive advantage that these recent results cannot quantify.

The strongest counterargument is Navy’s inability to sustain its own offense after halftime against Notre Dame. Temple has a plausible route to a close game if Sheppard contributes on the ground and the Owls protect possessions. Confidence is low. The official SportsJaw wager is Pass, with both the supplied spread and total left alone despite a narrow Navy victory being the preferred outcome.
