Purdue vs Minnesota Predictions

***PURDUE -10*** The Purdue Boilermakers have scored 30 or more points in six of their last seven games and did a good job of putting that loss to Michigan State behind them. The Minnesota Golden Gophers have allowed 30 or more points in each of their last seven games and in my opinion aren't good enough offensively to make up for those struggles. Illinois beat Minnesota last weekend 31-55 and Purdue is a helluva lot better team than Minnesota. I think Purdue rolls to a comfortable win here today and covers this number. Maybe buy the hook down to -10 just in case.

The Daily Gopher: Half Time in chilly Minnesota: Gopher Football beating Purdue 13-3
Minnesota, who has really struggled defensively against Big Ten teams has held an explosive Purdue offense in check for the first two quarters of today's game. The Gophers hold a 13-3 lead at the break.
Minnesota with three drives taking them inside the red zone in the first half. The first was a field goal after a couple missed opportunities. The second was a touchdown pass from Seth Green to Jake Paulson. And the third scoring drive stalled at the 9 and was Emmit Carpenter's second FG of the game.
Purdue's lone scoring opportunity came after a Tanner Morgan interception gave them ball in Minnesota territory to start.
Consensus betting prediction from the Covers.com community:
Purdue Boilermakers (61% consensus). Purdue looks to keep pace in the Big Ten West Division race when it travels to face Minnesota in a conference game Saturday. The Boilermakers are coming off a narrow 38-36 victory over Iowa, pulling within a game of Northwestern and remaining tied with Wisconsin in the West, while the Golden Gophers are looking to bounce back from a 55-31 loss to Illinois... http://bit.ly/2Auf5U5

Hammer and Rails: Purdue vs. Minnesota Predictions
Jumbo Heroes (4-5):
Purdue's offense has really put things together as the season has progressed. Minnesota just fired their defensive coordinator. In Minnesota's last game they gave up 430 yards rushing to Illinois to go along with 216 passing yards. They gave up 646 yards...to ILLINOIS...coached by Santa Lovie. That's not great at all. Now they're trying to fix things with a new defensive coordinator the week before playing against Jeff Brohm offensive genius? I don't think that's going to go well for them.
Plus, Purdue needs to win just one more game in order to be bowl eligible for the second season in a row.
Hammer and Rails: Purdue at Minnesota: Preview
It has been quite a while since Purdue has been in this position. Once again, the Boilers are a double-digit favorite on the road just like they were at Illinois. We're a win away for bowl eligibility. The last three times we played in the postseason it wasn't clinched until a Bucket game victory over Indiana. You have to go back to 2007 for the last time we had it locked up this early. Another victory would also give us a winning record in Big Ten play for the first time since 2006 when we were 8-6 overall, but 5-3 in league play (5-4 if you count the bowl loss to Maryland as a Big Ten game).
Hammer and Rails: Purdue at Minnesota: Depth Charts
For a long time now we haven't had much change on the depth chart, but that changes this week. We have a major change to announce on the offensive depth chart:
QB: 1. David Blough 2. Elijah Sindelar
RB: 1. D.J. Knox 2. Markell Jones. 3. Tario Fuller 4. Alexander Horvath
WR: Isaac Zico OR Jarrett Burgess
Hammer and Rails: Purdue (5-4, 4-2) at Minnesota (4-5, 1-5) Game Center
Last season was basically a bowl elimination game for Purdue and Minnesota. The Boilers won by 14, but that was after 15 points in the final minutes thanks to a pick-six by Ja'Whaun Bentley that sealed the game. Purdue went on to reach a bowl game at 6-6, while Minnesota came up just short at 5-5.
This year Purdue is in a better position, needing just one win in its final three games for a bowl. Minnesota needs two wins, and they have an uphill climb with Northwestern and Wisconsin to follow. They also just got blown out by Illinois, a team they certainly were supposed to beat on the road.
