Iowa St. Cyclones vs Arizona Wildcats Predictions October 24, 2026

Game time: October 24, 2026 at 12:00 AM ET

Venue: Arizona Stadium — Tucson, AZ

Article updated Oct 17, 11:47 PM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Arizona is the projected winner over Iowa State, 27-20, led by Noah Fifita and an offense that topped the Big 12 in passing yards per game through six games. Receiver injuries make the margin less certain than the winner. Neither Arizona -9.5 (-122) nor the 49.5 total offers a convincing wager here, so the official betting recommendation is Pass.

Iowa St. Cyclones vs Arizona Wildcats prediction and best bet

Arizona gets the pick for this October 24 college football matchup because its passing production offers the strongest reason to favor either team. Fifita’s accuracy and experience in Seth Doege’s offense support a Wildcats win. The forecast is Arizona 27, Iowa State 20, with low confidence.

Best bet: Pass. Arizona’s offensive numbers make it an appealing winner, but laying 9.5 points demands a stronger judgment about the matchup than those numbers alone can carry. With uncertainty around Arizona’s receivers and no comparable scoring or defensive profile for Iowa State, the favorite’s ability to pull away remains the central betting question.

Iowa St. Cyclones outlook

Iowa State’s receiving availability is a concern. Covers’ October 18 injury report lists Dominic Overby as questionable with a knee injury and Carter Pabst as out with a knee injury, with Pabst expected to miss the remainder of the season. Overby’s status matters when considering the Cyclones’ options if they need to chase a lead.

Running back Eli Miller is also questionable with an undisclosed injury, although the same report says he is expected to play against Arizona. That distinction matters: his listing should not be treated as a confirmed absence.

For the Cyclones, sustaining possessions would be a useful way to limit Arizona’s opportunities. That is a potential game plan, not an established Iowa State strength. The injury report alone gives no reason to assume the Cyclones will struggle to run, protect their quarterback or score enough to stay competitive.

Arizona Wildcats outlook

Through six games, Arizona averaged 456.5 total yards and 306.7 passing yards, ranking third and first in the Big 12, respectively. Fifita completed 140 of 191 attempts, a 73.3% rate, for 1,756 yards and 16 touchdowns. Those season totals make the passing game the foundation of the winner selection.

Isaiah Mizell contributed 19 receptions for 359 yards and four touchdowns. Kedrick Reescano supplied 262 rushing yards on 72 carries with four touchdowns. Those contributions give the forecast more substance than a quarterback-only assessment, although they do not measure how Arizona will fare against Iowa State’s defense.

Receiver attrition complicates that picture. Tre Spivey recorded 22 catches for 314 yards and four touchdowns before his season-ending injury. On October 12, Brent Brennan discussed an attack operating without Spivey, Giovanni Richardson and Chris Hunter. Covers subsequently listed Richardson as questionable for this game; Brennan’s earlier comments should not be read as a final October 24 status for Hunter.

Key matchup factors

Fifita’s decision-making is the most persuasive qualitative factor. Brennan credited his second year with Doege for better command of protection adjustments and quicker recognition of passing options. That supports confidence in Arizona’s ability to function despite personnel changes, without guaranteeing the same production from replacement receivers.

The bye offered preparation and recovery time. Brennan planned practices Tuesday through Thursday, followed by Friday and Saturday off. Rest strengthens the case for a prepared Arizona team, but it should not be converted into an assumed scoring advantage or a promise that questionable players will return.

Iowa St. Cyclones vs Arizona Wildcats spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Arizona -9.5 (-122) and Iowa State +9.5 (+100). The projected seven-point Arizona win falls inside the spread, but a projected margin is not enough by itself to recommend the underdog.

Arizona’s passing results favor the Wildcats outright. Its receiver concerns make a double-digit win harder to trust, while Iowa State’s injury information offers too narrow a view to make +9.5 a confident purchase. Neither side earns an official spread wager.

Iowa St. Cyclones vs Arizona Wildcats total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 49.5 (-106) and Under 49.5 (-116). The 27-20 forecast totals 47 points, creating a modest directional preference toward a lower-scoring outcome.

That preference is fragile. Arizona’s passing production offers a clear route to more points, while receiver absences could interrupt drives. Without a fuller picture of Iowa State’s offense and both defenses, neither total price is compelling.

Iowa St. Cyclones vs Arizona Wildcats projected score

Game forecast: Arizona Wildcats 27, Iowa State Cyclones 20. Arizona’s productive passing offense earns the winner selection; receiver availability is the strongest counterargument to expecting comfortable separation.

Confidence is low because the evidence is much fuller on Arizona’s offense than on the opposing units. The Wildcats are the pick to win, both markets are passes, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
