Gotta lean with the Mean here. Both of these teams are bad bt John Means has been the lone bright spot for the O's this year. He would have a better record with a decent bullpen behind him and a line up that doesnt resemble a triple-A team. I think the O's are a solid play here. I wouldnt go lay any more juice then -150 though

    My Pick: Baltimore -150

I'll take the veteran Means to provide some leadership out there this afternoon. I hope he goes to a better team next year after such a tough year with Baltimore. I'll take the Orioles to end this series on a high note.

      My Pick: Baltimore -148 60%

The Detroit News: 'Wish it came sooner': Tigers topple Orioles, Tyler Alexander earns first big-league win

Detroit -- Tyler Alexander had a litany of things poured on him by his teammates after Monday's game.

Listerine, relish, yogurt and shaving cream were among the things dumped on the Tigers rookie left-hander. And he was fine he was the recipient of the hodge-podge shower.

Alexander (1-3) picked up his first major league win, allowing just one run and four hits across six innings, en route to a 5-2 Tigers win and series split against Baltimore at Comerica Park.

"I felt like I was ahead of almost everybody, which helped keep my pitch count down," Alexander said.

Bless You Boys: Tigers 5, Orioles 2: Detroit splits series behind strong start from Tyler Alexander

The Detroit Tigers played an afternoon game on a Monday for some reason, but took home a well-earned victory for their efforts. Tyler Alexander limited the Baltimore Orioles to a single run in six solid innings, and the Tigers beat the Orioles by a 5-2 score.

The Tigers got off to a fast start in this one. After Alexander set the O's down in order in the top of the first, Victor Reyes led off the home half with a triple. Jordy Mercer then took the very next pitch from Baltimore starter John Means deep to left-center field for a two-run home run.

Camden Chat: Orioles, so over it, lose to Tigers in 5-2 snoozefest

When you were a kid, did you ever fantasize about being a professional athlete? Maybe you imagined yourself hitting a World Series-winning home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Or throwing the game-ending touchdown with zero seconds left on the clock. "And the crowd goes wild!" you exclaimed, imitating the roaring and cheering of the many thousands of adoring fans watching your heroic feats.

Yeah. Turns out, the reality of being a professional athlete can be a bit less glamorous.

Sometimes you're just an exhausted cog in a malfunctioning machine. You're on a terrible team, playing against an even more terrible team, on a Monday afternoon, in front of a couple hundred bored fans in late September of an utterly useless season.

The Detroit News: Tigers lose to Orioles but strengthen spot for No. 1 pick in draft

          (Photo: Jose Juarez, AP)

Detroit - The Tigers took another backward step forward Sunday, losing a sleepy, rain-soaked baseball game to the Baltimore Orioles, 8-2 at Comerica Park.

With the loss, the Tigers retain their 4.5-game "lead" on the Orioles for the worst record in baseball, the prize for which is the first pick in the 2020 draft.

Edwin Jackson got the start for the Tigers and except for a three-batter stretch in the third inning, he had things relatively under control.

Problem was, those three batters produced three runs in the pivotal third inning.
