New Mexico Lobos vs Nevada Wolfpack Prediction, Odds and Best Bet for Nov. 6, 2026

Game time: November 6, 2026 at 9:00 PM ET

Venue: Mackay Stadium — Reno, NV

Article updated Nov 3, 1:09 PM EST

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

New Mexico will beat Nevada 24-16 in our forecast for Nov. 6, with its rushing offense offering the clearest matchup advantage against the Wolfpack’s run defense. The Lobos also bring the nation’s leading scoring defense, but their passing mistakes and injury questions complicate the margin. Neither the supplied spread nor total offers a strong enough edge for an actionable wager: SportsJaw’s official recommendation is Pass.

New Mexico Lobos vs Nevada Wolfpack prediction and best bet

New Mexico is the pick to win at Nevada, with medium confidence in the game forecast. The Associated Press reports that the Lobos average 213.1 rushing yards per game, ranking 14th in FBS, against a Nevada defense allowing 162 per game, ranking 98th. That gives New Mexico a promising route to offense without depending entirely on its unsettled passing game.

The best betting decision is Pass. New Mexico -9.5 (-115) asks for a wider victory than our eight-point projection, while Nevada +9.5 (-105) leaves only a small cushion against that forecast. The total of 38.5 also sits close enough to our expected scoring that neither direction earns an official wager.

SportsJaw odds: New Mexico Lobos -9.5 (-115); Nevada Wolfpack +9.5 (-105). Moneyline: New Mexico Lobos -390; Nevada Wolfpack +310. Total: Over 38.5 (-110); Under 38.5 (-108).

New Mexico Lobos outlook

New Mexico’s defense supplies the strongest reason to trust the outright pick. AP lists the Lobos first in FBS at 11.9 points allowed per game and 18th against the pass at 176.5 yards allowed. Those figures favor New Mexico against a Nevada offense with limited passing production.

Scottre Humphrey gives the offense a productive rushing option, with 540 yards on 111 carries and 11 touchdowns. The concern is what happens when New Mexico needs its passing game. Fa'avae has 891 passing yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions, including three interceptions in the Oct. 31 victory over San José State, 21-16.

The Journal reports that coach Jason Eck plans to simplify the passing game. Center Kaden Robnett left that win with an undisclosed injury; Malik Aliane would fill in if Robnett cannot play. Receiver Massiah Mingo’s status was unclear because of an ankle injury in the Nov. 2 report. Neither player should be treated as a confirmed absence.

Nevada Wolfpack outlook

Nevada’s offensive challenge starts with a passing attack averaging 169 yards per game, 127th in FBS, according to AP. The Wolfpack average 23 points overall and lost 27-0 at UCLA on Oct. 31. The Journal also reports injuries to multiple quarterbacks, adding uncertainty to their offensive outlook.

Dominic Kelley offers a rushing option with 588 yards on 118 carries and five touchdowns. Carter Jones has 654 passing yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, although those season totals alone should not be read as confirmation that he will start Friday.

Defensively, the Journal credits Dylan LaBarbera with 59 tackles and 4.5 sacks and EJ Smith with 85 tackles. Their production gives Nevada players to watch when New Mexico faces passing downs. Still, individual tackle totals are not enough to assume the Wolfpack can consistently stop the Lobos’ running game.

Key matchup factors

Turnovers create the biggest potential swing in the margin. AP lists New Mexico at plus-17, first nationally, and Nevada at minus-13, 138th. Those season results favor the Lobos, but Fa'avae’s latest outing shows why another favorable turnover result cannot simply be penciled in.

The Journal reports that New Mexico won last season’s meeting 24-22 on Oct. 18, 2025, and has never won at Nevada in the series. That is relevant background, though the current rushing and defensive matchups deserve more weight in this forecast than the venue’s historical results.

Dimers projects New Mexico to win 24-16 and assigns the Lobos a 76.1% win probability. That is another analyst’s model estimate, separate from SportsJaw’s confidence assessment. Its outright preference agrees with ours, but agreement between forecasts is not an additional statistical advantage.

New Mexico Lobos vs Nevada Wolfpack spread prediction

Pass on New Mexico -9.5 (-115) and Nevada +9.5 (-105). Our projected margin points toward Nevada covering, but the cushion is only 1.5 points. New Mexico’s rushing advantage and the teams’ contrasting turnover margins make that too fragile to recommend.

As of Nov. 3 at 17:59 UTC, the blended consensus favors Nevada +9.5 (-105) at 58%, matching the external consensus percentage. Support shifted three percentage points toward New Mexico from the previous day. These percentages describe selection preference, not cover probability or a standalone SportsJaw member vote.

Dimers separately gives Nevada +9.5 a 52.6% cover probability. Its narrow preference supports considering the underdog, but it does not justify treating the spread as a clear opportunity.

New Mexico Lobos vs Nevada Wolfpack total prediction

Pass on Over 38.5 (-110) and Under 38.5 (-108). New Mexico’s scoring defense and Nevada’s passing limitations make the Under plausible. The counterweight is the Lobos’ rushing matchup, along with the possibility that turnovers create short scoring drives rather than suppress points.

The blended and external consensus both favor Under 38.5 (-108) at 64%, although Over support increased six percentage points from the previous day. Dimers’ 24-16 projection totals 40 points, placing its score forecast above the line despite that Under preference. Our forecast also totals 40, but a 1.5-point difference is too small to make Over an official wager.

New Mexico Lobos vs Nevada Wolfpack Projected Score & Betting Picks

Game forecast: New Mexico Lobos 24, Nevada Wolfpack 16. The Lobos’ rushing production and scoring defense drive the pick. Their recent interceptions and unresolved offensive injuries are the strongest counterarguments to a comfortable victory.

Confidence is medium in the projected winner. The forecast allows for Nevada to stay within the spread, but neither that margin nor the projected total offers a convincing betting cushion. Both markets are a Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting recommendation is Pass.
