Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders vs Kansas Jayhawks Prediction, Odds and Best Bet

Game time: November 6, 2026 at 9:00 PM ET

Venue: Allen Fieldhouse — Lawrence, KS

Article updated Nov 6, 9:55 AM EST

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Kansas is our projected winner over Middle Tennessee, with a forecast of Kansas 88, Middle Tennessee 62. The Jayhawks’ efficient shooting and strong rebounding in their opener give them the stronger early profile. However, one game per team leaves considerable uncertainty around a 29.5-point spread and 153.5 total. Neither supplied price offers a convincing wager, making the official SportsJaw recommendation Pass.

Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders vs Kansas Jayhawks prediction and best bet

Kansas should win this 2026-27 men’s college basketball matchup comfortably. Its opener featured efficient scoring and contributions across several roles, making a decisive home victory the most persuasive forecast. Our projection is Kansas 88, Middle Tennessee 62, with medium confidence.

Best bet: Pass. Picking the winner is easier than pricing the margin here. The outside forecasts favor Middle Tennessee against the spread and finish below the total, but their cushions are modest. Those opinions help frame the matchup without making either wager compelling.

Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders outlook

Middle Tennessee began November 2 with a 117-73 victory over Fisk. According to the school’s preview, junior guard Quintero Barnett scored 24 points on 9-for-15 shooting, adding four assists and two rebounds in 27 minutes. Senior wing Eli Rice supplied 18 points off the bench and made five three-pointers.

That gives the Blue Raiders two identifiable scoring options entering Lawrence. Barnett’s combination of scoring and assists offers a route to productive possessions, while Rice’s perimeter shooting could help Middle Tennessee stay within a large spread. Neither performance guarantees similar efficiency against Kansas.

Friday is Middle Tennessee’s first ranked matchup since an 86-61 loss at Michigan on November 19, 2025. That result belongs to last season and carries less weight than the current personnel. The opener is encouraging, but one productive night against Fisk is a narrow foundation for forecasting this offense.

Kansas Jayhawks outlook

Kansas Athletics reports that the Jayhawks shot 58.3% and outrebounded Fordham 50-33 in their November 2 opener. The official previews disagree on the final: Kansas reports 95-65, while Middle Tennessee lists 96-65. Either account describes a decisive Kansas victory; the one-point difference remains unresolved.

Tre White led Kansas with 22 points on 9-for-12 shooting, including 3-for-5 from three. Tyran Stokes added 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting and seven rebounds. Melvin Council Jr. contributed 10 points and a team-high seven assists, and Keanu Dawes led the game with nine rebounds.

The useful takeaway is the distribution of production. Kansas had different players supplying scoring, passing and rebounding, which strengthens its win forecast. The caution is sustainability: those shooting percentages came from one game, and projecting another efficient performance is different from expecting the same conversion rate.

Key matchup factors

Kansas’s opening rebounding performance is a reason to favor the Jayhawks, but it is not yet a demonstrated advantage over Middle Tennessee. The key question is whether Kansas can repeat that work against this opponent while containing the Blue Raiders’ perimeter scoring.

The teams’ shared 3-0 series record in Kansas’s favor offers little guidance for the current spread. Their last meeting was in November 2000. Friday’s personnel and price deserve far more weight than that history.

SportsJaw’s spread snapshot, updated November 6 at 14:47 UTC, shows a 61% blended preference for Kansas -30.5 (-110). The modeled equivalent sample totals 605 selections, including 369 for Kansas. These are estimated selections, not observed sportsbook tickets.

SportsJaw members favor Kansas -30.5 (-110) at 60%, while the external share is 61% and qualified handicappers favor that same selection at 60%. These measures describe preferences, not Kansas’s probability of covering. They also concern a different spread from the current -29.5.

Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders vs Kansas Jayhawks spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Middle Tennessee +29.5 (-110) and Kansas -29.5 (-110). Our projected 26-point margin points toward the Blue Raiders, but the cushion is only 3.5 points.

Dimers projects Kansas 89, Middle Tennessee 62 and assigns Middle Tennessee +29.5 a 54.0% cover probability. Predictem’s Joe Jensen explicitly recommends Middle Tennessee +29.5 and projects Kansas 88, Middle Tennessee 62. Those are the analysts’ views, separate from SportsJaw’s forecast.

Their underdog preference conflicts with the Kansas support in the consensus snapshot, although the consensus uses -30.5. Kansas’s productive opener supplies a credible case for a larger margin. With such limited current-season results, the small projection advantage is too fragile for an official spread wager.

Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders vs Kansas Jayhawks total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 153.5 (-110) and Under 153.5 (-110). Our forecast totals 150 points, giving the Under a directional lean but only a 3.5-point cushion.

Dimers forecasts 151 combined points, and Predictem forecasts 150. SportsJaw’s community total preference is 100% Under 157 (-110), but that higher threshold is materially more forgiving than Under 153.5. It should not be treated as equivalent backing for the current price.

Both teams produced substantial offense in their openers. Those performances leave room for a higher-scoring result, while the two outside projections offer only modest room beneath 153.5. Agreement on a lower score is insufficient reason to elevate the Under into the strongest official bet.

Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders vs Kansas Jayhawks Projected Score & Betting Picks

Game forecast: Kansas 88, Middle Tennessee 62. Kansas’s opening efficiency and range of contributors support a comfortable victory. Middle Tennessee’s Barnett-Rice scoring combination is the strongest counterargument to the projected margin, particularly if its perimeter shooting carries over.

Confidence is medium in the game forecast. Dimers’ 98.4% Kansas win probability belongs to its model and is not SportsJaw’s confidence rating. Both the spread and total remain passes at the supplied prices. The single official SportsJaw betting recommendation is Pass.
