Los Angeles Angels vs Seattle Mariners Predictions Today: Reid Detmers vs Bryce Miller

Game time: September 25, 2026 at 10:10 PM ET

Venue: T-Mobile Park — Seattle, Washington

Article updated Sep 25, 9:38 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

The Seattle Mariners will beat the Los Angeles Angels, 3-2, in a narrow forecast built around Bryce Miller’s strikeout results against the current Angels roster and Seattle’s career hitting results against Reid Detmers. Detmers’ superior recent form makes this a low-confidence pick. Neither the supplied run-line prices nor the 6.5 total offers a compelling wager; the official recommendation is Pass.

Los Angeles Angels vs Seattle Mariners prediction and best bet

Seattle gets the slight nod because Miller has struck out 30.9% of the current Angels roster over 68 career plate appearances, while Seattle’s hitters have a .352 wOBA against Detmers over 113 plate appearances. Those matchup histories suggest a route to a narrow Mariners victory, although neither sample is large enough to outweigh everything else.

The strongest evidence against Seattle comes from the mound. Detmers has the better season ERA and the better five-start ERA, and Seattle’s relief staff has carried a substantial recent workload. That keeps the forecast at Mariners 3, Angels 2 with low confidence. Best bet: Pass. Picking Seattle to win does not make its run line a bargain.

Odds, game time and how to watch

Game: Los Angeles Angels at Seattle Mariners, MLB, Friday, September 25, 2026.

Time: 7:10 p.m. PDT, or 10:10 p.m. ET, according to the official Mariners probable-pitchers page and Covers.

Venue: T-Mobile Park.

Probable starters: Reid Detmers, Angels left-hander; Bryce Miller, Mariners right-hander.

SportsJaw moneyline: Los Angeles +115; Seattle -135.

SportsJaw run line: Los Angeles +1.5 (-200); Seattle -1.5 (+170). Seattle must win by at least two runs to cover its side of that spread. Total: Over 6.5 (-120); Under 6.5 (+100).

Los Angeles Angels outlook

Detmers gives Los Angeles a strong pitching argument. The official Mariners probable-pitchers page lists him at 6-8 with a 3.47 ERA and 204 strikeouts this season. Covers lists a 3-2 record and 2.70 ERA across his last five starts, averaging six innings. His recent results favor the Angels in the starting-pitcher comparison.

On September 8 at Boston, Detmers delivered six scoreless innings with one hit, one walk and nine strikeouts. Against Seattle on September 14, he allowed seven hits, three runs, all earned, and one homer in six innings, with one walk and eight strikeouts. That outing offers a useful example of him keeping this opponent within reach despite allowing traffic.

His September 19 start against Minnesota was less effective: five innings, six hits, four runs, all earned, one homer, no walks and five strikeouts. The five-start ERA therefore comes with some variation beneath it.

Offensively, the current Angels roster has a .270 average and .328 wOBA against Miller in 68 career plate appearances. Its 30.9% strikeout rate in that sample is a concern. These are results against one pitcher, not a season split against right-handers. Los Angeles needs to turn the contact it makes into enough scoring to reward Detmers.

Seattle Mariners outlook

Miller enters with a 4-9 record, 3.99 ERA and 112 strikeouts this season. His last five starts are less encouraging: a 1-4 record and 5.09 ERA. Seattle’s forecast depends partly on him carrying forward his September 19 improvement at Colorado, where he allowed four hits and one unearned run in five and one-third innings, with two walks and six strikeouts.

Before that, Miller allowed two hits and two earned runs in five innings against the Athletics on September 13. Both hits were homers, and he issued five walks while striking out five. On September 8 against Texas, he allowed four hits, four earned runs, one homer and three walks in three and two-thirds innings, with six strikeouts. The strikeouts remain useful; the walks make a clean outing harder to project.

Seattle’s current hitters have a .298 average and .352 wOBA against Detmers across 113 career plate appearances, with a 23.9% strikeout rate and 7.1% walk rate. That pitcher-specific history is the offensive basis for the Seattle lean.

The bullpen has worked 17 and one-third innings over its last three games, allowing seven earned runs and nine walks. Matt Brash is on the 60-day injured list with a right lat strain, and Brendan Donovan is on the seven-day injured list with a concussion.

Key matchup factors

The key question is whether Miller can give Seattle enough innings to reduce its reliance on a heavily worked bullpen. Recent relief workload raises a concern, but it does not identify which individual relievers will be available. Detmers gives Los Angeles the more convincing recent starting-pitcher profile.

SportsJaw’s September 25 consensus update at 13:29 UTC shows 458 combined moneyline selections for Seattle and 145 for Los Angeles, with a 76% blended Seattle share. Those counts include a modeled sportsbook sample and SportsJaw participation, rather than observed sportsbook ticket totals. Separately, the community and qualified-handicapper shares each favor Seattle at 67%. These are selection shares, not Seattle’s win probability, and they do not erase the pitching counterargument.

Los Angeles Angels vs Seattle Mariners spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Los Angeles Angels +1.5 (-200) and Seattle Mariners -1.5 (+170). A Mariners 3-2 finish would cover the Angels’ run line, but one projected result is too narrow a foundation for paying -200.

Detmers’ recent performance makes the Angels’ cushion appealing. Seattle’s potential dependence on its bullpen also complicates a two-run Mariners victory. Still, neither consideration gives a reliable estimate of the likelihood of either team covering. The +170 return on Seattle is attractive only if its winning margin justifies the risk. The forecast favors a closer finish.

Los Angeles Angels vs Seattle Mariners total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 6.5 (-120) and Under 6.5 (+100). The five-run projection leans toward a lower-scoring game, supported by Detmers’ recent ERA and Miller’s career strikeout results against these Angels hitters.

There is meaningful resistance to an Under wager. Miller’s recent struggles, his walks in the September 13 start and Seattle’s bullpen workload create paths to extra scoring. The blended total consensus favors Over at 75%, but popularity is not a scoring model. The projection falls below 6.5; confidence in the full range of outcomes is too limited to recommend Under.

Los Angeles Angels vs Seattle Mariners projected score

Game forecast: Seattle Mariners 3, Los Angeles Angels 2. Miller’s strikeout history against the Angels and Seattle’s career hitting results against Detmers narrowly tip the prediction toward the Mariners. This is a low-confidence forecast because the matchup samples are modest and the stronger recent starter pitches for Los Angeles.

Detmers is the clearest threat to that call. If his recent six-inning average translates into another effective start, Seattle may have little room for a Miller setback or a difficult relief inning. The moneyline favorite remains the editorial winner, but neither the run line nor the total earns a wager. The single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
