Bowling Green Falcons vs Western Michigan Broncos Predictions October 31, 2026

Game time: October 31, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET

Venue: Waldo Stadium — Kalamazoo, MI

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Western Michigan will beat Bowling Green 27-17 in our forecast, with its rushing attack facing a Falcons defense allowing 214.8 rushing yards per game. That is the strongest matchup advantage, but Bowling Green’s recent passing accuracy and defensive playmaking complicate the margin. Neither Western Michigan -13.5 (-111) nor the 44.5 total offers a convincing betting edge. The official recommendation is Pass.

Bowling Green Falcons vs Western Michigan Broncos prediction and best bet

Western Michigan has the more dependable route to victory: attack Bowling Green on the ground and make the Falcons match its scoring. The Broncos average 26.6 points per game against Bowling Green’s 18.8, and their defense allows 20.4. Those season numbers favor the home team, particularly with Jalen Buckley leading the rushing attack.

Winning and covering require different judgments here. Bowling Green has enough passing efficiency and defensive disruption to challenge a 13.5-point spread. The projected 44 combined points also sit too close to 44.5 to justify an Under wager simply from the score forecast. Western Michigan is the pick to win; Pass is the strongest betting decision.

Bowling Green Falcons outlook

Jay Kastantin gives Bowling Green a credible way to compete despite its record. He has completed 67.0% of his passes for 1,418 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. His accuracy has improved recently, with a completion rate above 70% in each of his past three games. Against Buffalo, he threw a season-high three touchdown passes.

The Falcons involved nine targeted receivers and six rushers against Buffalo, with Kastantin leading the team with 14 carries. Nakai Amachree contributed seven carries for 32 yards and three receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown. That variety offers options, although Bowling Green’s 18.8-point scoring average cautions against treating recent accuracy as a guarantee of sustained production. RotoWire reports that Trent Taylor was ruled out for the season on October 17.

Defensively, Bowling Green allows 168.4 passing yards per game, which its official preview ranks first in the MAC. Myles Bradley has eight sacks through eight games. The Falcons have also forced a fumble in three consecutive games and recovered six this season. Those are meaningful threats to Western Michigan’s possessions. The concern is whether those disruptive plays can offset a defense allowing 214.8 rushing yards and 29.8 points per game.

Western Michigan Broncos outlook

Buckley is the central figure in Western Michigan’s favorable rushing matchup. He has gained 634 yards on 120 carries and scored eight rushing touchdowns. In the October 24 loss to Toledo, he produced 92 yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts. His production gives the Broncos a practical starting point against Bowling Green’s vulnerable run defense.

Western Michigan averages 162.1 rushing yards per game. Successful early-down runs could reduce the burden on Broc Lowry and limit his exposure to Bradley’s pass rush. That is a matchup-based expectation, however, rather than a promise that the Broncos will control possession or avoid turnovers.

Lowry’s season line includes 1,251 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, three interceptions and a 63.6% completion rate. At Toledo, he completed 12 of 29 throws for 207 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, while adding a rushing touchdown. That uneven outing is a reason to temper expectations for a comfortable victory.

The receivers still supplied production: Aveion Chenault caught six passes for 105 yards and a touchdown, while Baylin Brooks added three catches for 57 yards and a score. On defense, Western Michigan’s 20.4 points allowed per game and No. 35 FBS scoring-defense ranking support the forecast of a modest Bowling Green total.

Key matchup factors

The interaction between Western Michigan’s rushing attack and Bowling Green’s pass defense matters more than either unit in isolation. The Broncos have an incentive to lean on Buckley rather than repeatedly challenge a defense with strong passing-yardage numbers and an accomplished pass rusher. If that approach works, Lowry can be selective.

Turnovers are the clearest threat to that plan. Bowling Green’s recent forced fumbles and Lowry’s two interceptions at Toledo suggest a plausible route to extra Falcons opportunities, though neither guarantees another takeaway.

Series history also argues against dismissing the visitor. Bowling Green has won the past three meetings since 2022, including 34-10 in Kalamazoo in 2023. That history merits perspective, not priority over this season’s matchup.

Bowling Green Falcons vs Western Michigan Broncos spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Bowling Green +13.5 (-108) and Western Michigan -13.5 (-111). Our 10-point projected margin favors the Falcons relative to the number, but the case for buying those points remains fragile.

Kastantin’s recent accuracy and Bowling Green’s defensive playmakers could keep the game close. Conversely, the Falcons’ rushing defense presents a route to a larger Broncos win if Buckley repeatedly finishes drives. Western Michigan needs to win by at least 14 to cover. Its advantages justify selecting the winner, but the likely margin is less secure. Neither spread side earns an official wager.

Bowling Green Falcons vs Western Michigan Broncos total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 44.5 (-109) and Under 44.5 (-111). The projected 44 points are only half a point below the line, an insufficient cushion for an Under selection by themselves.

Bowling Green’s scoring average and Western Michigan’s scoring defense suggest restraint. The opposite pressure comes from the Falcons’ 29.8 points allowed per game, Buckley’s touchdown production and Kastantin’s recent passing improvement. A rushing emphasis might consume clock, but successful rushing can also produce touchdowns. The competing scoring paths leave no compelling value on either side of 44.5.

Bowling Green Falcons vs Western Michigan Broncos projected score

Game forecast: Western Michigan 27, Bowling Green 17. The Broncos’ rushing matchup and stronger season scoring profile make them the selection to win. Buckley offers the most direct way to exploit Bowling Green’s defensive weakness, while Western Michigan’s scoring defense supports keeping the Falcons below their opponent’s output.

The strongest counterargument combines Kastantin’s recent efficiency with Bowling Green’s ability to disrupt possessions. If those strengths produce sustained drives and short fields, the Falcons could push beyond this projection. Lowry’s uneven Toledo performance adds uncertainty. Confidence in the forecast is low, and the projected margin and total are too sensitive to those swings to justify a wager. The single official SportsJaw recommendation is Pass.
