Green Bay Phoenix vs St. Thomas - Minnesota prediction, odds and best bet for Nov. 8

Game time: November 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM ET

Venue: Lee & Penny Anderson Arena — Saint Paul, MN

Article updated Nov 7, 10:40 PM EST

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

St. Thomas - Minnesota will beat Green Bay Phoenix 78-70 in our forecast for Nov. 8. The Tommies’ second-half response at Minnesota and consistent early contributions from Jeremy Lorenz and Hayden Tibbits give the home side a slight preference. Confidence is low, and neither St. Thomas -8.5 (-115) nor the 149.5 total offers a compelling wager. The official betting recommendation is Pass.

Green Bay Phoenix vs St. Thomas - Minnesota prediction and best bet

St. Thomas is the pick to win its home opener, with a competitive finish against Minnesota offering some encouragement after a 76-62 defeat. The Tommies outscored Minnesota after halftime, but that response should temper concern about the loss rather than become a promise of success against Green Bay.

The best bet is Pass. Our eight-point projected margin puts the game close to the supplied spread, while the projected 148 points sit just below the total. Neither difference is persuasive enough to justify a wager. The winner forecast carries low confidence.

Green Bay Phoenix outlook

Green Bay enters with the same 1-1 record as St. Thomas, according to Covers. That gives the teams matching early results in the standings, but it says little about how their offenses and defenses compare. The Phoenix’s record alone is neither a reason to dismiss them nor a persuasive case for an upset.

For Green Bay, the betting distinction is straightforward: an outright win and a cover are different outcomes. At +8.5 (-105), the Phoenix can lose by eight points and still cover. Our forecast lands on precisely that margin, although such a small cushion against the line is too fragile to turn into a recommendation.

The +317 moneyline offers a different proposition, requiring Green Bay to win. This preview favors St. Thomas outright; it does not identify a Phoenix matchup advantage strong enough to justify an upset wager.

St. Thomas - Minnesota outlook

St. Thomas’s official recap supplies a mixed picture of its Nov. 6 loss at Minnesota. The Tommies fell behind by as many as 21, then narrowed the deficit to seven with fewer than six minutes remaining. They won the second half 40-36 but finished with a 14-point loss.

Jeremy Lorenz scored 13 points and collected at least five rebounds. He has reached at least 13 points and five rebounds in each of the first two games. Hayden Tibbits scored 12 against Minnesota and has reached at least 12 in both appearances. Those are encouraging early contributions, although two games are a short foundation for projecting dependable production.

Austin Herro supplied five assists, two turnovers and two blocks against Minnesota. Caden Wilkins added a season-high six rebounds. Those individual contributions help explain the preference for St. Thomas, while the large deficit remains a reason to be cautious about laying points.

Key matchup factors

The central question is how much weight to give St. Thomas’s recovery at Minnesota. It shows the Tommies competed effectively during part of that game. It does not make their second-half scoring rate a dependable expectation against a different opponent. Our forecast gives that response some weight without overlooking the full result.

SportsJaw’s Nov. 7 consensus update at 17:33 UTC lists St. Thomas - Minnesota -8.5 (-115) as the community spread leader at 60%. Qualified handicappers also favor that selection at 60%. These are separate measures of picking preference, not a 60% probability of covering.

Both groups list Over 149.5 (-110) at 50%. That is an even split, so the listed Over leader supplies no directional majority. The spread preference is clearer, but our editorial assessment remains more cautious about the price.

Green Bay Phoenix vs St. Thomas - Minnesota spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on St. Thomas - Minnesota -8.5 (-115) and Green Bay Phoenix +8.5 (-105).

St. Thomas must win by at least nine to cover. The home setting and early contributions from Lorenz and Tibbits support choosing the Tommies to win, but the Minnesota performance offers reasons for caution alongside encouragement.

Our eight-point forecast would favor Green Bay against the spread. A half-point difference between a low-confidence projection and the line is not a convincing advantage, however. We also decline to follow the community and qualified-handicapper preference for laying 8.5.

Green Bay Phoenix vs St. Thomas - Minnesota total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 149.5 (-110) and Under 149.5 (-110).

The projected 148 points are 1.5 below the line, a narrow difference for a low-confidence forecast. St. Thomas’s 62 points against Minnesota and 40-point second half illustrate how differently portions of one game can unfold. Neither figure should dictate this matchup’s total.

The 50% consensus readings add no majority preference. With no established scoring or tempo comparison between these opponents, there is no persuasive reason to pay -110 on either direction.

Green Bay Phoenix vs St. Thomas - Minnesota Projected Score & Betting Picks

Game forecast: St. Thomas - Minnesota 78, Green Bay Phoenix 70. Confidence: low. The home opener and the Tommies’ encouraging individual contributions drive the selection.

The strongest counterargument is the uneven Minnesota performance, especially the 21-point deficit. Green Bay’s matching record also leaves room for a closer contest than the favorite’s price suggests. This is a slight editorial preference, not a demonstrated betting edge. The single official SportsJaw wager is Pass.
