(68% consensus). The Pittsburgh Pirates figure to have several position battles next season, but any questions about the starting shortstop may have already been answered. McCovey Chronicles: Giants drop series to Pirates in another feckless showing, 4-2

The Giants just lost their eighth game of the month, but things could be worse. At this time last year, the Giants had just lost their 11th game in a row which set a San Francisco era record for longest losing streak. They've already won four games this month. A 4-8 record is bad, but it's a heck of a lot better than 0-11.

Okay, maybe that's not the best consolation, but there wasn't a whole lot in this game to be happy about. Andrew Suarez and Burch Smith looked sharp out of the bullpen, and Mauricio Dubon made some nice plays in the field, but that was about it.

Fansided: Pittsburgh Pirates Secure Third Victory Against the Giants Behind Joe Musgrove's Strong Outing

The Pittsburgh Pirates played a day game, as seems to be the new normal on Thursday afternoons in the MLB. The game was held in San Francisco against the San Francisco Giants - the fourth and final game in the series. The Bucs sen Joe Musgrove (4.67 ERA; 9-12 record) to the mound against the Giant's Jeff Samardzija (3.64 ERA; 10-11 record). With the Pirates (64-82) officially eliminated from any playoff birth and locked in with a losing record (Yes Neal, this is the case for all 10,000 simulations), the focus for the team should be on 2020 and the players that will be on that team.
