West Virginia Mountaineers vs TCU Horned Frogs Predictions October 24, 2026

Game time: October 24, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET

Venue: Amon G. Carter Stadium — Fort Worth, TX

Article updated Oct 19, 11:44 PM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

TCU is projected to beat West Virginia 30-24 on October 24, with its recent defensive disruption providing the strongest reason to favor the Horned Frogs. West Virginia’s passing performance against Cincinnati is the main threat to that forecast. Neither TCU -8.5 (-110) nor the 56.5 total offers a convincing betting edge from these contrasting recent results, making the official wager Pass.

West Virginia Mountaineers vs TCU Horned Frogs prediction and best bet

TCU is the pick to win this 2026 college football matchup. Its defense supplied a useful combination against Baylor: pressure on the quarterback and stops that kept the Bears out of the end zone. That performance gives the Horned Frogs a plausible route to slowing West Virginia without needing to match its latest scoring output.

The best betting decision is Pass. One strong defensive game is a thin foundation for backing TCU to win by nine or more, particularly against a quarterback coming off a career day. The total presents a similarly close judgment between sharply different recent performances.

Odds, game time and how to watch

Game date: Saturday, October 24, 2026. West Virginia Mountaineers at TCU Horned Frogs.

Records: West Virginia Mountaineers 3-3; TCU Horned Frogs 2-3.

SportsJaw odds: West Virginia Mountaineers +8.5 (-110); TCU Horned Frogs -8.5 (-110). Moneyline: West Virginia Mountaineers +260; TCU Horned Frogs -320. Total: Over 56.5 (-110); Under 56.5 (-110).

Consensus: As of October 20 at 03:27 UTC, the combined consensus favored TCU -320 at 62 percent and Over 56.5 (-108) at 70 percent. The Over share increased 37 percentage points from the October 18 snapshot. These are consensus shares, not projected outcome probabilities.

West Virginia Mountaineers outlook

West Virginia beat Cincinnati 45-42 on October 17 behind Michael Hawkins Jr., who completed 25 of 33 passes for a career-high 464 yards and three touchdowns. DJ Epps caught eight passes for 163 yards and a touchdown, giving the Mountaineers a productive receiving connection to carry into this matchup.

The rushing picture was less encouraging. West Virginia entered that game averaging 295.5 rushing yards, but Cam Cook managed 40 yards on 15 carries. The passing attack supplied an answer when its leading ground option struggled; repeating that response against TCU is central to the upset case.

Defensively, West Virginia surrendered 622 yards, 28 first downs and 9.0 yards per play. Jack Cassidy’s 35-yard field goal on the final play secured the win, but the narrow escape illustrates how much pressure those defensive struggles placed on the offense.

TCU Horned Frogs outlook

TCU beat Baylor 17-6 in Waco on October 17 and allowed no touchdown. Its second-half defense produced one turnover, two turnovers on downs and three punts while holding Baylor scoreless. Those possession-ending stops are the strongest recent evidence behind the TCU forecast.

Koron Hayward recorded three of the Horned Frogs’ four sacks, and Jamel Johnson intercepted a pass. Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway completed 22 of 53 attempts, or 41.5 percent. That was an effective defensive outing, although it offers no guarantee of similar results against Hawkins.

Jaden Craig completed 21 of 36 passes for 294 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Dwyer contributed six catches for 150 yards, while Ed Small had seven catches for 91 yards and a touchdown. Their production gives TCU an offensive case beyond simply asking its defense to control the game.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether TCU can interrupt West Virginia’s passing rhythm. Pressure that produces stalled possessions would favor the Horned Frogs; Hawkins finding Epps consistently would challenge the defensive advantage behind this prediction.

At the other end, Craig has an opportunity against a defense that struggled badly against Cincinnati. The caution is that TCU’s receiving production at Baylor yielded only 17 points. Yardage alone will not deliver the separation needed to cover this spread.

Consensus favors TCU to win and the game to go Over. Neither share measures how often those bets should cash at these prices, and the Over’s increased backing is not evidence of a change in the posted total.

West Virginia Mountaineers vs TCU Horned Frogs spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on West Virginia +8.5 (-110) and TCU -8.5 (-110). The projected six-point margin falls inside West Virginia’s number, but that small cushion rests on a fragile estimate.

West Virginia’s passing performance makes taking the points tempting. Its defensive performance creates the opposite risk: TCU could pull away if Craig turns sustained production into touchdowns. Neither side has a sufficiently clear advantage at the supplied spread.

West Virginia Mountaineers vs TCU Horned Frogs total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 56.5 (-108) and Under 56.5 (-110). The projected 54 points sit below the line, but the modest difference is too sensitive to a single scoring possession to justify an Under wager.

West Virginia’s latest game produced 87 combined points; TCU’s produced 23. Those contrasting outcomes outline the uncertainty rather than settle it. Hawkins’ production and West Virginia’s defensive vulnerability strengthen the Over case, while TCU’s recent stops strengthen the Under case.

West Virginia Mountaineers vs TCU Horned Frogs projected score

Game forecast: TCU Horned Frogs 30, West Virginia Mountaineers 24. TCU gets the nod because its recent defensive disruption offers a way to limit Hawkins while Craig attacks a vulnerable defense.

The strongest counterargument is West Virginia’s demonstrated passing upside. Confidence is low because the forecast depends heavily on each team’s October 17 performance against a different opponent. Both market recommendations remain Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
