Western Michigan Broncos vs Toledo Rockets Predictions October 24, 2026

Game time: October 24, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET

Venue: Glass Bowl — Toledo, OH

Article updated Oct 18, 11:41 PM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Toledo is projected to beat Western Michigan 24-20, with its recent run defense and balanced offensive production giving the Rockets a slight edge. Buckley's rushing success makes the Broncos a credible upset threat, however. Toledo -3.5 (-110) leaves too little room for a narrow home win, so the official betting recommendation is Pass, with no actionable total wager either.

Western Michigan Broncos vs Toledo Rockets prediction and best bet

Toledo gets the winner pick because its latest performance offered encouraging signs on both sides of the ball. The Rockets combined efficient passing, a productive rushing effort and disruptive defense against Eastern Michigan. Those ingredients give them a plausible answer to Western Michigan's strongest recent weapon, running back Jalen Buckley.

The official betting recommendation is Pass. A projected four-point victory barely clears Toledo -3.5 (-110), and the comparison rests heavily on one game against a different opponent for each team. That is enough for a slight preference in the forecast, but too thin an advantage to make laying the points attractive.

Western Michigan Broncos outlook

Western Michigan beat Central Michigan 21-14 on Oct. 17 after taking a 21-0 lead through three quarters. Buckley rushed for 150 yards and scored on runs of nine and seven yards. His production supplies the clearest reason to expect the Broncos to challenge Toledo rather than simply accept the underdog role.

The AP reported that Broc Lowry completed five of eight passes for 48 yards. That was a small passing workload in a victory, not proof that Western Michigan cannot throw effectively. Still, the Broncos would face a different test if they needed sustained passing production while chasing a lead.

Central Michigan's late rally is also relevant. Western Michigan built a substantial cushion but finished with a seven-point win. The result supports respect for the Broncos' ability to take control, while leaving room for caution about projecting comfortable command throughout this matchup.

Toledo Rockets outlook

Toledo defeated Eastern Michigan 34-14 on Oct. 17. John Alan Richter completed 24 of 30 passes for 288 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Autavius Ison added 104 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, recording his first 100-yard rushing game of the season.

That combination is the offensive reason to favor Toledo slightly. If either the passing game or running game stalls, the other showed recent production that could help sustain possessions. It remains a projection against Western Michigan, rather than a guarantee that last week's efficiency will carry over.

The defensive performance was equally notable: Toledo allowed 235 total yards, including 34 rushing yards on 28 attempts, and recorded six sacks and 16 quarterback hurries. Andrew Zock contributed nine tackles, two sacks, nine hurries and a forced fumble.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether Toledo can force Western Michigan away from the ground game. Buckley's success could keep the Broncos in manageable situations and reduce the need for obvious passing downs. If Toledo contains him early, its pass rush becomes a more relevant part of the forecast.

The competing performances deserve equal consideration. Stopping Eastern Michigan does not mean Toledo will stop Buckley, just as Buckley's success against Central Michigan does not promise another big afternoon. The slight Toledo edge comes from its recent production across more offensive areas, with the defensive matchup offering potential rather than certainty.

Western Michigan Broncos vs Toledo Rockets spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Toledo -3.5 (-110) and Western Michigan +3.5 (-110). Toledo's projected victory makes the favorite tempting, but winning by a field goal would still lose the spread bet. The four-point forecast offers little protection against that outcome.

Western Michigan's rushing threat is a reason to question laying the points, not an automatic reason to take them. Neither side has a sufficiently convincing advantage at this price. The winner selection remains Toledo; the spread stays a Pass.

Western Michigan Broncos vs Toledo Rockets total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 45.5 (-110) and Under 45.5 (-110). The projected 44 points fall below the line, but the 1.5-point difference is too small to turn this forecast into an Under wager.

Toledo's defensive showing points toward fewer Western Michigan scoring opportunities. Richter's passing production and Buckley's rushing performance offer the competing possibility of effective offense. With those signals pulling in different directions, neither total selection earns an official recommendation.

Western Michigan Broncos vs Toledo Rockets projected score

Projected score: Toledo Rockets 24, Western Michigan Broncos 20. Toledo's recent offensive balance gives it the slight advantage, while Buckley's ability to drive the Broncos' offense is the strongest counterargument.

Confidence is low because the matchup comparison relies on limited recent evidence against different opponents. Toledo is the forecast winner, but neither the spread nor total offers a demonstrated betting edge. The single official SportsJaw betting recommendation is Pass.
