Virginia Military Keydets vs Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners prediction, odds and best bet

Game time: November 7, 2026 at 5:00 PM ET

Venue: UTSA Convocation Center — San Antonio, TX

Article updated Nov 6, 11:17 PM EST

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Texas-San Antonio is our projected winner over Virginia Military, 83-79, with VMI’s 95-70 loss at SMU the strongest recent-performance reason to favor the Roadrunners at home. The Keydets’ dependable scoring from TJ Johnson keeps the forecast close. Neither Texas-San Antonio -6 (-110) nor the total of 161.5 offers a convincing betting advantage, so the official recommendation is Pass.

Virginia Military Keydets vs Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners prediction and best bet

Texas-San Antonio gets the winner pick, but the best betting decision is Pass. VMI’s latest result gives reason for caution about the visitors, while the Roadrunners’ 0-1 record offers no winning start to balance that concern. Our forecast is a narrow home victory with low confidence.

The outside opinions differ materially. Pick Dawgz writer Andrew Jett selects VMI without specifying the wager type. PardonMe Sports Analytics projects Texas-San Antonio to win by 19. Neither view is a result, and their disagreement makes a strong betting endorsement difficult to justify.

Virginia Military Keydets outlook

VMI’s November 5 loss at SMU was decisive, but TJ Johnson supplied a useful individual bright spot. The senior scored 19 points and led the Keydets in scoring for the second time in two games. VMI reported that his double-digit scoring streak had reached nine games, with a 17.9-point average across that stretch dating to early February.

Rickey Bradley Jr. added 13 points and five rebounds. The Keydets also converted 29 of 33 free throws, or 87.9%. That performance gives VMI a plausible route to staying competitive if it earns another substantial number of attempts. Repeating the accuracy and generating the opportunities are separate challenges, however. One productive night at the line is not a promise of another.

Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners outlook

Texas-San Antonio enters 0-1 and is priced as the home favorite. That makes the Roadrunners the market’s preferred winner, but a favorite’s price alone says little about which players will create separation or how comfortably the team should win.

PardonMe supplies the most optimistic outside assessment: Texas-San Antonio 92.5, VMI 73.5, with a 75.6% home win probability and a model line of Texas-San Antonio -19.0. Those are that model’s estimates, not SportsJaw’s probability or confidence rating. Our projection is considerably closer because the Roadrunners’ team-specific case is thinner than that margin suggests.

Key matchup factors

The central question is how much weight to place on VMI’s result against a different opponent. Losing by 25 points at SMU is a warning, but transferring that margin directly to this game would assume too much about Texas-San Antonio. Johnson’s scoring continuity is a reason to leave the Keydets a competitive path.

SportsJaw’s November 6 consensus shows Texas-San Antonio -6 leading member picks at 75%. The qualified-handicapper view also favors that side at 75%. Over 161.5 leads each group’s total selections at 67%. These percentages describe selections, not the probability that either wager wins. Agreement between the groups adds context without supplying an independently measured edge.

Virginia Military Keydets vs Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Texas-San Antonio -6 (-110) and Virginia Military +6 (-110). Our four-point forecast falls inside VMI’s cushion, but that small projected advantage is too fragile to make the visitors an official play.

PardonMe’s margin favors laying the six, while Jett’s VMI selection points toward the opposing team. Because Jett leaves the wager type unspecified, his pick should not be presented as a confirmed VMI +6 recommendation. Johnson and the Keydets’ free-throw performance make a close finish plausible; they do not make the underdog’s cover dependable.

Virginia Military Keydets vs Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 161.5 (-108) and Under 161.5 (-112). The projected 162 points sit just half a point above the line, leaving virtually no separation between our forecast and the betting threshold.

VMI’s SMU game finished with 165 combined points, and its free throws contributed substantially to its own scoring. Still, that was one game against another opponent. The community and qualified-handicapper preferences for the Over are useful sentiment, but they do not answer how much scoring Texas-San Antonio will contribute here.

Virginia Military Keydets vs Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners Projected Score & Betting Picks

Projected score: Texas-San Antonio 83, Virginia Military 79. The home favorite gets the nod after VMI’s heavy road defeat, with Johnson’s sustained scoring the strongest counterargument to a comfortable Roadrunners win.

Confidence is low. This is an editorial forecast of a competitive Texas-San Antonio victory, not an endorsement of the much larger external model margin. Both the spread and total are passes, and the single official SportsJaw betting recommendation is Pass.
