    • Both defenses returning a slew of talent and the fact that neither offense inspires confidence as a unit capable of a breakout performance then I predict we see little scoring here. It's going to take the Seminoles time install and execute everything new coach Mike Norvell wants to do, and for that reason, it's tough to see Florida State scoring enough to pull away. Georgia Tech's running game should generate enough punch to score at least a couple of times, burn clock and keep the Yellow Jackets inside the number.

    • Georgia Tech lost some key guys on both the offensive and defensive line, so while they should have a stronger secondary this year their defensive line is reportedly suspect. Tech should get some yards on the ground, but with freshman Jeff Sims at the helm, FSU should be able to rattle him somewhat and apply pressure with a defensive line thats amongst the nations best. All games boil down to blocking and I think Florida State will have the edge blocking on offense and lean on GT for 4 quarters.

With all the new faces I expect a sloppy game through the first half but if FSUs line can let James Blackman work enough that he can find open receivers on breaks in coverage, the Seminoles could start rolling early and put themselves in a position to open up the Norvell-era with a win.

Predicted Score: Florida State 34, Georgia Tech 23

    • Im not as high as the 80% of FSU as blackman (if starter) is not as good as vegas is letting them on to be. Georgia tech defense was legit last year. their offense last year, as well as this year, will be abysmal. add that on to a stout FSU defense. I worry about norvell and his offensive schemes just a bit but i love the 51 hook here.

    • Florida State new head coach Mike Norvell replace in-battled Willie Taggart that never could pick the lock at Florida State. Norvell was highly sought after by many programs and now has the challenge of turning FSU back into Tomahawk nation. Georgia Tech brings back most of their offense and good things being reported about QB James Graham who reportedly has "grown leaps and bounds" from last year. I like the hire of Norvell at FSU and it will take time to turn things around and but I cant see the Seminoles stomping any opponent, nevertheless a conference foe in their opening game. Vegas has FSU at -12.5 and this just feels like too many- Georgia Tech should have enough talent on both sides of the ball to stay within 2 touchdowns. Take the points.
