Minnesota Golden Gophers 9-1 (6-3-1 ATS) are playing Northwestern Wildcats 2-8 (2-7-1 ATS) on Nov 23, 2019, 12:00pm ET at Ryan Field. The Wildcats opened at +10 in Vegas and the current line is NWESTN +13.5.

This Week 13 match up features a one loss Minnesota Golden Gophers (6-3-1 ATS) traveling to Ryan Field to play against the Northwestern Wildcats 2-8 (2-7-1 ATS) on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 12:00 P.M. This will be the 95th meeting between these two teams. Last time these tow teams played the Wildcats beat the Gophers on the road by the score of 24-14.

Minnesota Golden Gophers
The Golden Gophers come into this game no longer undefeated but still currently ranked in the AP Top Ten. Last week this team suffered a disappointing road loss to Iowa that essentially ended its hopes of making the College Football Playoff. This team still has a ton to play for as they are still in serious contention for a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game as it is currently leading its division by one game over Wisconsin. So every game for this team is incredibly important. Leading the Gophers attack this year has been sophomore quarterback Tanner Morgan who has been pretty good for the most part this season. He has thrown for 2,468 passing yards and 22 passing touchdowns. In addition, he has also only thrown four interceptions so he has been pretty good when it comes to limiting turnovers. However, Morgan is currently in concussion protocol and he is questionable to play in this game. On the other side of the ball Minnesota has been solid up to this point. The Gophers are allowing 20.9 points per game which ranks 28th in the nation. They are allowing 307.8 yards per contest which ranks 15th in the nation. They will be looking for another great defensive performance on the road in a very hostile environment.

Northwestern Wildcats
There isn't much to write about that is positive with this team. Northwestern has lost eight of its first ten games this season as they were eliminated from bowl contention several weeks ago. On top of that they are still winless in conference play through seven games as it has looked completely lost all season long. It is really crazy to think about how far the Wildcats have fallen in such a short period of time. Consider this time last year they made a last season push and ended up in the conference title game last season. Now in their final home game of the year this team is looking for a huge upset.

Even if Morgan does not play, I think Minnesota is by far the better team and will put that on display Saturday. This is simply a lost season for Northwestern as they look to build a team that will compete next year. Minnesota is ranked in the top ten for a reason and should pull away towards the end of the game and cover the 2 TD spread. MINN 35- NW 7

    • Northwestern QB Aidan Smith Unlikely to play Saturday

Smith (undisclosed) is doubtful for Saturday's game against Minnesota, Andy Greder of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

It wasn't revealed what's bothering Smith, as he's a new addition to the injury report. Smith has completed 50.3 percent of his passes for 760 yards, three touchdowns and nine interceptions this year, and he's ran 72 times for 211 yards. Andrew Marty is expected to start under center if Smith is indeed ruled out.

The Golden Gophers raced out to their first 9-0 start since 1905 before dropping a 23-19 decision to 20th-ranked Iowa in the battle for the Floyd of Rosedale, but they still hold a one-game lead at the top of the Big Ten West Division standing.
