Fairleigh Dickinson Knights vs Butler Bulldogs prediction and best bet

Game time: November 4, 2026 at 7:00 PM ET

Venue: Hinkle Fieldhouse — Indianapolis, IN

Article updated Nov 3, 10:16 PM EST

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Butler will beat Fairleigh Dickinson 88-64 in our November 4 forecast, with the Bulldogs’ balanced scoring and opening-game rebounding performance providing the strongest matchup advantages. FDU’s struggles at Illinois strengthen the case for a home win, though both teams have played only once. Neither Butler -24 (-115) nor total 150 (-110) offers enough value for an official wager.

Fairleigh Dickinson Knights vs Butler Bulldogs prediction and best bet

Butler is the pick to win, with medium confidence in the game forecast. Its 96-60 victory over Lafayette showed several scoring options and a strong rebounding performance. Fairleigh Dickinson enters after losing 120-45 at No. 3 Illinois, leaving the Knights with substantial improvements to make at both ends.

The official SportsJaw betting recommendation is Pass. Our projected margin of 24 points lands directly on the supplied spread, while the projected total of 152 leaves only a small cushion above 150. The opening results favor Butler, but they offer less certainty about the final margin or combined score.

Fairleigh Dickinson Knights outlook

FDU's official recap describes a difficult opener at Illinois: a 67-20 halftime deficit, 65 rebounds collected by the opponent and 31 Illinois second-chance points. Those extra scoring opportunities are the most concerning part of the result for this matchup. Better shooting alone may not keep the Knights competitive if they struggle to finish defensive possessions.

David Jevtic supplied an encouraging individual performance with 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting, including 2-for-4 from three, and six rebounds. Vophcy Prophete contributed eight bench points in 22 minutes. Freshman Diing Maiwen also made two threes in his collegiate debut.

Those contributions give FDU something to build around, but the team made just 5 of 33 three-point attempts, according to Butler's matchup primer. Facing No. 3 Illinois is meaningful context: that performance warrants concern without becoming an expectation that FDU will struggle equally against every opponent.

Butler Bulldogs outlook

Butler's official opener recap highlights an offense with several productive contributors. Asim Djulovic scored 19 points, Jalen Jackson added 18 and Jordan Ellerbee finished with 16 on 6-for-8 shooting. Each of those three players made four of six attempts from beyond the arc.

The Bulldogs made 16 threes overall and had six players reach double figures. Eduardo Klafke supplied eight assists and seven rebounds, while Drayton Jones recorded 10 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. That distribution gives Butler multiple ways to attack if one scorer cools.

The less reassuring number was 20 turnovers. Butler overcame those mistakes against Lafayette, but giving away possessions complicates a large-spread assignment. Its 16-for-17 free-throw shooting and Lafayette's 4-for-24 three-point performance also helped produce the opening margin; neither should be assumed to repeat.

Key matchup factors

Rebounding is the clearest connection between the teams' opening performances. Butler held a 51-28 advantage against Lafayette, while Illinois repeatedly extended possessions against FDU. That points toward a Butler advantage on the glass, although the teams faced different opponents and those margins are not directly interchangeable.

Perimeter shooting creates the widest range of plausible outcomes. A better night from FDU could keep the Knights within the number even if Butler controls the game. Another efficient Butler shooting performance could instead push the margin beyond our forecast.

Dimers offers a useful outside comparison: its 10,000-simulation model projects Butler to win 88-66 and assigns the Bulldogs a 97% win probability. It separately gives FDU a 52.0% cover probability at +24.5. Those are Dimers' model estimates, not SportsJaw confidence ratings or community picks, and its spread differs from the supplied +24.

Fairleigh Dickinson Knights vs Butler Bulldogs spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Butler -24 (-115) and Fairleigh Dickinson +24 (-105). Our 24-point projected margin offers no cushion on either side.

Butler's scoring options and rebounding performance make a decisive win plausible. Its turnovers and the uncertainty surrounding FDU's response make the size of that win harder to judge. Dimers' slight preference for FDU at +24.5 adds caution about laying points, but that extra half-point matters. Its estimate cannot be carried unchanged to FDU +24.

Fairleigh Dickinson Knights vs Butler Bulldogs total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 150 (-110) and Under 150 (-110). Our projected 152 points sit slightly above the line, without enough separation to justify an Over wager.

The Over case rests on Butler sustaining efficient offense and FDU improving its shooting. The Under case rests on another difficult scoring night for the Knights or a cooler Butler perimeter performance. With one game apiece, there is too much uncertainty about repeatable shooting efficiency to favor either direction at this price.

Fairleigh Dickinson Knights vs Butler Bulldogs Projected Score & Betting Picks

Game forecast: Butler 88, Fairleigh Dickinson 64. Butler's balanced scoring and favorable rebounding matchup earn the selection. The strongest counterargument to a wide margin is that FDU's opener came against No. 3 Illinois, while Butler still committed 20 turnovers in its own victory.

Confidence is medium in Butler as the projected winner. That confidence does not extend to a spread or total edge. Both markets remain passes, and the single official SportsJaw wager is Pass.
