Fla. International Golden Panthers vs Jacksonville St. Gamecocks Predictions October 13, 2026

Game time: October 13, 2026 at 8:00 PM ET

Venue: AmFirst Stadium — Jacksonville, AL

Article updated Oct 9, 1:17 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Jacksonville State will beat Fla. International 24-20 in our Oct. 13 forecast, with its recent downfield passing production supplying the strongest matchup advantage. FIU’s defensive form makes this a low-confidence pick despite the Gamecocks’ offensive upside. Neither Jacksonville State -2.5 nor the 45.5 total offers a convincing betting edge at the supplied prices. The official SportsJaw wager is Pass.

Fla. International Golden Panthers vs Jacksonville St. Gamecocks prediction and best bet

Jacksonville State gets the pick because its latest offensive performance showed a way to generate scoring opportunities through the air. Against an FIU team coming off consecutive games allowing three points or fewer, the ability to gain substantial yardage on a single completion could be decisive.

That advantage is narrow. The teams produced their recent results against different opponents, so Jacksonville State’s larger passing total is a reason for the forecast, not proof of offensive superiority. FIU’s pressure and takeaways offer a credible route to an upset.

The best bet is Pass. A projected four-point Jacksonville State victory favors the Gamecocks against the spread on paper, but the uncertainty around that margin outweighs the small cushion over -2.5. The total deserves its own assessment rather than automatically following the winner pick.

Fla. International Golden Panthers outlook

FIU beat New Mexico State 22-3 on Oct. 7 to open conference play. It was the Golden Panthers’ second consecutive game without allowing a touchdown and the first time in program history they had allowed three points or fewer in back-to-back games.

The defense created three turnovers. Wesley Miller and Demetrius Hill intercepted passes, and DeeJay Holmes Jr. forced a fumble on a sack that Germaine Carter recovered. Holmes extended his sack streak to five games, while Kenton Simmons reached 4.0 sacks for the season. Those individual pressure contributions are central to FIU’s chances of disrupting Jacksonville State’s passing attack.

Offensively, FIU held possession for 37:54. Devonte Lyons ran for 78 yards at 5.6 yards per carry, while JJ Kohl completed 12 of 21 passes for 115 yards. Repeating that combination of productive rushing and long possessions would help FIU keep the game within reach.

Robert Czeremcha tied the school record with five field goals, including a 52-yarder. That was valuable scoring production, but it also illustrates the question facing this offense: can FIU get enough touchdowns if Jacksonville State creates more scoring pressure than New Mexico State did?

Jacksonville St. Gamecocks outlook

Jacksonville State beat Kennesaw State 27-26 on Oct. 7 after overcoming a nine-point deficit late in the third quarter. Garrison Rippa made field goals from 20 and 33 yards, with the latter arriving with 52 seconds remaining.

Caden Creel threw for 311 yards, and Deondre Johnson caught four passes for 112 yards. Johnson’s receptions included gains of 39, 35 and 22 yards. Jamill Williams added a one-yard touchdown catch, his fifth touchdown reception of the season.

The Gamecocks finished with 385 total yards and 27 first downs, but only 74 rushing yards. That distribution makes protecting the passing game particularly relevant to this forecast. If FIU disrupts Creel, Jacksonville State may need more from its ground attack than it received last time.

There were defensive contributions as well: Caleb Nix recorded his second interception of the season, and Rob Billings IV stopped Kennesaw State’s final drive with his first career interception. The clearest concern was discipline, with a season-high 11 penalties costing 93 yards.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether FIU can pressure Creel before Jacksonville State’s receivers find space downfield. A sack can end a promising possession; a long completion can erase several successful defensive snaps. Both outcomes have support in the teams’ recent performances, which keeps the forecast close.

Jacksonville State’s penalties are another swing factor. Repeated setbacks would make its offense more dependent on difficult passing situations and give FIU opportunities to dictate the game. Cleaner execution would make the Gamecocks’ passing advantage more persuasive.

Both teams played on Oct. 7, so their latest games offer no difference in recovery time before this matchup. Neither team gets an extra-rest advantage in the prediction.

Fla. International Golden Panthers vs Jacksonville St. Gamecocks spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Jacksonville State -2.5 (-113) and Fla. International +2.5 (-111). The 24-20 forecast would cover the Gamecocks’ line, but it clears that requirement by just 1.5 points. That is a fragile margin for a low-confidence prediction.

FIU’s defensive results make a closer finish or outright upset plausible. Jacksonville State’s passing production keeps the Golden Panthers from becoming an attractive automatic underdog pick. The forecast favors the favorite; neither spread price earns an official recommendation.

Fla. International Golden Panthers vs Jacksonville St. Gamecocks total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 45.5 (-116) and Under 45.5 (-106). The projected 44 points give the Under a slight directional lean, with FIU’s recent scoring prevention and possession control supplying the main rationale.

Jacksonville State’s long completions are the strongest counterweight. FIU could defend well for stretches and still surrender enough quick gains to change the scoring picture. With only 1.5 points between the projection and the total, the Under case is too sensitive to a single scoring sequence to justify a wager.

Fla. International Golden Panthers vs Jacksonville St. Gamecocks projected score

Game forecast: Jacksonville State 24, Fla. International 20. The Gamecocks’ recent passing performance narrowly outweighs FIU’s defensive momentum. The strongest counterargument is that FIU’s pressure could prevent those downfield opportunities and leave Jacksonville State searching for another offensive answer.

Confidence is low because the forecast depends on Jacksonville State overcoming the strongest part of FIU’s recent play. Both market recommendations remain Pass, and the single official SportsJaw wager is Pass.
