Colorado Buffaloes vs Oklahoma St. Cowboys Predictions October 24, 2026

Game time: October 24, 2026 at 12:00 AM ET

Venue: Boone Pickens Stadium — Stillwater, OK

Article updated Oct 18, 8:10 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Oklahoma State will beat Colorado, with a projected score of Oklahoma State 31, Colorado 24. Drew Mestemaker’s five consecutive 300-yard passing games give the Cowboys the strongest sustained offensive evidence entering this matchup. Colorado’s competitive performance against Utah makes the large spread less appealing, but neither Colorado +14.5 (-122) nor the 54.5 total offers a convincing wager. The official recommendation is Pass.

Colorado Buffaloes vs Oklahoma St. Cowboys prediction and best bet

Oklahoma State is the pick to win this October 24 college football matchup. Mestemaker’s production across five games gives the Cowboys a stronger foundation for the forecast than a single encouraging performance. Returning to Boone Pickens Stadium also puts their next opportunity at home after a narrow road defeat.

The best betting decision is Pass. Colorado showed enough offense against Utah to make taking 14.5 points tempting, but one close loss is a thin foundation for a wager carrying a -122 price. Oklahoma State’s uneven performance at Houston also makes its -14.5 (+100) difficult to endorse. The projected seven-point margin is a low-confidence forecast, not a measured betting edge.

Colorado Buffaloes outlook

Colorado lost 27-24 to Utah at Folsom Field on October 17. Isaac Wilson passed for 256 yards, and the Buffaloes finished with 394 total yards. That performance offers a reason to expect offensive resistance here despite Colorado’s winless conference record.

JaQuail Smith scored on a 68-yard reception, while DeKalon Taylor contributed an 18-yard rushing touchdown. Those plays illustrate two routes to points, although neither guarantees Colorado can sustain drives against a different opponent. The Buffaloes converted four of 10 third downs against Utah.

Penalties were a more obvious concern: Colorado committed 10 for 93 yards. Cleaning up those mistakes would help preserve the value of its offensive gains. On defense, Gideon Lampron recorded 11 tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack. His disruptive plays offer an individual bright spot without settling how the entire defense will handle Oklahoma State’s passing game.

Oklahoma St. Cowboys outlook

Oklahoma State fell 35-32 at Houston on October 17. Mestemaker completed 22 of 34 passes for 365 yards and three touchdowns, extending his run of games with at least 300 passing yards to five. That sustained production is the clearest reason to favor the Cowboys.

Caleb Hawkins contributed 68 rushing yards and a career-high 125 receiving yards, including a receiving touchdown. His involvement as both a runner and receiver gives Colorado more to account for than downfield throws alone.

The Cowboys’ scoring came unevenly. They trailed 14-3 at halftime before scoring 29 second-half points, with touchdowns on four of five possessions after the break. That rally showed their capacity to respond, but the slow start matters when evaluating a large spread. Oklahoma State also lost the turnover battle 2-1 and committed a season-high nine penalties.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether Colorado can interrupt Oklahoma State’s passing rhythm often enough to keep the score close. Mestemaker’s recent run supports expecting production; it does not specify how quickly the Cowboys will score or how many possessions they will need.

Discipline matters for both teams after penalty-heavy losses. Another uneven game could keep Colorado within reach, while mistakes by the Buffaloes could erase promising possessions. There is no reliable reason to assume those errors will favor only one side.

The latest results also came against different opponents. Comparing the two three-point losses helps describe recent form, but treating them as equivalent tests would overstate what those scores tell us about this matchup.

Colorado Buffaloes vs Oklahoma St. Cowboys spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Colorado +14.5 (-122) and Oklahoma State -14.5 (+100). The forecast falls on Colorado’s side of the number, but confidence in that margin is too limited to justify the price.

Colorado’s offensive response against Utah is encouraging. Oklahoma State’s sustained passing production is the strongest counterargument: a cleaner performance could produce a wider margin. With those competing possibilities, neither side earns an official spread recommendation.

Colorado Buffaloes vs Oklahoma St. Cowboys total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 54.5 (-115) and Under 54.5 (-105). Both offenses supplied reasons for optimism last week, but those performances offer only a narrow view of the scoring matchup.

The projected 55 points sit just half a point above the total. That small difference is not enough to recommend paying -115 for the Over. Oklahoma State’s slow first half at Houston also cautions against assuming its late scoring surge will carry through an entire game.

Colorado Buffaloes vs Oklahoma St. Cowboys projected score

Game forecast: Oklahoma State 31, Colorado 24. Mestemaker’s sustained passing output earns the Cowboys the winner selection. Colorado’s recent offensive production is the strongest counterargument to a comfortable Oklahoma State victory.

Confidence is low because the evidence gives a clearer direction than a dependable margin. Both market recommendations remain Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
