There are plenty of interesting matchups around the nation on Saturday, December 17, so we are breaking down the non-conference matchup between the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks and Iowa Hawkeyes. As massive underdogs with a total of 152.5 points, the Redhawks travel to Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Iowa meets Southeast Missouri State for the first time since 2008 when the Hawkeyes won 75-41 as 19-point favorites.
Redhawks are in freefall
Following Wednesday's 68-61 loss at Arkansas State as 3-point underdogs, the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks (5-6; 5-4 ATS) are riding a five-game losing streak. In the second half, they blew an 11-point lead, finishing with a 12/16 assist-to-turnover ratio and shooting 38.3% (8-for-23 from deep).
Additionally, the Redhawks missed nine of their 26 attempts from the charity stripe against the Red Wolves. Adam Larson led SEMO with 19 points, Phillip Russell had 13 points and three assists, and Chris Harris added ten points and three assists.
It's time for the Hawkeyes to get back on track
On Sunday, the Iowa Hawkeyes (7-3; 6-4 ATS) suffered a 78-75 overtime loss to Wisconsin after losing 74-62 to Duke and 75-56 to Iowa State. With just 2:13 left in the second half, the Hawkeyes trailed the Badgers by eight points, forcing overtime thanks to junior forward Patrick McCaffery, but they ultimately failed to meet the odds as 4-point home favorites.
