Game outlook

Fresno St. is on the road playing Pacific at the Spanos Center stadium on Saturday, 12/10/2022 @ 5:00pm EST. Fresno St. -4 was the opening favorite and line hasn't moved.

The Fresno State Bulldogs and Pacific Tigers meet in an interesting non-conference matchup on Saturday evening at the Alex G. Spanos Center. With a 3-5 record, Fresno State hasn't fared much better than Pacific, which has a 3-7 record. Both teams had much higher expectations for the season before the season started, so a win here would be crucial. The Bulldogs have won three straight in the series, with the last two extending into overtime. This one is expected to be close as well and could certainly turn either way.

It's been a good year for the Bulldogsgs

While Fresno State has had a slow start to the season, there is no doubt that they are finding their feet. Their last two wins against Cal State Northridge and UC Irvine have helped them get back on track, though even their losses have been impressive. Despite losing five games by double digits, they kept it close against San Francisco and two Power 5 teams. This one will be played on the road, where they have a 1-4 record away from home. They'll be hoping that their recent run of form will get them over the hump against Pacific.

There is one injury that Fresno State is still trying to navigate. Joseph Hunter (thumb) remains out for the season after breaking down just before the season began. His absence should be minimized as the season progresses since he hasn't played a minute this season.

Struggle Continues For Tigers

Following a terrible season last year, Pacific hasn't shown much improvement so far this year. In addition to losing back-to-back games, they have lost six of their last seven games. The fact that they are 0-5 at home doesn't help their confidence, meaning they won't create the most intimidating atmosphere on Saturday night. Pacific has played an easier schedule than Fresno State so far. The Bulldogs have been tested and are likely well-prepared for this meeting, but this could be the toughest team the Tigers have faced this year. After this, the schedule doesn't get any easier, so righting the ship is a must.

In this case, they will at least be completely healthy, which is an advantage. Injuries do not appear on the Tigers' injury report, and considering the talent gap between the two teams, depth might be crucial.

In this one, the Bulldogs will win with ease thanks to their unstoppable frontcourt. Despite Pacific's small lineup, Fresno State has the size to make them pay inside. Pacific has struggled against an easy schedule, while the Bulldogs have faced a few Power 5 teams. Those tests will help them in this one, and even though they'll be on the road, their high-level scoring will not be slowed down. According to covers.com, Pacific has a 0-7 ATS record at home, while the favorite has also posted a 6-1 ATS record.
