Baylor Bears vs Kansas Jayhawks Predictions October 24, 2026

Game time: October 24, 2026 at 1:00 PM ET

Venue: David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium — Lawrence, KS

Article updated Oct 19, 11:50 PM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Baylor will beat Kansas 24-20, with its rushing defense providing the strongest matchup advantage against Isaiah Marshall and Dylan Edwards. The Bears’ offensive line problems make the projected margin fragile, however. Baylor -3 (-106) offers too little cushion for an official wager, and the total of 53.5 is also a pass. The game forecast carries low confidence.

Baylor Bears vs Kansas Jayhawks prediction and best bet

Baylor is the pick to win because its defensive performance offers the strongest reason to trust either team. The Bears held each of their first six opponents to 20 points or fewer, and Kansas faces a particularly difficult test on the ground.

The official betting recommendation is Pass. A projected four-point win leaves Baylor barely beyond the three-point spread, while its blocking problems introduce a meaningful risk to that margin. Picking the Bears to win is a stronger position than paying to back them to cover.

Odds, game time and how to watch

Date and venue: Saturday, October 24, 2026, at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kansas. This college football matchup is Kansas’ 114th Homecoming game.

Broadcast: Baylor Athletics lists TNT, truTV and HBO Max.

Records: Baylor Bears 3-2; Kansas Jayhawks 2-4.

SportsJaw spread and moneyline: Baylor -3 (-106) and Kansas +3 (-114); Baylor -145 and Kansas +125 on the moneyline.

SportsJaw total: Over 53.5 (-109) or Under 53.5 (-110).

Baylor Bears outlook

Baylor has won four of its past five games, but the October 17 loss to TCU exposed its clearest weakness. The Bears surrendered four sacks and rushed for a season-low 54 yards at 1.6 yards per carry. Four penalties on their final drive compounded the offensive problems. Dave Aranda subsequently identified pass protection and run blocking as priorities.

DJ Lagway’s passing production gives Baylor a route to points while that line seeks improvement. Through October 17, he averaged 279 passing yards per game with eight touchdown passes and three interceptions. Gavin Freeman had 49 receptions for 555 yards and two touchdowns.

The defense supplies the more convincing foundation. Baylor allowed 14.7 points and 86.7 rushing yards per game through October 17. Its October 19 preview listed the Bears ninth nationally in scoring defense and rushing defense, fourth in sacks per game and fifth in tackles for loss per game. Those rankings favor a forecast built around defensive stops rather than a sudden offensive surge.

Kansas Jayhawks outlook

Isaiah Marshall gives Kansas a threat through the air and on the ground. Through October 17, he had 1,294 passing yards, nine touchdown passes and 372 rushing yards. His 117 rushing yards against Kansas State that day illustrate why Baylor must account for the quarterback as a runner.

Dylan Edwards had 375 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns, along with 155 receiving yards and another score. Nik McMillan led Kansas with 23 catches, 400 receiving yards and four touchdown receptions. That distribution gives the Jayhawks several players to feature, though their individual production alone is no assurance of success against Baylor.

Kansas has been more successful at home than its overall record suggests, going 2-1 in Lawrence. The Jayhawks have also won four consecutive Homecoming games. Those results strengthen the case for a competitive afternoon, but the current offensive personnel matter more to this forecast than the occasion.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether Kansas can preserve its rushing options against Baylor’s front. Aranda specifically highlighted the different looks in the Jayhawks’ run game and Edwards’ threat. If Baylor forces Kansas into longer passing situations, its sack production suggests a potential advantage. Marshall’s mobility is the strongest reason that sequence may be harder to achieve than the defensive rankings imply.

At the other end, Baylor needs enough protection to make its passing production count. The TCU performance makes offensive improvement a condition of a comfortable Bears victory, not something to assume. Kansas keeping this close would not require Baylor’s defense to collapse.

As of October 20 at 03:42 UTC, the SportsJaw blended spread consensus favored Kansas +3 (-114) at 67 percent. That figure represents betting selections, not Kansas’ chance of winning or a separate SportsJaw member majority. The moneyline consensus was evenly divided at 50 percent, despite Baylor being displayed as its leader.

Baylor Bears vs Kansas Jayhawks spread prediction

Pass on Baylor -3 (-106) and Kansas +3 (-114). Baylor’s defensive edge supports the projected victory, but a 24-20 forecast leaves only one point beyond the spread. The offensive line’s recent struggles make that a narrow margin to trust.

Kansas getting three points has appeal given its home record and the consensus preference. Still, backing the Jayhawks would require more conviction that their offense can overcome this defensive matchup. Neither side earns an actionable spread recommendation at the supplied price.

Baylor Bears vs Kansas Jayhawks total prediction

Pass on the total of 53.5, with Over priced at -109 and Under at -110. The projected 44 points favor an Under game script, primarily because Baylor has consistently limited opposing scoring.

The uncertainty is how much Baylor contributes. Its passing production and recent blocking failures point toward different offensive outcomes, and there is no Kansas defensive profile here to sharpen that estimate. The projected score expresses the expected script; it is not enough on its own to make Under 53.5 (-110) an official wager.

Baylor Bears vs Kansas Jayhawks projected score

Game forecast: Baylor Bears 24, Kansas Jayhawks 20. Baylor’s defense earns the deciding vote, with Lagway and Freeman providing a plausible route to the points needed to win.

The strongest counterargument is that Baylor’s protection and rushing problems persist while Marshall creates enough offense to turn a close game toward Kansas. Confidence is low because the forecast depends on a modest offensive recovery. Both market recommendations remain passes, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
