Texas Rangers vs Minnesota Twins Predictions Today: Nathan Eovaldi vs Bailey Ober

Game time: September 26, 2026 at 4:10 PM ET

Venue: Target Field — Minneapolis, Minnesota

Article updated Sep 26, 11:26 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

The Minnesota Twins are projected to beat the Texas Rangers 4-3 on September 26, with Minnesota’s stronger scoring average and winning home record giving it a slight edge. Texas’ better bullpen makes the finish uncertain. Neither Minnesota +1.5 (-160) nor total 8 offers a convincing betting advantage at the supplied prices, so the official recommendation is Pass.

Texas Rangers vs Minnesota Twins prediction and best bet

Minnesota is the pick to win, but there is no official wager. The Twins average 4.57 runs per game against Texas’ 4.14, and their 41-38 home record compares favorably with the Rangers’ 34-45 road mark. Those are modest reasons to prefer Minnesota in a close game, rather than evidence of a commanding advantage.

The starting matchup is less decisive than it initially looks. Bailey Ober and Nathan Eovaldi have similar season ERAs, while their recent logs leave questions about innings coverage. Texas has the stronger season bullpen numbers. Minnesota +1.5 (-160) offers protection against a one-run loss, but that protection comes at a price too demanding for this fragile forecast.

Odds, game time and how to watch

Game: Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins, 2026 MLB season.

Time and venue: Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 4:10 p.m. EDT at Target Field.

Broadcast: Rangers Sports Network and Twins.TV.

Probable starters: Right-handers Nathan Eovaldi for Texas and Bailey Ober for Minnesota.

Records: Texas 79-81; Minnesota 76-84. Minnesota won the September 25 series opener 10-2.

SportsJaw moneylines: Texas -131; Minnesota +108. Run lines: Texas -1.5 (+135); Minnesota +1.5 (-160). Total: Over 8 (-110); Under 8 (-110).

Texas Rangers outlook

Eovaldi enters with an 11-10 record, 4.27 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 26 games and 141 1/3 innings. His season totals include 138 hits, 70 runs, 67 earned runs, 24 home runs, 33 walks and 141 strikeouts. The strikeout and walk totals favor him over Ober, although that advantage has not produced a lower season ERA.

His dated September appearances offer a different picture from the full-season strikeout total. On September 16 against Boston, Eovaldi worked four innings with one hit, no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout. September 19 against Toronto brought one inning, two hits, one earned run, no walks and one strikeout. Against the Mets on September 22, he allowed three hits and three earned runs in one inning, with one walk and no strikeouts.

Those outings totaled six innings and just two strikeouts. They make a lengthy, dominant Saturday appearance a risky assumption. Texas can nevertheless lean on a bullpen carrying a 3.54 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. Its offense averages 4.14 runs, while the club allows 4.44 per game. With that scoring profile, preserving a narrow lead looks more plausible than relying on a large offensive cushion.

Minnesota Twins outlook

Ober is 7-6 with a 4.21 ERA and 1.26 WHIP through 24 games and 126 innings. He has allowed 123 hits, 63 runs, 59 earned runs and 19 home runs, with 36 walks and 91 strikeouts. His ERA is slightly better than Eovaldi’s, but his higher WHIP and lower strikeout total temper any claim of a clear starting-pitching advantage.

On September 6 at the White Sox, Ober allowed four hits and one earned run over 4 1/3 innings, walking three and striking out six. His September 15 start against the Yankees was shakier: nine hits, three runs, all earned, one home run and two walks in 5 1/3 innings, with three strikeouts. MLB’s later September 20 appearance shows three innings at the Angels with one hit, no earned runs, no walks and three strikeouts.

Minnesota’s 4.57 runs per game and winning home record support the upset forecast, but its 4.92 runs allowed per game explain the caution. The bullpen has a 4.02 ERA and 1.33 WHIP, and surrendered eight earned runs across 11 1/3 innings in its last three games. That recent workload makes another short appearance from Ober a meaningful concern, even after Minnesota’s 10-2 series-opening win.

Key matchup factors

The central question is how much work reaches the bullpens. Texas has the better season relief profile, so Minnesota’s home and scoring advantages carry more weight if Ober supplies enough innings to limit exposure to its relievers. Neither starter’s latest appearance justifies assuming a long outing.

At 15:10 UTC on September 26, the combined consensus favored Minnesota on the run line, 348-252, Texas on the moneyline, 414-186, and Under, 378-222. Those counts combine modeled sportsbook samples with SportsJaw participation; they are not observed ticket totals or win probabilities. The split preferences fit a close-game outlook, but popularity alone is no reason to pay the Minnesota run-line premium.

Texas Rangers vs Minnesota Twins spread prediction

Run-line recommendation: Pass on Minnesota +1.5 (-160) and Texas -1.5 (+135). Minnesota is the more appealing side for this projected close finish, but -160 requires a cover rate above approximately 61.5% to break even. A one-run score forecast is not a reliable estimate of that probability.

Texas -1.5 (+135) needs a win by at least two runs. Its bullpen advantage helps the Rangers protect leads, but the modest scoring average and losing road record leave me unwilling to back that margin. Neither price earns an official selection.

Texas Rangers vs Minnesota Twins total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 8 (-110) and Under 8 (-110). The projected seven runs suggest an Under lean, with Texas’ season bullpen performance offering the strongest support for a controlled finish. Ober’s September 20 outing also supplies some encouragement.

The opposing case is substantial: Minnesota’s recent relief results have been poor, Eovaldi allowed four earned runs across his latest two innings, and neither pitcher’s recent usage guarantees length. Eight runs would push either wager. The forecast sits below the line, but the scoring uncertainty makes -110 unattractive in either direction.

Texas Rangers vs Minnesota Twins projected score

Game forecast: Minnesota Twins 4, Texas Rangers 3. Minnesota’s higher scoring average and positive home record provide the narrow foundation for the pick. Ober’s clean three-inning September 20 appearance is encouraging, although it offers only a small sample and no guarantee of a similarly effective longer outing.

The strongest counterargument is Texas’ bullpen, which has outperformed Minnesota’s in both season ERA and WHIP. Eovaldi also owns the better season strikeout and walk totals. Those factors keep confidence low and make a Texas victory entirely plausible. Minnesota remains the projected winner; both betting markets are passes, and the single official SportsJaw recommendation is Pass.
