Mercer Bears vs Davidson Wildcats Prediction, Odds and Best Bet for Nov. 7, 2026

Game time: November 7, 2026 at 7:00 PM ET

Venue: John M. Belk Arena — Davidson, NC

Article updated Nov 6, 11:49 PM EST

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Davidson is the pick to beat Mercer, 78-68, behind the balanced scoring and experienced contributors highlighted in its season opener. Mercer’s turnover trouble in its latest game strengthens the Wildcats’ case, but the supplied Davidson -11.5 (-122) price leaves too much to ask of that limited comparison. The official betting recommendation is Pass, with no compelling wager on total 148 either.

Mercer Bears vs Davidson Wildcats prediction and best bet

Davidson should win this matchup, but backing the Wildcats to cover 11.5 points requires a stronger case than picking them outright. Their opening victory over Washington State offers encouraging evidence of offensive balance. Mercer’s loss at Virginia Tech raises concerns about ball security, although those results came against different opponents.

The forecast is Davidson 78, Mercer 68, with medium confidence in the winner. That margin falls short of the supplied spread. It also leaves only two points between the projected combined score and total 148. Neither difference is persuasive enough for an official wager, making Pass the best betting decision.

Mercer Bears outlook

Mercer’s November 5 recap identifies KJ LaMonte as the bright spot in a 96-67 loss at Virginia Tech. He scored 21 points on 6-for-10 shooting, adding five assists and four rebounds. Karon Boyd supplied 12 points and six rebounds and was the only other Bear to score in double figures.

The team’s offensive results were less encouraging: 22-for-54 shooting overall and 6-for-20 from three. More damaging were 18 turnovers against Virginia Tech’s four. The Hokies scored 26 points from Mercer’s giveaways and finished with a 15-2 advantage in fast-break points.

Those figures make possession security Mercer’s clearest priority. LaMonte’s individual production gives the Bears a starting point, but a more competitive performance requires more possessions ending with shots. The 39-34 rebounding deficit was smaller than the turnover disparity, so ball handling deserves greater emphasis in this forecast.

Davidson Wildcats outlook

Davidson’s November 6 preview describes a productive opening performance in its 76-61 win over Washington State. Sam Brown scored 22 points, Nick Janowski had 21, Josh Scovens added 17 and Ian Platteeuw contributed 10. All four played more than 30 minutes.

Platteeuw’s contribution extended beyond scoring. He collected nine rebounds and a career-high eight assists while playing a career-high 34 minutes without a personal foul. His passing is an encouraging part of the offensive picture, although one game cannot set an expectation for his nightly production.

There is experience behind that opening result. Brown, Scovens and Platteeuw each started at least 25 games in 2025-26, and Scovens earned 2026-27 A-10 Preseason All-Second Team recognition. The caution concerns shooting: Davidson made 54.7% overall and 52.2% from three, going 12-for-23 beyond the arc. The forecast allows for a less accurate perimeter performance.

Key matchup factors

The central question is how much Mercer improves its possession security. Repeating its Virginia Tech turnover total would put considerable pressure on its shooting. A cleaner game would give the Bears a better opportunity to stay close, particularly if Davidson’s outside accuracy drops.

Davidson’s scoring distribution makes it the preferred winner, but Mercer’s mistakes against Virginia Tech are not evidence that the Wildcats will force the same mistakes. The forecast favors Davidson’s offensive options without assigning it an unverified advantage in generating turnovers.

SportsJaw member picks favor Davidson -11.5 (-122) and Under 148 (-110), each with 100% community support in its respective market. The spread update was November 6 at 17:32 UTC; the total update was at 17:30 UTC. Those percentages describe member selections, not win probabilities or confidence ratings. They offer a community view without settling either price decision.

Mercer Bears vs Davidson Wildcats spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Davidson -11.5 (-122) and Mercer +11.5 (-130). Davidson’s balance and returning experience support the outright selection. The additional demand of winning by at least 12 points is harder to justify from these early results.

The projected 10-point margin places Mercer inside the spread, but a 1.5-point difference is too narrow to make the Bears an attractive recommendation at -130. Their recent turnover problems also make that cushion fragile. SportsJaw’s community preference is Davidson; the editorial decision is to pass on both supplied spread prices.

Mercer Bears vs Davidson Wildcats total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 148 (-110) and Under 148 (-110). The forecast adds up to 146 points, slightly below the number and in the same direction as the community’s Under preference.

There are competing possibilities. Another strong Davidson shooting performance could push scoring higher, while improved Mercer ball security could reduce the easy chances its previous opponent enjoyed. The effect on the total depends on how well Mercer converts its own possessions. With only these early performances to assess, a two-point projected difference is too small for a wager.

Mercer Bears vs Davidson Wildcats Projected Score & Betting Picks

Projected score: Davidson Wildcats 78, Mercer Bears 68. The Wildcats’ multiple scoring contributors and returning experience give them the stronger foundation for this forecast. The principal counterargument is that their opening shooting percentages may flatter the offensive gap, especially if Mercer cuts its giveaways.

Davidson is the projected winner with medium confidence. Confidence in that outcome does not carry over to a double-digit spread or a closely aligned total. Both markets are a Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
