Atlanta Hawks vs Houston Rockets Predictions Today

Game time: October 26, 2026 at 8:30 PM ET

Venue: Toyota Center (Houston) — Houston, TX

Article updated Oct 26, 7:57 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

The Houston Rockets will beat the Atlanta Hawks, 118-114, in our forecast for Oct. 26. Houston's seven-point win over Atlanta on Oct. 24 and Fred VanVleet's availability give the Rockets the edge, although Jalen Johnson's production makes this a low-confidence call. Houston -5 (-108) offers too little cushion for a wager, and the total of 229.5 (-110) is also a Pass.

Atlanta Hawks vs Houston Rockets prediction and best bet

Houston gets the winner pick after beating Atlanta 121-114 two days earlier. The Rockets enter 0-0, and VanVleet is available after missing Saturday's game while easing back from a torn ACL. His return gives Houston another playmaking option against a Hawks team whose best accepted evidence centers on Johnson's scoring and passing.

The best betting decision is Pass. Houston's previous seven-point victory supplies a reason to favor the Rockets, but repeating that margin is a tougher call. Atlanta received 26 points and 16 assists from Johnson in that loss, and Houston still has Steven Adams out and Marcus Smart questionable. A competitive Houston win fits the evidence better than a confident spread endorsement.

Atlanta Hawks outlook

Johnson gives Atlanta a credible route to an upset. Through three games, he is averaging 21.7 points, 10.0 rebounds and 10.0 assists in 31.7 minutes. Those numbers show contributions across three major parts of the game, although three appearances are a small sample for projecting how consistently he can sustain that output.

His Oct. 24 performance against Houston is more specific to this matchup: 26 points, nine rebounds and 16 assists in 38 minutes, with two steals and two turnovers. The combination of high assist production and few turnovers is the strongest argument against treating Atlanta as an easy opponent. Johnson created extensively without giving away many possessions through his own mistakes.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker contributed 18 points and made four of 12 three-point attempts in that game. Atlanta still lost 121-114, so substantial production from Johnson alone was insufficient. Another strong shooting contribution would help turn his creation into a different result.

The Hawks list Mouhamed Gueye out with a left foot fracture and Henri Veesaar out with a right ACL tear. Jock Landale is available despite a nasal fracture. Those absences reduce Atlanta's personnel options, but their precise scoring or rebounding cost is unclear.

Houston Rockets outlook

Houston's 3-0 record and recent victory over Atlanta support the winner selection. The Rockets scored 121 points in the Oct. 24 matchup despite Johnson's productive night. That is useful evidence of their ability to win this particular contest, although one result should carry less weight when predicting an exact margin.

VanVleet's availability adds another reason to prefer Houston. The team's Oct. 25 update says he will be available Monday after sitting out the second half of a back-to-back while returning from last season's torn ACL. Across two appearances, he is averaging 10.0 points, 8.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds in 31.0 minutes.

His passing offers a plausible benefit to Houston's offense. Still, those two appearances are too few to treat the averages as settled expectations, and availability alone promises neither a particular workload nor an immediate improvement over Saturday's scoring.

Adams remains out with a right soleus strain. Houston's team page identifies Clint Capela and Jabari Smith as likely recipients of additional minutes in his absence. Smart is questionable with a left forearm strain and could miss a second consecutive game. Those concerns leave Houston with enough uncertainty to temper the forecast, especially when the spread requires a six-point victory to cash.

Key matchup factors

The central tension is Houston's demonstrated ability to beat Atlanta against Johnson's ability to keep creating scoring chances. VanVleet gives the Rockets another distributor, but the injury picture cuts both ways. Counting unavailable players would miss the more important question of how the remaining rotations perform.

At the Oct. 26 update of 11:46 UTC, the blended spread consensus favored Houston -5 (-108) at 63%. Its combined modeled count was 390 Houston selections and 229 Atlanta selections, totaling 619. Those are modeled equivalents incorporating SportsJaw participation, not observed sportsbook tickets. SportsJaw members favored Houston at 53%, a narrower preference. Popularity adds context without turning a close spread decision into a clear bargain.

Atlanta Hawks vs Houston Rockets spread prediction

Pass on Houston -5 (-108) and Atlanta +5 (-104). The projected four-point Houston win falls on Atlanta's side of the spread, but a one-point difference between the forecast margin and the line is too fragile to justify backing the Hawks.

Houston's previous seven-point win pulls the other way, while VanVleet's return introduces another change. Johnson's production and Smart's uncertain status keep a close finish plausible. With credible arguments on both sides, neither the favorite nor the underdog earns an actionable spread recommendation at these prices.

Atlanta Hawks vs Houston Rockets total prediction

Pass on Over 229.5 (-110) and Under 229.5 (-110). The Oct. 24 game produced 235 points, and our projection totals 232. Those figures lean toward a higher-scoring outcome, but one prior result and a narrow forecast difference leave substantial uncertainty.

The blended consensus favors Under at 72%, with SportsJaw members and qualified handicappers each favoring Under at 60%. These measures describe selection preferences, not the probability of the total landing below 229.5. Without broader scoring or pace evidence, neither direction earns the official wager.

Atlanta Hawks vs Houston Rockets projected score

Game forecast: Houston Rockets 118, Atlanta Hawks 114. Houston's recent win over this opponent, unbeaten start and VanVleet's availability make the Rockets the choice. The strongest counterargument is Johnson, whose 16 assists and two turnovers in the previous matchup suggest Atlanta can generate another competitive offensive performance.

Confidence is low because the performance samples are short and Houston has unresolved availability concerns around Smart alongside Adams' absence. The projected margin favors Atlanta relative to the spread, and the projected combined score sits above the total, but neither difference is strong enough to warrant a bet. The single official SportsJaw betting recommendation is Pass.
