Game outlook

Arizona is on the road playing Indiana at the MGM Grand Garden Arena stadium on Saturday, 12/10/2022 @ 7:30pm EST. Arizona -1.5 was the opening favorite and line hasn't moved.

On a neutral floor in the Silver State, a member of the Pac-12 will take on a member of the Big Ten. In the Las Vegas Clash, the #10 Arizona Wildcats travel to face the #14 Indiana Hoosiers. Arizona won 81-68 at home against Cal on Sunday, but failed to cover the line as a 23-point favorite. As a 13.5-point underdog, Indiana beat Nebraska 81-65 at home on Wednesday night. The two programs have never met on the hardwood before.

Wildcats look to roll to victory

In their previous game, Arizona defeated Cal at home after losing to Utah on the road. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 7-1 overall and 1-1 in the Pac-12. Against Cal, Arizona broke a 6-6 tie with an early 9-0 run and held the lead the rest of the way. In the second half, the Wildcats never let the Golden Bears get closer than seven points. The Wildcats scored 49.2% from the floor, including four of 20 from three-point range, and held a 37-31 advantage on the glass. Azuolas Tubelis led the Wildcats with 25 points and 12 rebounds.

In terms of scoring offense, the Wildcats are averaging 91.5 points per game this season, which ranks them third in the nation. Arizona grabs 41.1 rebounds per game (22nd) and dishes out 21 assists per game (2nd). In terms of defense, the Wildcats are 342nd in the nation, allowing 77.6 points per game. Tubelis averages 20.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for the team. Courtney Ramey (13.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists) and Kerr Kriisa (12.8 points, 7.8 assists) each average double figures for Arizona. For Tommy Lloyd, the Wildcats also rely on Pelle Larsson, Cedric Henderson Jr., Adama Bal, Henri Veesaar and Kylan Boswell.

The Indiana Hoosiers are aiming for their second straight victory

Wednesday night, Indiana bounced back from their first loss of the season by defeating Nebraska at home. On the season, the Hoosiers are 8-1 overall and 1-1 in the Big Ten. Against Nebraska, Indiana jumped out to a 14-2 lead 6:23 into the game. In the second half, the Hoosiers led by 13 and didn't let the Cornhuskers get closer than seven. From the field, Indiana shot 53.3%, including 11 of 25 from three-point range, and won the rebounding match 35-25. With 20 points and four rebounds, Trey Galloway led the Hoosiers, while Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the win.

On the season, the Hoosiers average 82.1 points per game, ranking 29th in scoring offense. The Hoosiers average 37.6 rebounds and 17.7 assists per game. In terms of scoring defense, the Hoosiers are 32nd in the nation, allowing 61 points per game on average. In this season's regular season, Trayce Jackson-Davis led the team with 17.5 points and 8.9 rebounds.

As this contest takes place on a neutral court, there is no home court advantage to speak of between these two elite teams. As two of the top three shooting teams in the country, this game will be highly entertaining. Arizona's offense is team-oriented, and they are good effective on the glass as well. The Wildcats do have issues on defense, as the Hoosiers have the advantage there. Having said that, Arizona has four players who average in double figures this season. They also have two others who score over nine points per game, and a promising point guard in Kriisa. It was a very close basketball game and the Wildcats came out on top.
