Texas Longhorns 5-2 (4-3 ATS) are playing TCU Horned Frogs 3-3 (2-4 ATS) on Oct 26, 2019, 3:30pm ET at Amon Carter Stadium. The Horned Frogs opened at -2 in Vegas and the current line is TCU +1.
No. 15 Texas Longhorns visit the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday in a pivotal conference game at 3:30 p.m. ET at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Texas is a one-point favorite in the latest Texas vs. TCU odds, while the over-under is 56.5 points, down from 59.5 when it opened earlier this week. Texas survived against Kansas last week, 50-48, and has also defeated West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Rice and Louisiana Tech. Meanwhile, TCU is 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the Big 12, having lost two straight to Iowa State and Kansas State. TCU has downed Texas in four of its past five matchups and is also 4-1 against the spread in those five games.
TCU will attempt to upset Texas with freshman quarterback Max Duggan despite two straight road losses and an offense that ranks seventh overall in the Big 12 and ninth in passing. TCU has also struggled running the ball, as running back Darius Anderson has just 105 yards on the ground in two straight games.
Texas might have been feeling the effects of a post-Red River Showdown hangover, but their close shave against Kansas last week raised legitimate questions about what's in store for this team down the stretch. Most notably, the UT defense has collapsed, helped along in part by the absence of key pieces such as defensive backs Caden Sterns and Jalen Green.
BETTING PREVIEW: If TCU can slow down Sam Ehlinger & Co. even just a tiny bit, it has a chance to practically end whatever New Years Six hopes Texas still has. Texas has really struggled against passing teams, and while the Frogs don't have a strong passing attack they do have a formidable running back in Darius Anderson who has consecutive 150+ yard games. There's a reason this line came shooting down soon after it opened. TCU is a lot better than people realize, and Texas has major issues on the defensive side of the ball right now. TCU's Duggan should be able to have success against this sieve of a Texas secondary, but at the end of the day I think it's too much Sam Ehlinger, Colin Johnson and Duvernay. I like Texas to win a close one in a high scoring game.
67% of the SportsJaw community picked TCU +1 to COVER. The SportsJaw “scorecaster” predicts a final score of Texas 29 – TCU 31.
TCU opened as a 2 point favorite, all the money poured in on Texas moving the line to Texas -2, and then Chris Fallica said he liked TCU today and the line moved back to TCU -1. The Bear needs a new pair of coke bottle glasses, Texas is free money today and I'm backing that statement up with a dime today. #Hookem'.
Two Texas defenders are game-time decisions vs. TCU - Burnt Orange NationOne starter may return in the secondary, but two other key contributors might have to sit. https://www.burntorangenation.com/2019/10/24/20931509/texas-longhorns-injuries-bj-foster-demarvion-overshown-jalen-green
This pick might be biased based on my distain of Texas HC Tom Herman, but I'm taking a flyer on the Frogs this week. Longhorns have proven they can light up the scoreboard, but continue to have issues stopping opponents and barely escaped a narrow win against Kansas in Austin last Saturday. Texas has really struggled against passing teams, and while the Frogs don't have a strong passing attack they do have a formidable running back in Darius Anderson who has consecutive 150+ yard games. If TCU can slow down Sam Ehlinger & Co. even just a tiny bit, it has a chance to practically end whatever New Years Six hopes Texas still has. The money poured in on Texas early but this is another game I'm fading the public on.
TCU opens as a 2.5 point favorite over Texas??? Wrong team favored. The Horned Frogs have dropped 2 in a row including a 25-point loss to Iowa State. Frogs are terrible this year and Texas played both LSU and Oklahoma close games...Vegas looking too much into that KU game.
Covers community free betting prediction for Texas Longhorns (70% consensus). No. 15 Texas received quite a scare in its last outing and looks to put together a stronger effort when it visits TCU in Big 12 play on Saturday. The Longhorns needed a 33-yard field goal by sophomore Cameron Dicker as time expired to escape with a 50-48 home win against Kansas to remain alive in the conference race... http://bit.ly/2PJRsft
