  • Texas Head Coach Tom Herman is 8-3-1 against the spread as an underdog at UT, and he also went 5-0 with five outright victories as a the dog when he was coaching at Houston. I think this team is battle tested enough to keep it close. But the secondary is too banged up to win outright.

    My Pick: Texas +10.5

Here's why Texas beats OU this year:

1.) The Longhorns have better receivers in Devin Duvernay, Jake Smith and Collin Johnson.

2.) Texas has several clear advantages at Linebacker with Joseph Ossai

3.) Texas has a much better offensive line.

4.) X-factor Sam Cosmi emergency running back has proven effective

5.) Oklahoma broke in four count em, four new offensive line starters, And now there are reports the two starting tackles are injured and could miss the game.

6.) The Longhorns have the best kicker in sophomore Cameron Dicker, who had the game-winning kick to beat OU last October.

7.) The Longhorns have had the tougher schedule. The Sooners havent played any team the caliber of an LSU or probably even an Oklahoma State

        My Pick: Texas +10.5

      • This feels like its going to be another classiv Red River rivalry game and should be close. There is no doubt that Okla has more depth on their roster but Texas should be able to match up and create miss matches themselves. 11 points is too much. Ill take UT to cover and might sprinkle some on the ML

Texas went tit for tat against LSU and lost that game 38-45. 11 points just feels like too many here. IF Texas doesn't turn the ball over then the Horns will score against this OU defense. Sure the Sooners defense is much improved but Texas has a Heisman candidate at QB and 2 top NFL drafts at receiver in Duvernay and Johnson. Plenty of questions around the Texas secondary but I think their young backups are talented and have a little game experience now. Double digits is too many. #GoHorns

Texas did not impress me against West Virginia last week and their defense is dealing with injuries. I'm a Jalen Hurd fan and think he's on a path to give Oklahoma their 3rd straight Heisman and it starts with a trouncing of Texas on Saturday. Texas will score some TD's but they won't keep up for 4 quarters. My predicted score, Oklahoma 45- Texas 31.

          My Pick: Oklahoma -10.5

Texas did not impress last week, but that WVU offensive line was better than advertised. Plus the horns didn't exactly play a clean game. TEXAS +11 60%

The Texas secondary is a sieve and Hurts should be picking it apart all day long. Texas is really banged up at the moment, and they've played a very soft schedule outside of their loss to LSU. Texas struggled to beat a below average West Virginia on the road last week and they are takingon an entirely different animal today. The prolific offense of Texas will be stalled by this revamped Top 20 OU defense - I predict OU easily wins by double digits and covers the number today.

          My Pick: Oklahoma -10

                    • Texas Collin Johnson (hamstring) was able to practice Sunday and looks as though he will be able to play against Oklahoma on Saturday, Anwar Richardson of OrangeBloods.com reports.
                      ANALYSIS
Johnson was dressed and available over the weekend against West Virginia but only as an emergency option for the Longhorns. The Longhorns have their most important game of the season Saturday against Oklahoma in a game that has playoff implications for both teams. Johnson's presence will play a major factor in the Longhorn offense as the game is expected to be a high-scoring affair between the two powerhouse programs. The senior receiver had seven receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown in the first two games before getting hurt. He looks to play a big role Saturday in a showdown with Jalen Hurts and the dynamic Oklahoma offense.

Burnt Orange Nation: No. 11 Texas plays poorly, presses in 34-27 loss to No. 6 Oklahoma

DALLAS -- The game was still in the balance at 27-20 with a little less than seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter when the No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners did what they had done virtually all game -- put the defense for the No. 11 Texas Longhorns in difficult situations by formation and motion, then make defenders miss in the open field.

First it was Kennedy Brooks running for 42 yards on the critical drive's first play, then Rhamondre Stevenson gaining 24 yards and forcing a missed tackle by junior safety Chris Brown, who went down with a fractured forearm.
