Missouri Tigers (13-3 SU, 9-7 ATS) and Florida Gators (9-7 SU, 7-9 ATS) will face off on the hardwood Saturday at Exactech Arena. Texas A&M defeated the Tigers 82-64 on Wednesday to fall to 2-2 in Southeastern Conference play. A 67-56 win at LSU last week gave the Gators a 2-2 SEC record.
Is it possible for the Tigers to regain their footing?
After winning nine straight games in non-conference play, Missouri fell to sixth-ranked Kansas. However, the Tigers did not stumble after that, beating UCF, Illinois, and Kentucky in a row. In the preseason SEC poll, Mizzou was picked to finish 11th, but it's safe to say it has exceeded expectations. However, the Tigers have lost two of their last three after falling Wednesday to the Aggies. There was never more than a bucket difference between TAMU and the other team after halftime. Including 7-for-31 (22.6%) from three, Missouri shot 21-of-59 (35.6%). The Aggies had 18 turnovers and outrebounded the Tigers 42-25.
A dominant defense can be found in Florida
The Gators are 9-7, but have won consecutive games against SEC opponents. However, the Tigers are a formidable opponent after winning 13 of their first 16. According to the conference's preseason poll, Florida will finish seventh. Despite trailing 28-25 at halftime, Florida won by 11 against LSU on Tuesday. Senior forward Colin Castleton contributed 18 points, seven rebounds, and five blocked shots to the Gators' 42 second-half points. 32.2 percent of LSU's shots were from distance (5-for-28), including 17.9 percent (5-for-59). In their home loss, the Tigers also committed 16 turnovers.
