The Detroit Pistons, an American professional basketball team, proudly represent the city of Detroit. They are a valued member of the Central Division in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team calls Little Caesars Arena in Midtown Detroit its home court. Founded in 1937 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, initially known as the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons, they transitioned to becoming a professional team in 1941 in the National Basketball League (NBL). It was during their time in the NBL that they claimed two championships in 1944 and 1945. Subsequently, the Pistons joined the Basketball Association of America (BAA) in 1948. The merger of NBL and BAA formed the NBA in 1949, and the Pistons proudly became part of this unified organization. In 1957, the franchise relocated to the city of Detroit. Throughout their history, the Pistons have triumphed as NBA champions on three noteworthy occasions: in 1989, 1990, and 2004.
