Lafayette Leopards vs St. Josephs Hawks prediction, odds and best bet for Nov. 7

Game time: November 7, 2026 at 4:00 PM ET

Venue: Michael J. Hagan '85 Arena — Philadelphia, PA

Article updated Nov 7, 9:03 AM EST

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

St. Josephs will beat Lafayette, with a projected final of St. Josephs 80, Lafayette 64. Sean Logan’s shot-blocking and passing give the Hawks the strongest matchup advantage against a Leopards team that scored 60 in its only Division I game so far. The supplied prices offer no compelling wager: pass on the 17.5-point spread and the 146.5 total.

Lafayette Leopards vs St. Josephs Hawks prediction and best bet

The Hawks are the pick to win, but the official SportsJaw betting recommendation is Pass. Their season-opening victory over Longwood featured eight blocks, according to Saint Joseph’s Athletics. That performance gives the home favorite a credible defensive foundation, although one game is too small a sample to expect the same impact every night.

Our 16-point projected margin falls short of St. Josephs -17.5 (-115). That creates a modest preference for Lafayette’s side of the number, but not enough conviction to recommend Lafayette +17.5 (-106). The distinction matters: the Hawks can control this matchup without rewarding bettors who lay the points.

Lafayette Leopards outlook

Cooper Kesler gives Lafayette its most persuasive offensive counterargument. Lafayette Athletics reports that he scored 25 points against King’s, shooting 9-for-13 overall and 6-for-9 from three. Saint Joseph’s preview lists his scoring average at 17.0 points entering this matchup. His perimeter shooting offers a way to score without repeatedly challenging Logan near the basket.

Freshman Owen Kelly started against King’s and contributed 12 points, three rebounds and three assists. Jasraj Gill entered this game averaging 7.0 rebounds with a team-leading nine assists, according to the Hawks’ preview. Their contributions matter because a competitive road performance likely requires scoring opportunities beyond Kesler’s individual shot-making.

Lafayette’s results need context. The Leopards beat King’s 104-67 but lost 96-60 at Butler in their only Division I game to date. The offensive ceiling against King’s is encouraging; the Butler result is the more relevant warning for this forecast. Neither result alone defines what Lafayette will produce Saturday.

St. Josephs Hawks outlook

Logan’s opener was about more than protecting the rim. Saint Joseph’s Athletics credits him with seven assists, seven rebounds and six blocks against Longwood. That combination suggests he can influence possessions at both ends, making him central to the Hawks’ projected advantage even without a scoring-heavy performance.

BJ Ranson supplied 17 points and six rebounds in his collegiate debut. Jaiden Glover-Toscano brings a longer scoring record: Lafayette’s official preview says he averaged 15.7 points across 34 starts in 2025-26. Ranson’s debut is promising, while Glover-Toscano’s previous season offers a broader basis for trusting the offense.

The Hawks finished last season 24-12 overall and 13-5 in Atlantic 10 play. That record supplies useful background, but Saturday’s margin will depend on how this lineup performs. Extending the Longwood debut into an assumption of sustained defensive dominance would ask too much of one result.

Key matchup factors

The central tactical question is how often Lafayette can generate perimeter opportunities instead of attacking the Hawks’ shot-blocking. Kesler’s shooting gives the Leopards a plausible answer. If those shots fall, the game could remain within a large spread even if St. Josephs stays in command.

Other analysts agree on the winner but differ on the size of the victory. Dimers projects St. Josephs 83, Lafayette 64 and assigns the Hawks a 94.9% win probability. Bandwagon projects St. Josephs 80, Lafayette 67 with an 87% win probability. Those are separate model estimates, not SportsJaw’s confidence rating or proof of betting value.

SportsJaw’s consensus snapshot, updated November 7 at 13:54 UTC, also shows disagreement. The blended spread leader is St. Josephs at 61%, and external consensus favors the Hawks at 68%. SportsJaw members and qualified handicappers each favor Lafayette at 67%. These selection shares describe preferences, not either team’s chance of covering.

Lafayette Leopards vs St. Josephs Hawks spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on St. Josephs -17.5 (-115) and Lafayette +17.5 (-106). Dimers’ projected score clears the Hawks’ spread, while Bandwagon’s score puts Lafayette inside the number. Their agreement on the winner therefore conceals a meaningful betting disagreement.

Our forecast also has Lafayette covering, but only by 1.5 points. That cushion is too thin to make the underdog the official wager, particularly with its lone Division I result ending in a 36-point defeat. The opposing member and external preferences reinforce the need to distinguish a likely Hawks victory from a reliable spread selection.

Lafayette Leopards vs St. Josephs Hawks total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 146.5 (-110) and Under 146.5 (-110). Both outside score forecasts add up to 147, just half a point above the supplied total. That proximity offers little margin for an Over recommendation.

Our projected total is 144, giving the Under a slight numerical preference. The case rests on Lafayette having difficulty scoring inside, but Kesler’s perimeter upside works against it. Without a stronger basis for projecting possession volume or repeatable shooting efficiency, a 2.5-point difference is not enough to make Under 146.5 (-110) the official wager.

Lafayette Leopards vs St. Josephs Hawks Projected Score & Betting Picks

Game forecast: St. Josephs 80, Lafayette 64. Logan’s defensive influence, Glover-Toscano’s scoring history and Ranson’s encouraging debut support the Hawks. Lafayette’s strongest counter is productive perimeter shooting, which could narrow the margin without changing the winner.

Confidence is medium in the winner forecast. The early results support an ordinary edge, while the disagreement over the spread keeps the betting judgment cautious. Both market recommendations are Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
