Fansided: Dallas Stars Show Resiliency, Capabilities In OT Loss To Nashville
If you want to blame the Dallas Stars' skeleton crew defense, you can. If you want to blame the bad penalties, go ahead. And if you want to blame the catfish that was tossed onto the ice by a Predators fan at the beginning of the third period, more power to you.
Whatever you want to single out as the primary factor in the Stars' overtime loss to Nashville on Saturday afternoon is up to you. Sure, there were things they could have done better and there were many chances for them to secure a win if they just did certain things right.
On the Forecheck: Nashville Predators 5, Dallas Stars 4 (OT): Comeback Kids Disappoint Dallas
Victor Arvidsson made his long-awaited return to the ice today, and Juuse Saros started in net, giving Pekka Rinne his first day off since coming back from Injured Reserve. The first period's first ten minutes started extremely uneventfully. I'm not sure there was a whistle. Lots of dumping and chasing, few shots (only two for Dallas). Right around the ten minute mark, during a rush, Dallas dumped a puck out over the glass, giving the Preds a PP. The Predators followed that up with a quick icing, proving they remain dangerous as ever on special teams.
Defending Big D: Recap: Stars Rise and Fall in Plucky OT Loss to Nashville
The Stars played a game with half an NHL defense against the best team in the West. They took a 3-1 lead into the third, and almost held on.
You can discuss a lot of the bad things about this game, and there certainly were some. But hey, for my money, this is a point Jim Montgomery is probably going to take every time.
Denis Gurianov scored his first career goal from literally Ben Gleason, and it was almost the game-winner. Yeah, that's some kind of afternoon.
Anyway, I'll leave the details to y'all today. How do you feel about this one?
On the Forecheck: Nashville Predators @ Dallas Stars Preview: Been Too Long
It's been a long, mostly hockeyless week. Fortunately that ends now.
The Stars are 9-6-1 and just barely holding their own in the Central. A win this afternoon won't get them into third place, but it'll keep them from falling further. Unfortunately for them, their injured list is looking like a good chunk of their roster at this point. Star defender and second-leading scorer John Klingberg broke his hand last night and joined Alexander Radulov on the injured reserve list. They've also had a few other injuries, which means it's a fairly young and unknown defense corps that will be facing the Preds tonight.

How do you teach someone to swim? Well, there are a few different ways you can go about doing it.
One way would be signing them up for swim lessons. Another could be incorporating flotation devices to ease them into the concept. You could even hold them up in the water and allow them to go at their own pace.
Or, you could simply toss them into the water as Adam Sandler did in Just Go With It (it's an odd reference, but you get the picture). At a certain age, natural instinct kicks in and forces the person to learn how to swim in a rapid manner.
Consensus betting prediction from the Covers.com community:
Nashville Predators (69% consensus). The Dallas Stars began their four-game homestand with both a victory on the ice as well as a significant loss in the form of defenseman John Klingberg, who will be sidelined at least four weeks after having surgery on his hand. The Stars aim to forge ahead and continue their winning ways at American Airlines Center on Saturday afternoon when they host the Nashville Predators, who are a perfect 7-0-0 on the road this season... http://bit.ly/2B2vTTb
