BYU Cougars vs Central Florida Golden Knights Predictions October 24, 2026

Game time: October 24, 2026 at 12:00 AM ET

Venue: FBC Mortgage Stadium — Orlando, FL

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

BYU will beat Central Florida 27-23, with Bear Bachmeier's passing and rushing production against Notre Dame providing the strongest reason to favor the Cougars. UCF's recent passing success and bye week make a comfortable road victory less certain. Neither BYU -7.5 (-105) nor the 45.5 total offers a compelling wager here, so the official SportsJaw betting recommendation is Pass.

BYU Cougars vs Central Florida Golden Knights prediction and best bet

Pick BYU to win, but pass on the wager. The Cougars' 28-24 victory over No. 2 Notre Dame on Oct. 17 gives them a persuasive recent result. Bachmeier's contribution as both a passer and runner makes him the central reason for the forecast.

Winning at Central Florida and covering 7.5 points are separate calls. UCF has recent offensive production that warrants respect, while BYU running back LJ Martin is expected to miss this matchup. Those considerations favor a closer projection than the supplied spread, without making the Knights an automatic bet.

BYU Cougars outlook

Bachmeier completed 23 of 36 passes for 224 yards and one passing touchdown against Notre Dame, adding two rushing touchdowns. That performance supplies a concrete reason to trust BYU's quarterback when a possession needs more than a conventional passing play.

The receiving contributions were spread across several players. Kyler Kasper and Legend Glasker each finished with 66 receiving yards. Walker Lyons caught five passes for 49 yards, including the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Those results offer encouragement that Bachmeier can find help beyond a single target.

Martin's availability is the concern. UCF Knights on SI reported a lower-body injury sustained against TCU on Oct. 3 and, citing Pete Thamel, an expected absence of at least a month that would include UCF. Preston Rex rushed for 66 yards against Notre Dame, a useful contribution without proving that Martin's absence carries no cost.

Central Florida Golden Knights outlook

UCF's passing game supplies the strongest counterweight to a BYU pick. With Alonza Barnett III sidelined since Week 2 by a hamstring injury, replacement quarterback Keyone Jenkins threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns at Oklahoma State. That performance makes it risky to project the Knights as an offense BYU will easily contain.

Josh Derry's recent involvement strengthens that argument. Through six games, he led UCF with 28 receptions for 304 yards and two touchdowns. Eighteen catches, 185 yards and both touchdowns came against Houston and Oklahoma State, concentrating much of his production in the two games before the bye.

The defensive picture is less encouraging. UCF allowed 21.7 points and 355.2 yards per game through six contests, ranking 10th in Big 12 scoring defense and 14th in yardage defense. Those conference positions raise concerns, although they do not make every BYU possession a likely scoring drive.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether BYU's offensive flexibility produces separation or merely enough points to win. Bachmeier's rushing threat matters with Martin expected out, but projecting a repeat of his touchdown production against Notre Dame would be aggressive.

UCF's bye creates additional preparation time before this Homecoming matchup. That is a scheduling advantage, not a guaranteed improvement. The more tangible challenge for BYU is preventing the Knights' recent passing production from turning a lead into a possession-by-possession contest.

BYU Cougars vs Central Florida Golden Knights spread prediction

Pass on BYU -7.5 (-105) and Central Florida +7.5 (-115). The projected four-point margin favors UCF relative to the spread, but the forecast carries too much uncertainty to make that difference an official wager.

BYU's recent victory supports picking the Cougars outright. It is a less persuasive argument for requiring an eight-point win away from home. Conversely, UCF's defensive rankings make taking the points uncomfortable. Neither side has a sufficiently convincing advantage at its supplied price.

BYU Cougars vs Central Florida Golden Knights total prediction

Pass on Over 45.5 (-110) and Under 45.5 (-110). The projected 50 points lean above the total, but that projection is not a strong enough scoring estimate to justify an Over bet.

Jenkins' recent touchdown output gives UCF a plausible route to contributing to a higher total. Martin's expected absence adds uncertainty to BYU's attack. Without a supported assessment of BYU's defensive performance, confidence in either total direction stays limited.

BYU Cougars vs Central Florida Golden Knights projected score

Game forecast: BYU Cougars 27, Central Florida Golden Knights 23. Bachmeier and the contributions around him give BYU the edge. UCF's recent passing production is the strongest counterargument and the reason to expect a competitive finish.

Confidence is low. BYU is the winner pick, while the margin and scoring outlook remain fragile. The spread recommendation is Pass, the total recommendation is Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
