BETTING PREVIEW & PICKS:
Cincinnati Bengals 1-11 (5-6-1 ATS) are playing Cleveland Browns 5-7 (4-7-1 ATS) on Dec 8, 2019, 1:00pm ET at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Browns opened at -10.5 in Vegas and the current line is CLE -7.
An AFC North divisional showdown between the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns takes center stage in Sunday’s Week 14 NFL action. The Bengals spent last Sunday night celebrating like they won a Super Bowl after earning their first victory of the year and avoiding a winless season. To no one’s surprise, the New York Jets were on the receiving end of an embarrassing 22-6 loss to the worst team in football. The Browns know a thing or two about winless seasons. After falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13, they’ll be aiming to add a 12th loss to the Bengals 2019 resume'.
The Return of Andy Dalton was the key to getting this teams first victory on the year and avoiding a 0-16 season. Now with that monkey off their backs they are looking to play spoiler in the AFC North conference. I actually like their chances to start a winning streak on the road in Cleveland. The Bengals are expected to have receiver John Ross back on the field, while they continue to be cautious with the injured A.J. Green. Dalton will need all of the help he can get if his defense fails to hold up on their end. They rank second-worst in the league in total yards with opponents averaging 405.0 yards per game against them. Yet, their greatest weakness being against the run signals big problems with Nick Chubb coming out of the Browns’ offensive backfield.
The Bengals are allowing a league-worst 157.6 rushing yards per game. If Chubb is going to eat, Dalton and Bengals running back Joe Mixon must do the same on the offensive side of the ball against a Browns’ defense that sis really struggling after losing its best player, Myles Garrett. Speaking of reeling defenses, the Bengals could be without defensive end Sam Hubbard (knee) for this game. If the Bengals are going to be effective they have to get their ground game going early and control the clock. This team obviously doesn't do well playing from behind.
If it was not for the Cowboys everybody and the media would be talking about how bad this Browns team has been this year and how much they have underachieved as a team in the NFL. this team can never get out of their own way and it starts at the top.
Whether it’s coach Freddie Kitchens tripping over the play-calling, quarterback Baker Mayfield making an ill-advised throw, All-Pro wideout Odell Beckham being underutilized or star defensive end Myles Garrett getting himself suspended for the rest of the season; the Browns have proven to be their own worst enemy. It showed when they were facing a 4th string back up QB and a crippled offense that put up big numbers against them. Nick Chubb will obviously be the focus of this offense given all of the problems up front for the Bengals. The Browns’ tailback has carved out a monstrous season with 238 carries for 1,175 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Meanwhile Baker should continue to find Landry in the slot and try to get Odell on a big play deep. Meanwhile, the defense continues to try to find its way without Garrett on the field. If they struggled in slowing down the Steelers, they could have problems against a revamped Bengals offense with Dalton back behind center. It is also worth noting that Mayfield appeared on the injury report with a hand and rib injury. He is active but obviously that injury should impact his ability to throw the ball.
BETTING PREVIEW & PICKS:
I love the Bengals and getting a TD here. The Browns are the more talented team but we have seen where that doesn't really matter for them this season. These AFC north battles are almost always knock em out drag em out kind of fights and I think this one is closer then a lot of people think. Give me the Points with the Bengals here.
Cleveland will be bolstered offensively with the return of their starting left tackle (Greg Robinson) and tight end David Njoku. Cleveland got off to a great start against the Dolphins in their last home game two weeks ago (28-0), and I expect that same type of hot start from the offense as they beat up on another porous defense (albeit one that has played much better over the past three weeks). While the loss to Pittsburgh was a gut punch and the season has been frustrating, these players arent the ones to mail it in -- they are going to be starving to pad their stats against Cincinnati, and to also maintain their slim playoff hopes (which stand at about 5%). I like Cleveland by double digits here: Browns 31, Bengals 20.
The FirstEnergy Stadium has an open roof so weather should be considered for today's game. It will be Mostly Sunny with 20% cloud cover and a 0% chance for rain. The temperature is 50 with 55% humidity and winds at 15 mph SSW.

At 5-7, the Cleveland Browns have little margin for error if they're going to snap a 17-year playoff drought. The division rival Cincinnati Bengals can deliver a final blow to Cleveland's postseason hopes when they visit the Browns on Sunday afternoon. Cincy is 5-0 ATS in its last five trips to Cleveland.
