Betting Odds

Moneyline: Braves -270 | Marlins +228

Spread: Braves -1.5 (-159) | Marlins +1.5 (+139)

Total: Over/Under 8 (-110)

Atlanta Braves

Despite multiple key injuries, including to Ronald Acuna Jr. and Spencer Strider, the Atlanta Braves are still in contention for a playoff spot with a record of 94-68. They are currently 2.0 games back from the final wild card spot. The Braves recently ended a losing streak with two consecutive wins, and Max Fried will be starting the next game, boasting a solid season so far. In terms of statistics, Atlanta ranks 16th in offense and 2nd in defense, with an overall power ranking of 9.

Miami Marlins Analysis

The Miami Marlins have had a difficult season, starting with nine consecutive losses in 2024 and struggling with multiple pitchers on the injured list. Currently, they are at the bottom of the National League East, 35.0 games out of first place. With a recent loss to the Dodgers where Shohei Ohtani made history, the Marlins are facing a challenging end to the season and may surpass 100 losses. Adam Oller, who has struggled with a 1-4 record and a 5.40 ERA, will start against the Braves. Additionally, the Marlins have a power ranking of 21 and are ranked #28 for offense and #29 for defense, with an overall record of 80-82. The Marlins have lost their last three matchups against the Atlanta Braves.

Braves Favored to Cover Spread Against Struggling Marlins

I have confidence in the Braves to secure a victory in this game, and therefore I will be betting on Atlanta to cover the 1.5 run spread. This is largely due to the strong offensive lineup of the Braves and their favorable matchup against Adam Oller. Oller has struggled recently, evident in his 7.63 ERA and 1.83 WHIP over three starts this month. Facing a determined Braves team that is excelling offensively will be a challenging task for Oller. The Marlins have a poor record in Oller's recent starts, losing by multiple runs in three out of four games. Furthermore, Miami has been struggling with a 2-8 record in their last 10 games, losing six of those games by multiple runs. Considering these factors, I will be backing the Braves -1.5 as they continue to perform well.
